I've known Maitai Bay for over 40 years but its been 10 years since I dived there and I have never seen so many snapper as you did on your diving. Always trevally and the like, plus small snapper but the place seems to be thriving after the rahui. Its always been great outside the bay if you have a boat.
yea fish we're thriving, I think if you go a bit further out they get even bigger so some people were telling us, but the depth we were at is enough for me... I think it would be good to turn the area into Marine reserve, the Rahui is still going into it's 7th year.
yea continues to show how diverse New Zealand is aye... You guys will get up here soon enough I'm sure. Hows life going back in the grind, finding a new rhythm to life? Been out on any trips?
Oh thanks mate, appreciate you taking the time to drop us a comment. It's such a beautiful spot up here aye, nice to be able to go there in the shoulder season when it's a lot quieter.
We love that area. Back in the 1980,'s we managed the motorcamp at Coopers beach & used to spend our free time over at Matai Bay & Tokerau. The fishing was usually good & we gathered lots of Tua tuas at Tokerau. I must say your episodes & filming are great. Thanks mate. 😊
Thanks mate, videos have def improved over the years, it's a great area up here. Must have changed a lot since the 80's quite a few new houses etc been built on the Pennisula and at coopers beach.
6,000 SUBSCRIBERS!!!! bro 10k b4 next year is totally on!!!! LETS GO!!!!!! great episode brother! the way you explained the channel and your family in the intro was great, and the clips that went with it were perfect,, 30 seconds isnt nearly enough time but you killed that intro!! epic spot , the way the waves run along the beach is so sick, and those carvings were epic,,, hope all is well , thanks for all the great vids, theyre something i look forward to !!! see yah in the next 1!!!❤✌🤙
Awwww thanks Cam, Thought I should do a better intro because a few people might be interested in this spot, so give them the brief of who we are. It's an epic spot here... Bring on the 10k, imagine getting that by christmas, We'll have to see what happens I guess aye... Got a load of negative comments on videos this weekend though, must be a few jealous people around. Hope you getting some warmer days out surfing bro.
@leopardsgowild negative comments come with this bro, who cares ,,, seriously look at your life, of course they're jealous,, if no1 was trolling you wouldn't be doing it right... just keep it up, look at what you've done in3 years!!! Just think what can happen in 3 more..👍✌️❤️🚐🌊🤙💯
Yeah, that's Our favorite place on the 2 Islands. It was just gorgeous. You guys parked right where You Parked we had our supper there. Watch the movie and then we moved over to the. Boat launch on the other Bay. To take photographs at night and then we just slept there. we broke the rules. up on that hill where the Carved post R. Is usually the best place for a phone signal.
really this was your favourite site of your whole stay? it sure is a beautiful spot here, both bays are so great for families, nice to see all the fish returning to the area, I Imagine they might turn this area to a Marine reserve, it would make sense to, I think if it opened up to fishing again, all those bigger fish would be gone in a week.
Crackin' vid Mike. Had to have a laugh while we watched it, literally parked up at Maitai Bay, in a howling easterly, with the van rocking. What you showed is what we remembered from our last stay. But, you can't always pick the weather!
Hi guys✋. Your videos are very professional, oh how you have progressed so much from your early ones, great content as always. Looks a fantastic spot up there and so warm still, cooling off in the South Island now and the nights are drawing in. You make some mouth watering meals chef Mike, I’ll give that chick marinate a go, looks delicious. Can’t wait to see your next adventure from the Leopards go wild. Safe travels team👍
Cheers mate, we def do eat pretty well out of this caravan... It's fun when we start running out of food to see what we can come up with. Yes videos have gotten better with time, I think each time I make a video I think,... I should have said that.... Included that... Showed that... And then I put it in the next video, so 200 videos later, here we are.
@@leopardsgowild your doing a great job mate ❤️ them and it’s great keeping track of where you are and what you’ve been up to 😊👍. When are you hitting the South Island again?
Water looks stunning. We stayed a while at Ramp Road. So good right beside the beach. You seem to have a lot more luck with the fishing than us. Well done.
I think my fishing luck comes down to me walking half the distance out by foot lol... It does mean I'm soaked, and sometimes cold... You guys caught some good fish at Coromandel if I remember though. This time of the year is good for fishing.
Wow that is where your guys caravan is named after, that’s pretty trippy, I think I’ve been there before, was the name of the marae…Haiti tai marangai? Awesome video, marvellous content! Wow the booking campsites is best planning! Woohoo squishy sand! Arohanui ki te whānau Leopard❤️
Hey Teresa I'm not sure of the Marae at the end of this road, it's private access only so we didn't venture down there. It's a beautiful place out here on the Karikari Pennisula, so many beautiful beaches, and clear water we love it, not to mention looking at all those fish.
Yea mate, you'll need to plan an extra long North Island trip at some point and head all the way up here with the caravan. So many cool things to see and do, and all the beaches are stunning.
Thanks team, that 6k came around quite quickly which is nice. We should probably do a live video at some point and see what kind of convo we can stir up with everyone.
yea fishing has been awesome, right time of the year for it as well, heading to a good spot for Easter so hopefully the fish are biting. What are ya'll up to for Easter?
Hey the carvings are beautiful there is so much to see and do up here, as long as you love beaches and fishing. the Carvings or tall standing ones like this are generally called, Pou

My "chicken curry" doesn't have a specific recipe... more a general ingredient list.
best way to keep it then you never have to look for that paper or get ya phone out... "needs more curry"
