Steve Ditko helped realize what would become my favorite Marvel superhero, if not my favorite superhero PERIOD. He rests right alongside Jack Kirby as one of the legends of the modern day comic book era.

Also, don't you find it sad, like I do, that Kirby was the first to go of this bunch? I can never shake the suspicion that his resentments killed him.

Loved Ditko's work and his creations will live on past us all. Kurt Vonnegut said in speeches that a plausible mission of artists is to make people appreciate being alive at least a little bit. He said he was then asked if he knew any artists that pulled that off. He replied, "The Beatles did." That could certainly be said of Stan Lee, Steve Ditko and Jack Kirby. Bless you all!

When Jack Kirby died, Jack's biographer Mark Evanier found a 1966 letter from Steve Ditko in Jack's files urging Jack to quit Marvel the same time Ditko did to show Marvel that they can't treat their talent that way. Ditko quit because Marvel had promised the artists royalties should characters they drew be merchandised or sell to television, which happened quickly in the early 1960s. But Marvel refused to share the wealth and Ditko refused to work for someone who would lie to him. Stan Lee never publicly apologized to Ditko for the way he was treated by Martin Goodman and Ditko only went back to Marvel after Goodman sold the company.

The saddest thing is that it's now public fan knowledge that the relationship beteween Stan, Jack, and Steve was in reality, so contentious. Marvel was no Camelot. The big name comic book publi$hing indu$try never was. Both Jack and Steve went to their graves without reconciling with Stan. In Jack's case, I'm sure Stan wishes he could take back some things he did and said. In Steve Ditko's case, Stan at least did his best, but Ditko was just...well difficult and got caught up in semantics and his own one track way of thinking (which limited him in all things). For example, Stan explicitly said he considered Steve to be the co-creator of Spider-Man. Dikto, true to form, wrote a rebuttal dissecting the word "consider". Stan looks well here (for 95), but the fact that we all know (as much as he does) that Ditko hated him, is probably hanging heavy on him as he gives these token words.

      Aten Akehnaton.
If you want to know ...... I read his comics from 1970 and see for some time, the comics made in film I've been waiting for some time.
A myth is that person, in my opinion, that remains a trace of himself for what he did, and for me it is, because when I was a boy they accompanied me when I grew older.
Then also all that he did not stop before the various obstacles he had, perhaps you do not know that DC Comics, was in those days (long before 1970) as a master in the comic strip.
Satisfied with the answer ????Even if you're not for me it's okay anyway.

Steve Ditko was a hypocrite. He hated flawed heroes and grey characters and at the same time makes an anti hero Mr A.
Ditko thinks the only reason Spider-Man is popular is because of his costume, gadgets and powers rather than the fact Peter Parker is a flawed person who has personal struggles. Spider-Man is the polar opposite of his objectivist philosophy.

He created the Creeper, Hawk and Dove, Shade the Changing Man, Stalker, the Odd Man, Starman (the 3rd version), Captain Atom, the Question, and the Blue Beetle, as well as illustrating the Legion of Super-Heroes, Man-Bat, the Demon, and a ton of mystery and science fiction stories.

The con man** He was a con artist. Get a clue. Never created, or did a thing... just brainstormed ideas, never drew a character up, never wrote a character.... he just put bubbles in like HEY! WOW! His IDEA was "hey how about some spider powered hero? like a spider/man?".. THEN STEVE DITKO drew what we know, and love today... the mask, the suit, the colors.... Stan Lee could have been thinking about some guys with 8 eyes, 8 hairy legs... DITKO came up with the look of Peter Parker, the suit, what's cool, and LOVED about him... NOT Stan Lee.

He created himself, he drew himself. Stan didn't. He made Peters school his own school.... he literally wrote the story, the origin, drew everything... Stan did not, but most people are clueless to this. Cause Stan shows his face in every movie he could til his rich, piece of shit ass died. Good riddens. He was wrong to his fellow slaves. He til he died claimed HE created Spiderman. He wouldn't agree to Steve being CO CREATOR. That's on youtube... look up alan moore talking about him... he literally would not agree to poor Ditko being CO-fuckin creator. Would not say yes... sat quietly changed his words up. Scum bag.
"I think the guy who comes up with the original idea is the creator" Instead of saying Ditko is co-creator lmfao... Stan should be lucky to be called co-creator.
Imagine saying "What about a spider powered hero?" (when that's all they did all f'n day, rhino powers, dolphin powers, stan has said they would talk about dozens a day) then your buddy goes and works for days on the character, comes to you with spiderman comic... and you say to him "I created that". As Steve Ditko looks in shock.. Steve Ditko hated Stan in the end... Wonder why. Wonder why Stan loves to put HIMSELF in every comic, every movie, without doing anything else. I haven't looked at him the same since... was happy when he died. So I don't have to see his stupid, selfish, corny ass cameos anymore.. Man lived a rich, lavish life, and was praised for shit he didn't do...

@@batman4452Do you think Stan Lee was a designer NO he was a writer no a designer try to work your little brain, Stan Lee created Spider-Man with Steve Ditko these two created the most iconic character in pop culture you say that stan lee was a thief not at all without stan he would never have had Iron man, from FF, Avengers, X-men, Spider-man ect..., where you saw that stan lee was a designer, the only thing that poses a problem it's that stan lee has almost all the credits and I agree Jack Kirby and Steve ditko don't deserve to be in the shadow of stan lee the three merits.

@@loranenzo8225 Try to work my little brain? You're the butthurt one with a little brain who can't realize Stan was a conman. Jack Kirby, and Steve Ditko created most of those characters, drew all them, and Stan took their creations who claimed them has his creations. Do your research, and stop being so butthurt little baby.
