      BBE Sonic Maximizer, no fucking clue what it does, or how it does it. Used to be all the rage back in the day (although I personally never jumped on that bandwagon).

    The cool thing about the Analogman Chorus (regardless which format you get) is it almost makes a Vibe of some sort totally optional, if not redundant. A lot of those sounds live in that pedal.

    👍 One of my fav pedals! Had the mini with just the mix knob and fixed depth for donkey years. Really nice. Sold it recently and got the exact same one as yours, with the mix knob and depth switch. Very versatile, from subtle chorus to wild crazy swirls.
    Interesting observation about the clock noise, 'cos I dun hear it (maybe 'cos I'm always playing clean with the chorus). Have to test it out this weekend.

    To think anyone would be ashamed to admit they liked an effect makes my head spin. I come from a particular upbringing I guess. That's like questioning someone's manhood. People get punched over stuff like that. I like chorus, but only very subtle chorus most of the time. And nowadays I would likely only use it for one song and one part. Probably acoustic. This pedal is just too thick in effect for me. I had an H2O pedal like that once. Dual effects. An analog sounding chorus and analog sounding delay. I never used the chorus for that same reason. It was just to overbearing.

    Woe.... for a moment i thought Frank Marino ( Mahogan Rush) was playing! as for the pedal... anything Mike Piera touches just turn , if not gold, quite freaking! At one time, i bought a pedal from someone on Ebay or elsewhere, who then shipped it to Analog Mike to have it modified and shipped to me... And all went smooth... I dig Analogman pedals!

    I'm surprised that you didn't play "No More Tears" to get a reference. You should try MXR Microchorus, you can cover Nirvana, Def Leppard and even Richie Faulkner of Judas Priest has one on all the time before hitting his amps. I'm assuming you have this before the drive from the clock noise. After drive/in fx loop gives less noise but I prefer chorus/flanger/phaser before drive.

    • @LeonTodd
      @LeonTodd  2 роки тому +1

      Yeah chorus like this I also prefer pre-drive as a "character" effect

  • @kalebaldwin5398

    One of the first pedals I ever owned was a chorus pedal (DOD FX65!), so I fell in love with chorus even though it wasn't 'cool'. I was told it was only for clean tones (for the obligatory 80s power ballads that every bar band played), and that it had to go in this thing called an effects loop. Nonsense. I stuck that thing in front of my distorted amp and figured out I could get that big sound I was hearing on Rush songs. And when I turned the speed up, I could mimic a fast Leslie.
    To this day, that's what I use chorus for; to do the Leslie thing, and to do the Lifeson thing. And when it's the FX65 (a different one now, as my old one died on me), it's always in front of distortion.

    • @LeonTodd
      @LeonTodd  2 роки тому

    • @kalebaldwin5398
      @kalebaldwin5398 2 роки тому

      @@LeonTodd And now, chorus (and the 80s in general) is 'cool' again. It's funny how nostalgic trends come and go. But I will say that I'm not looking forward to the inevitable return of frosted tips and whatever else was hot in the late 90s/early 2000s.
      Also, I'm loving the renewed interest in older rack effects. I would've really appreciated it in the early days of UA-cam.

    Can't go wrong with Analogman's stuff. Regardless of the effect, they always have that organic sound that reacts very well to your dynamics. How the effect happens is also predictable. They don't get fancy with options, but they always impress.
