Great video guys! Very impressed with the thorough upgrades made to the Cinema 30 over the 8015 which I already enjoy immensely. Phil is a great brand rep as he's knowledgeable and excited about these new products. And thank you Marantz engineers for making these awesome machines!
I just upgraded to the C30 from a C50 and Rotel external amp. Different planet performance wise. Not cheap but absolutely worth it to me. This thing just feels special and exudes quality. That metal remote...lovely

Six height speaker channel outputs! This is one of the few receivers that has this capability, right? I don’t even think there is a movie mastered in Dolby Atmos to take advantage of this yet but how incredible that the Cinema 30 has this option!
I appreciate Marantz, having owned their AVRs and Processors (8805) for years. But I don't know about the benefits of HDAM. I recently switched to an ARCAM AV41 and I am getting noticeably improved clarity and dynamic range. For example, I recently re-watched Dune Part 1 and it was ridiculous all of the little audio effects and quiet dialogue that I never heard during multiple viewings of the movie with my 8805; dynamic range was also ridiculously improved since I was literally shocked / blown away during transitions from quiet to loud in a manner with the ARCAM that I had never before experienced with any other product. Again, Marantz is not bad at all and it holds a special place in my heart since their products have been the heart of my system for the better part of a decade... but ARCAM (even with my manual calibration, but especially with DIRAC) is a definitive upgrade over Marantz IMO. (Marantz is way more user friendly, though. So as long as you can get over the learning-curve of using the ARCAM and you don't care about its outdated GUI, I think you'll agree with me.)
@@whitecrowuk575 How do you know that the AV41 won't eventually get ART? And I do see the Marantz improvements, including the apparent ability to turn the HDAM effects off. But HEOS was always extremely buggy on all of my Marantz products, and I just can't get over the improvements in room correction (maybe moot now,) dynamic range, and clarity with ARCAM.
I just picked up an 8015 on close out. It sounds amazing! My strategy is to buy flagship products when they can be found at a steep discount (40% or so). So I'm three years behind the latest and greatest but you can get much better sound per dollar this way. There's no doubt the new Cinema 30 is an awesome product and I'll lie in wait until a great deal can be found!
I appreciate that Marantz/Denon work with Sony 360 spatial but I’m not going to an Amazon firestick or other Amazon streaming product. What I would like from Marantz/Denon in the future is support for two sets of side surround speakers for those with multiple rows.
I really hope the 30 can get Dirac ART. I am badly in need of a new preamp/receiver to replace my Marantz 7007 but I am really trying to hold out until something more reasonable supports ART and this on the used market would be nearing the price I would call reasonable. Hopefully it would also work on the 50 since I do not really need the wattage so that extra cost would be a waste of money for me. I only use the receiver amps for side channels.
@Audioholics Hey Gene, I was wondering with your next catch up with Phil Jones if you could bring up the issue with the DTS Virtual:X virtualizer still being prohibited from using Dolby signals? This cross-format upmixing restriction issue that is still present even on the latest D+M X6800H/Cinema 30 AVR models has been a pet peeve of mine for quite some time, the Dolby cross-format restrictions have been abolished now for the past 4 years so this really shouldn't be present anymore on D+M's AVR/AVPs, can you please bring it to Phil Jones' attention or your contact at Masimo, it'd be greatly appreciated if they could remove this restriction in a future firmware update :)
I was waiting for this model to come out but I got such a good price over here in the UK on the Denon AVC-X8500HA (no tuner over here so an AV amp as opposed to a receiver and I have a separate tuner anyway) so I decided to buy it. I bought it for £2,249 so it was a no brainer for me. My previous AV amp was the Denon AVC-A11XV but of course no Dolby Atmos or DTS:X capability plus with the 8500HA I have the latest HDMI spec and other up to date specs, I had the 11XV for eighteen years and it's still "like new". I'll let you work out the £ to $ conversion on the 8500HA.
The great news is that the EU/UK AVC-X8500HA variant has MPEG-H (Sony's 360 Reality Audio) support like the latest models 2022/23/24 D+M AVR/AVP models ;)
I had a Denon X6700H for a few weeks an returned it regarding video degradation. Was thinking about going to Marantz sr8015 but was told it used the same video processing board. So now I’m wondering should I go with the Onkyo RZ70 or the Sony 5000es. But sad I wouldn’t have the ability to add a external amp for 13channels. Oh and all are currently available for $2,000. Thoughts?
This new company that took over Marantz and Denon are going to lose money because these prices are ridiculous. I want to upgrade my Marantz SR-6015 but not at these prices. I mean I'm not poor but I'm not rich either.
Yeah, would be happy to upgrade if there was something meaningful. They barely improve, in denon case they went backwards with higher price. I want more channels, more power, possibly ditching the ab class to higher power d class, 200w per channel at 5 channel driven would be nice, 100 sinad, and 15.2 channel processing minimum. Could pay 5000usd for that but no more.
To get something significantly better you would need a Storm/Trinnov etc and they will cost three times as much. So the pricing of the Denon/Marantz is fair in context of the market
