You have the wrong kind of shears. You have offset shears, essentially powered aviation snips. You need a double cut shear, which has two fixed anvils with a single blade cycling between them. It creates a thin strip of waste in the 'kerf' but it creates clean edge.
If you are worried about people running into the posts with vehicles, you should add some reflective tape at driver's eye level. That way you never have to worry about the lights burning out or going bad over time. You can probably find something that would blend in really well and only be noticeable at night if you are worried about aesthetics.
Maybe you could make a “building your first bar” series! Like buying the basic equipment, what starter drinks to learn, maybe make like a serving surface? Would be super cool!
You’ve changed to whole look of your building. It’s really looking fantastic Johnny! Your pre drill segue was perfect, I’m telling my tv “stack them and pre drill”. Your editing timing was perfect!
Definitely want to install a gutter across the front of the porch. Also, hindsight you could have slid the top flashing behind the wall siding at the lap joints of the wall siding, although the way you did it seemed to work pretty fast. Shop is looking awesome my friend!
I agree with the waviness on the impact nibbler. My cuts were like that a lot until i figured it out. All i can say is don't fight it when it cuts, the battery will go from basically touching the sheet to being in the air throughout the cut. Use it more and you'll get the knack of it.
Looks good Johnny. The ends of the gable end trim seems nice to get a nice deep gash on your head just when you forget they are there. I don't know how that would happen but yeah.
You absolutely will need to install a gutter on the porch and from personal experience I would recommend a gutter guard while you're at it. You have plenty of big trees around the shop so it will be a problem eventually. I just installed them on my mom's house. Best customer ever! Sandwiches, hot food and coffee. Go mom! Her house is surrounded by tall trees in the neighbor's yard so we decided to surround the house with guards.
You finally went into the attic and pushed the siding out. How about sliding them horizontally behind the side panels? Next time! thanks for a good video.
You knocked this one out of the park! Please consider some kind of barrier, or even just a curb in front of the porch. Don’t want anything happening to that beauty!
@@haphazard1342 i'm not good with english. so is more yease to use a punch tool (like a pointy tip screw driver) that you hit with the hammer and goes thru the metal sheets, predrill creates metal shavings that go thru the metal sheets and when you drag the sheet on top you may damage the paint with the metal shading. just look at R&R buldings channel they go in more in depth with this process as they use metal sheets from roofing to sidings
for the shears - having support on both pieces helps, and managing your pace will dictate how much of that wave is noticeable Crafted Cocktails sounds like a great second channel I'd love to see you do something like a chainfall or stacked pots (fountain style) or another creative technique of diverting the runoff of the gutters but also adding more character to the exterior. loving this build
Your cutting attachment will cut smooth the other direction. Look at the blades and plan your cut with the proper side of the blades on the outside. When I first got this tool for my business, I had smooth cuts and then wavy cuts. It comes down to position of the blades, so find the right direction and plan your cuts accordingly
I was going to suggest pre-drilling the holes in the roofing, but you figured it out. The added aesthetic benefit is the screw lines are nicely straight. A tip, use a cobalt bit, it'll do exceptionally well with a cordless drill (lower rpms). One bit would probably hold up through the entire building covering. Yeah, you'll find pre-drilling wall metal is entirely beneficial.
I'd say reach out to RnR buildings for tips on cutting the roofing material. I know you're a DeWalt fanboy but Milwaukee has a snip that they use over there with great success.
Hey , Those sheathing panels above the roof need to be sealed also to keep the bugs out and any wind driven rain also. Just like you did on the roof panels .
@@craftedworkshop The fire block stuff might be required blah blah lol . I see you plan on drop ceilings . FYI on a windy day in a factory showroom by me I saw a ceiling twice the size of your shop got tossed into the loft area by a gust of wind from an open outside door . I was really surprised to see the manufacturer call for fasteners in the low spots of the roofing metal. I always thought you were supposed to install on the high part.

The same thing occurred to me--just slide it through the vertical lap joints. Oh well, hindsight is 20/20.
I've driven past your new place so many times. Didn't know there was anything back there. Great video as well love seeing it come together.

You should put some of those car proof pillars along the front of the shop for extra protection
They are called bollards.
I like your lock screen
I love how you show all your boneheaded mistakes. We all do these same things. Authentic, baby!
Use a punch for preholes in the you will not end up with metal between the panels. tip from R&R buldings
A hole punch or a center punch? He did pre-drill, which seems like an even better solution since it also acts as a guide when installing the screws.
@@haphazard1342 R&R builders has great explanations for why a punch is better. No metal shavings.

Great video Johnny. The workshop renovations videos are very good. The front of your workshop needs your logo just above your porch now.
@rrbuildings for all your metal roofing and siding info. Man is an artist.
Looking REALLY GOOD! Can't wait to see it all painted with a Crafted logo up there!
Back when I did roofing, we just put a wood blade in a skill saw backwards to cut metal panels. Makes for a pretty clean cut.
Always offset your string line. Even just an inch and measure back. Keeps it from creeping 😎
Good tip. Also managed to cut the line with one of the panels, those edges are sharp!
@@craftedworkshop also check out RR Buildings he’s a wizard with all things roofing 👌🏻😎
Great work man. Loving watching the new shop transform!
Great job and great finish .it's tough when you don't have help. Just set 📐 your mind to the task and it will get completed.

Throw some reflective tape on the posts at knee height to warn cars 😉

"one piece" screen wallpaper really caught my eye.... let's go...
+1 for the cocktail channel
They also make nibbler attachments now. Much more control for thin and small jobs (from my experience only)
That porch overhang turned out looking great Johnny! What a massive amount of work! 👍👍
CraftedCockails? Um...yes!
project is really looking great.
Malco makes a folding tool for bending sheet metal. Model 24F has a 3/8” and 1” slot for bending up to 24” long flanges. Check it out on Amazon.🇨🇦
Such awesome work!!
For those flashing end bends I'd look at the Harbor Freight 96523 sheet metal folding tool.. $12 well spent.
The one piece screen saver should deserve a sub from people haha.
Don't think we missed that One Piece background 👍

Can you share a link for the magnetic GoPro holder seen around the 9:50 mark. Great progress!

Have really enjoyed watch you remodel that shop. Well done. The solar lights... where did you get them. They look like good ones. Thank you.

You need heavy duty crash post to protect your porch uprights and the front of your building
Score the metal with a utility knife before bending, makes a cleaner bend
It was a mission but it looks awesome
Great vid
What did I take away from this video? Johnny is a One Piece fan!
my neighbors drip edge isn't overlapping, When the wind blows it flaps back and forth making the most unholy sounds that can be heard inside my house.

How you installed the drip edge makes it useless. but hey it looks good. ^^

This is common on metal roof panels that have some minimal slope, like 1.5:12 or more.
If you put the screws on the high spot. The panel will spread out and move.
Is the porch roof loud when it rains?

solar painels ? ☺
What is a "section of the him" mean?
Put the butyl tape on the top of the previous panel not the underneath of the next panel.
is there a concern with the treated lumber rotting the metal I have Sean aluminum rot when on treated wood???????????????????????
