WOW! Well done!!! She TOTALLY deserved her gold medal! I still don't think the music is totally "her" (I LOVE her 2007 and 2008 programs SO much) but wow, she put her heart and soul into this program. I am British and I love how Italian audiences appreciate GREAT skating whatever nationality. They are gracious, passionate and knowledgable!
i love how mao can pull herself together so easily. she gets back up from tough grand prix season, then manages to get a 4th national gold, a 4CC gold, but then she gets an olympic silver, then trains every single day for two weeks two win a second world title. amazing.
what i really don't understand is how on earth yuna got a higher score than mao. not only did she make two mistakes, she doesn't have that spark that she used to, which mao does. congratulations mao! good luck next season!!
it's amazing because they got rid of figures because audiences were furious seeing great programs that didn't make champions. this new system is making that happen all over again. it shouldn't be hard to judge skating accurately. jumps should be downgraded when they are visibly cheated, not when you need to look at replay. pcs scores are a joke. congradulations mao! love your skating!
why she got lower score than Yuna Kim who failed to jump twice? more than obvious Mao performed better than Yuna with no major mistakes. Yuna is so overrated. she let down other skaters coz they just got no chance to beat Yuna even if they perform perfectly while Yuna with sloppy performance but high score.
Congrats Mao! I'm glad you were properly rewarded at last. I could never agree with the judges though, that this performance itself was only worth a silver medal. You skated best overall, and I think the audience new that. Best of all next season!
do you think Mao has no artistry?! I mean, this programme was filled with it but people always thinks a non sophisticated choreography with flirty eyes and skanky looks to the camera is artistry. People is just wrong
@mark60060 >why she got lower score than Yuna Kim who failed to jump twice? no idea... i'm afraid ISU focusing too highly on 'how artistic the performance is", instead of "how challenging it is". i do love kim's beautiful skating, even so, let's not forget the basic fact "figure skating is a SPORT"! Hello! yes, i'm Japanese, but this is not the only reason i admire Mao and Takahashi. They both have the gut to take a risk to try technically challenging jumps! besides, they skate very well.
@muscleboi4use I think that at last she got this program as "her own". This music is "The bells" (Prelude for piano in C sharp minor) by S. Rachmaninoff. Someone wrote in other place as below about Mao's performance in January 2010 of this program. ========================== (1) I am Russian, and I understand this music very well. It's alarm bells, which tell about long and bad times - war, fire, revolt, etc. Mao felt the music, understood it and showed the correct mood.
i luv mao so much...though both yuna' s and mao's styles are great......i just think that yuna kim is such a copycat....she is just trying to skate like michelle kwan(which is yuna's role model) , and y know what? michelle kwan is unique and is a legend, whoever tries to copy her is just CHEAP.....she should put more her into the skating and create a new style,,,,, like mao ,who skates both elegantly and fiercely
@phronesis6 I thank you for making me look at the program again. I certainly feel she and this program have "grown together" (if that can be possible?) And, here, I think she was the deserved winner. I think she has grown as an artist on the ice, this really is VERY difficult and original music to skate to (not heard it used before, please correct me if I am wrong!). Originality should also be rewarded. BUT, can I like BOTH Mao Asada AND Yu Na Kim, it seem many think you can only like one?!
@phronesis6 again, I want to thank you. I love classical music and I will certainly be downloading and listening to this again and again. As I said, I would like to think someone can like and respect both Mao Asada and Yu Na Kim just as someone can like both Rachmaninoff and Gershwin. But I say again, here in Torino Mao skated better than Kim. Yu Na Kim is good, but she is also human and here she made mistakes. Mao didn't make any and skated perfectly.
she did well, at least better than her Vancouver performance. however, I can't help but feel that she skates without the fluidity, as she seems to skate element to element...nevertheless, i wish her luck in coming WC in Japan.
LOL I laugh at all the unnecessary hate for Yuna Kim. Mao won this World Championship, didn't she? Isn't that what matters? Stop trashing other skaters, it makes you look immature and ignorant.
@Okachev Mao didn't make a huge mistake though, she could NOT deliver every single jumping element PERFECT. One example, her 3A combination, her second jump was not double (i guess). If there is not enough rotation, downgrade. Inappropriate use of (in or out) edge, also downgrade. I am not a judge, so I have to admit the judges. If I don't, Mao's gold medal can be also bullshit, right? Likewise you said, this is a SPORT!!! BWT, congrat Mao & her effort. :) Yuna & Mao, it is good rivalry.
my goodness... you people are SO annoying! mao won in 2008 even when she fell on her triple axel and didnt perform any rotations whatsoever and lost around 15 seconds of skating time but she still managed to win. this is a similar situation but mao still won! stop hating on yuna kim. they are both the best skaters.
Okay guys QUIT HATING ON BOTH SKATERS. I mean like seriously? I find that Kim Yuna did deserve the championship but that has nothing to do with hating on her. Oh, and you know what? I find Yuna a bottom hole but i still love her skating to Mao's because its my opinion. Don't go raging on a person without actually doing some background research. Sure, Mao is presumably a 'fighter'. but if Yuna wasn't one, then how did she climb to the top? In fact, i haven't heard of this Mao until 2 minutes ago. so quit raging and just watch the Olympics. Nobody gives a darn about what you think.
Mao Asada, Congratulations!!! You are the best.
love mao! shes amazing! she has the best spiral and step sequence out of all the ladies!
Bravissima Mao!!! ;-) Grazie per il bellissimo video!
Way better than corrupted Kim😔
she is the best....she deserves it
félicitations Mao!! mais ISU est morte!!

CONGRATULATIONS MAO!!!
TWO-Time WORLD CHAMPION!!!
You are the only person deserving of this after all the struggles you OVERCAME!

the easiest way to get gold medal is giving money to ISU.
@StereoJunpei

@oracle176188 where can i watch the canadian commentary video??? please i've been searching for english commented versions all along!!!
@oracle176188 thx a lot!! : D
@yiZEnE no. kim yuna
W CAROLINA KOSTNER... : )
ha pattinato meglio e con più grazia....

Asada's Axel jumps toward the back.
Even a double axel ....
It is not the Axel jump.
