  • To race fans around the world, Sammy Swindell's sprint car career is fairly-well documented, so much so that we sometimes forget that the Memphis, Tennessee driver raced in NASCAR and IndyCar competition. In Part 4 of "AT HOME WITH SAMMY SWINDELL", Sammy talks about his career in NASCAR, his stories about Dale Earnhardt, Sr., and his infamous attempt at the Brickyard when he got bumped from the Indy 500 field in the final two minutes of qualifying. Sammy also talks about his time at Eldora, and how the track has changed from the Earl Baltes era to the Tony Stewart era...all this and more. Thanks for your support! #HistoryMysteryMan #SammySwindell #DaleEarnhardt #NASCAR #IndyCar #Indy500 #SprintCars #EldoraSpeedway #MemphisTennessee

So good to hear from all these guys... they won't be around forever. Steve will always be the king... Sammy and Doug not very far behind. Sammy has so much no-how..

I became a Sammy fan at the age of 10.
I was racing Karts a yr. later & I remember my Dad teasing Me with remarks like "Just Relax Swindell, your race isn't up for awhile". He knew I loved Sammy and I got it from him yelling at the TV "C'mon Sammy, Runm' Down"!!! It was usally Steve He was referring too. ESPN back in the 80's would show Sprints & Midgets. Back when cable was new

Don I just watched all 4 parts of this amazing series, Sammy was as is a unique individual, he was a master at finding out what the cars needed to always be competitive, he could build a race car from the ground up, definitely a dying breed. Thanks Don.

Great stories. Have to call you out Sammy. Roger Rager would have been the last stock blocker at Indy 1980 Rookie of the Year. Keep up the great work HMM!

Very enjoyable! Great interview, as always. Sammy and Earnhardt had much the same style. If they couldn't scare you into it, they would wreck you! Thanks again for the entertainment!
    Happy Trails and Safe travels!

Very good once again. Great story about the nascar stint. Great insight that we never would have heard. I saw him in the old ARS indy car series in ‘83 out in Phoenix. He tried a lot of different things for sure! Dale Sr. story was 💰💰money💰👏👏👏

I'm learning so much more about Sammy from your series Don. What a complete racer. As the saing goes 'he is the real deal'. I'm so glad the race season is back underway in Ohio. I'm seriously thinking of going to Attica on May 19 for the WOO sprints. Eldora just got me going this year. Time for more tracks.
