Thanks for this helpful videos. I'm on my first transatlantic soon, and have seen many negative reviews of the QM2. But the ship looks lovely and fresh in this video, and the food you show seems excellent to me. I'm looking forward to my trip again.
Hope our embarkation and cabin review videos weren't amongst the negative ones you saw! 😂 We loved the ship and the food was good. We also have a video due out soon showcasing the art on the stairways.
Was on Queen Anne in June, found some staff surlily in the buffet and some bars. The staff in the Britannia Club were totally different and had worked on ships for many years, I feel that they had been poached from other ships. Looking forward to trying your recommendations in early September, thank you.
Thank you for watching and commenting. I think that inconsistent is the best way to describe the staff we encountered on QM2. Enjoy your voyage in September.
Loved your vid, have subscribed and nice to hear familiar accents!!! We went on queen victoria in August. 14 nights. We thought that the food in the main dining wa acceptable at best. The buffet was good and the light snacks in the chart room were really nice. The verandah was good but not exceptional as we feel dining we pay more for should be. However we did have a meal in one of the pop up restaurants, bamboo. This was extra but less than the verandah and the meal was exceptional. Tbh we were really disappointed with cunard. We found the service, food quality, interaction with staff ship wide much better on princess
Thank you so much for watching, commenting, and subscribing. It really means a lot to us. It is very interesting hearing your experience on Queen Victoria. We have never tried Princess but lots of people have told us they are a good cruise line. We have only been with Marella, P&O, Ambassador, Cunard and Virgin. All of them (apart from Cunard) gave us great service and made us feel welcome. We are off again next week on Marella Explorer 2 so it will be interesting to see how a "budget" brand stacks up. We hope you continue to enjoy your cruises and welcome to our channel 😀.
Really great informative and well put together video . Lots of great info. We really enjoyed the food onboard and we could see why you might try the buffet on a formal night. 👋👋
@pearlandbrianstripsandadve8619 thanks guys. We really liked the buffet and Sir Samuel's. I think best buffet at sea for us. Look forward to seeing more of your QM2 vlogs. Have a good week 😀
We have done 5 transatlantic crossings on QM2 and New York to Sydney .on Queen Victoria. We always do fixed dining, late sitting for dinner in the Britannia ding room. Room is always less full for this sitting. The service is always superb, relaxed, friendly and attentive, Never any line-ups (except that first night). Just stroll into the dining room at your leisure and sit down.
Thank you great honest review. I've been on her three times lastly in September. The service does seem a bit hit and miss compared to when I was on. I go for fixed dining in the evening and you do get to know the waiters. I met people who were on open dining and their experience wasn't as good. In fact they joined our table. I loved lunch in the corinthians lounge limited but nice. And as you say the cakes there and st Samuel's were excellent.
@leedsutdskin thank you for your comment 🙏 In future I will definitely be opting for fixed dining. I just got back from a cruise and did the fixed dining option which worked wonderfully well. Thanks for watching.
Thanks for the vid, good incite into the food options on QM2 and particularly useful as we're on her next year. Our experience on the Marella Voyager in June this year was not good, we've done a lot of cruises with Marella in the past but not since Covid. We thought choices had deteriorated e.g. no more rack of lamb but plenty of sausage and mash in the main dining room. Tried the Surf and Turf on the last night and with the Fillet Steak, I had 1 cherry tomato and tinned mushrooms. That was our particular experience.
We are back on Marella soon. It will be interesting to see what we think and if much has changed. Thanks for watching and commenting it is much appreciated 👍 Enjoy QM2 next year.
Cheers for that, after we got back from the Marella Cruise I completed the customer feedback form and at the end was asked if I was prepared to receive a phone call about our experience. I agreed and after about a week was called to talk about the low scores given. There were a few other issues e.g. When we arrived in Almeria there was a Tannoy announcement about a shuttle service into the town for 5 Euro return and to book at reception. We didn't bother as we were happy to walk. It turned out that there was a Mini Train providing a FREE shuttle service, one family had paid 25 Euro unnecessarily because of bad communication from the ship. On another day they announced that you could get a free cabin upgrade if you booked your next cruise before leaving the ship. Not true, and , having been told, I must have misheard the message along with countless others they were offering a chance to book your cabin number if you booked the holiday ( a saving of about £60 I think). Hence the low scores given on my feedback form. I received a string of apologies from the Customer Services lady followed by " The Icing on the Cake" We are very sorry to hear about your experience on Marella Voyager, of course we cannot offer you a refund for your meal in the Surf and Turf restaurant!
I don't think we'll be doing any more Marella Cruises, as I said there were several issues and just 1 more for you to savour before I end this thread. First 3 nights in Latitude 53 and 4th night in Vista. I was refused entry into the Vista despite wearing similar attire as previous nights. I wore lightweight Crew Neck jumper , trousers and shoes. They said that dress code in the Vista was smart and I was dressed Smart Casual. This definition doesn't exist and Reception were baffled about my experience. Incidentally my dress was good enough for the Surf and Turf. I'll shut up now so other subscribers can comment.
@wellardsmith3629 thank you 😊 yes the food was very good. It's a shame some of the staff were obviously unhappy, I hope whatever staffing issues were going on whilst we were aboard have been sorted now.
Posh Ship but posh nosh ?? So we got the lowdown from this great video ..Hygiene looks good - Positive start ..Lits of positive features and options for those with intolerances too ..shame about the issues with staff .. takes the edge off the experience…Orange chocolate eclair !!! Thanks for watching. The food was better than the cabin 😁 Lisa does love a cake and those éclairs were very nice. Buffet was definitely the best option as we were disappointed with the MDR. Hope you are both well 👍
At 11:30, it sounds like you opted for the flexible dining times for dinner in the Britannia. I'm not here to make excuses or apologies for Cunard, but from other videos, it sounds like Cunard hasn't yet worked out the kinks for this new option. We sailed on the QM2 about six years ago, and flexible dining wasn't yet offered. Dinners seemed to work quite efficiently, though the guests were clearly bound to one of two times. I'm hoping in time that Cunard can work out the flex option as well, but it doesn't seem to have happened yet. Alas.
@ajs11201 thank you for your comment. I have just been on another cruise and had fixed dining option which worked wonderfully. In future, if I have the option, I think I will select fixed dining as I enjoy having the same waiters as you can develop a rapport with them.
@TravellingLightLisa Yes, that was our experience, as well. After a couple of days, our waiter began to anticipate our requests. It was a great experience.
Thanks for watching. I know QM2 had 15 staterooms for solo travellers added in her last refit. They seem to be very popular and sell out quickly. I guess there are not many bargain deals to be had on these. Still worth keeping an eye out though! QM2 is a great ship. 🛳
We were on the QM2 last month. Dining in the Verandah Steakhouse was a high point, the food and staff exceptional. On the other hand, our alternative Italian dining experience was horrible, the food a huge disappointment with staff that were indifferent at best. We had a similar experience ordering breakfast in the Britannia Restaurant, it took over an hour to get our meals, in contrast to our dinner service that was reasonably quick and efficient.
With our experience on QM2 and hearing other people's stories, the best way to describe the current onboard experience is inconsistent! Hopefully, things will improve. Thanks for watching and commenting 👍
Always good to see Giles opting for the healthy options e.g. fish and chips; treacle sponge tart etc as opposed to Lisa’s belly-busting mushroom strudel and whipped feta 😅 Giles looking very dapper. Don't worry, it's only food between those times. Darts is available 24/7. Lisa got very excited when I was searching for cheap flights recently. I didn't know she liked darts that much!

That ship wouldnt be for me. Its too old fashioned for my taste. Food looked good through. I like watching you pair. Reminds me of hoe um😊. Keep up the good work. 2 weks till my celebrity cruise.
