why is "the print" afraid of naming the contractor in the video?
It is on hold because the people who are supposed to be fed, are still hungry even after 14 years. Period.

Hello, I expected analysis as to the factors causing delay. You have explained nicely about delay in first 84 kms passing through Karnala Sanctuary, BOT then EPC, cancellation of contract, award of contract to new contractor in 2022. You could have commented on status improvement since then till this episode instead of only quoting NHAI. There was simply no mention of what caused delay in balance portion since all clearances were in place. Perhaps you can make another episode for this? Thanks.
Seems like an amateur coverage focussing on peddling a political line rather than detailed analysis of on ground facts, vendor situations, geographic challenges, etc. Really need better journalism from the self proclaimed "independent" media agency

What do you expect corrupt politicians, contractors and bureaucrats to do? Why don’t you also cover some corrupted and compromised projects inside Bombay? Like widening the Akurli bridge on the North bound lane on WEH at Kandivili Samata nagar? As per TOI report, it was deadlined for August. Another project: east-west flyover at Borivli opposite Oberoi towers.
We people from konkan r not in hurry. Let it be completed within 25 years so that CONCERNED GOVT. Will get an OPPORTUNITY TO INAUGURATE Mumbai Goa Highway on the eve of Silver Jibilee year. WE HAVE PATIENCE.

11:56- wrong INDAPUR city route shown (Pune-solapur route). It shoud be INDAPUR in KONKAN!
I drove from Mumbai to guhagar off chiplun and back over last weekend and seriously except two bad stretches of about 1-2 km each between wakan to veer station, the road doesn't have what can be called potholes. Since one tunnel has started in kashedi ghat, once you reach veer station, it's butter smooth drive till chiplun. In fact I drove back to Mumbai confidently on Sunday night in 7 hours after seeing the road condition while going on Saturday.
This is very nice to hear against the backdrop of only bad news about this highway.
The print had already jumped into MH Assembly elections on behalf of George Rajiv Gandhi

I have used this Mumbai Goa road, especially from Panvel to Nagothane regularly from 1989 to 2019. The travelling experience of those 30 years was painful, horrible and time consuming. Now I am retired and spending life with spine ailment. Numerous people may be suffering like me.
There are a number of UA-camrs making regular update videos on the road construction and condition. One can get a good idea of the progress through their videos.
I live in that belt it's absolutely terrible. They've literally installed pever blocks on the national highway. My city had a protest for the road last week for the same.

Reality is very different. I drive quiet frequently from Mumbai to Goa. You can't travel from panvel to mangaon. Wastes of time n fuel n your car will need major repairs. I take the expressway, exit at khalapur and go via nizampur onto nh66 at mangaon. From there till chiplun is almost done, 90 percent. Chiplun town overpass is stuck, no work for the last 18 months. Nothing! Beyond till Sangmeshwar market is again okay with some stretches almost completely ready. Sangmeshwar to Lanja is the challenge. Not even 50 percent complete. Then from oni till banda total concrete. Rajapur overpass is only one way for 2 years. Can't fathom y they don't clear the obstruction for the other side. Dec2024, who are yo kidding. U want fresh inputs just check UA-cam and you will find regular updates. Do your homework. Its not difficult

Simple Konkan is not Nagpur where prime politicians stay, whereas Konkan is mill workers and hardworking labourers settlement, which is why there's no infrastructure till now..
Mill workers were from Ghats. Konkanis are lazy.
Konkan is known for its nature and villagehood. Building big infrastructure will only make it another Mumbai where life is only money.
The politicians in Konkan don't want development of the area because they will become useless for people....as long as people have problems politicians will get importance...

You are not talking about the surface of the roads already completed. I have travelled on it. The ride quality is like a 500 km long rumbler strip.
One reason for the bad state of this particular highway would be the konkan monsoons. When it rains it pours, and Ganesh festival just coming at the outset of the monsoon, the concerns are aggravated. I hope the new highway is completely made out of concrete, to make it more resilient to the konkan rains

At 11.58 clip time, the panvel - indapur map road shown is wrong. It's not Mumbai-Goa highway.
This project is the peak of Indian bureaucracy, poor project planning and corruption.
Wrong map.. showing Indapur in Pune district first and the video says nothing about why work is pending and delayed..

The core reason for the delay of NH66 Mumbai Goa Highway is the NCP. The majn reason why they don't want this highway to be completed is the fact that once this highway is ready less people will use the NH4 Pune Bangalore highway. Now I have been using the NH4 for 10 long years till 2021. The total amount of toll from Pune to Nipani is approx 1000/- one way, so imagine the loss. When this Mumbai Goa Highway is complete it will cut short the travel time by a half as compared to Pune Bangalore highway. Since most of the tolls on NH4 are handled by NCP, they are trying different ways and means to block the development of NH66. This is definitely a political issue which most people of Maharashtra are aware. My suggestion to the Maharashtra CM would be to create a separate express highway from Mumbai to Goa which will bypass this never-ending NH66 Mumbai Goa Highway.

800 km long samruddhi mahamarg, was constructed in 3 years but it was an all and all state government initiative. on the other hand Mumbai Goa Highway is a part of national Highway initiative. Central Government and agencies are involved here. and yet there is no resolution in terms of contractor led delays.
Forget the highway, mumbai metro projects remain stalled for decades. Maharashtra is where i fra projects come to die
The biggest roadblock is the land acqisition.
Even small pieces of land reqired for buiding higway get embroiled in litigation
Add to that the apathy of elected representatives who did not for their selfish reasons did not persue the matter.
As a native of Konkan who stays in Mumbai after birth, going by road to native place is a torturous journey.

Just before Ganpati festival they do repair work in rain, which will hardly lasts for a month.
Quality of work is very poor that every year during Monsoon, previous years work washes away.
Even on the stretches completed, the quality is shoddy and lane marking, crash barriers etc is missing. why isnt NHAI insisting on uniform standards?
What about the nightmare drive on the Western Express Highway well within Mumbai? Wonder if it’s a road or patchwork waiting to come off every few weeks. And the various projects like the Akurli bridge going on forever. Shameless BMC and spineless people of Mumbai, who keep enduring this gross injustice without a whimper!

Other reasons for the delay is because activities and NGO are more headache to government projects its allows politicians to loot more
This video analysis is not in line with title. It has not shared analysis of why it was delayed than single liners like contractor had funancial trouble. On a different note route showing Indapur on map is not the town Indapur on this highway but another town with same name. I would expect more investigative journalism on this type of topic. Hope you do better research and recreate this video witu real content.

The quality of this highway is just not in par with the other highways even it is complete. The ride quality and leveling is horrendous and it will deteriorate every year. Considering the regions importance its quite baffling as other regions there are top notch highways, so its not that it cannot be built but something is stopping from happening in this stretch.
At 11.55, Map showing Panvel Indapur stretch is incorrect. It is showing Indapur in Pune district and not Raigad. Please correct. The Mumbai Goa highway is a sorry story despite double engine sarkars over time. Nobody cares for the Kokan Manoos who has to endure pain year after year. Totally Pathetic state of affairs.
I challenge every minister to have a ride from Panvel to Mangaon in State bus.

It will take another 17 Years to complete. I feel sorry for the people of Kokan but they themselves to be blamed for electing same politicians who have failed deliver. This highway goes through my village and only 5 % work is completed.
Due to high end lack of interest by authorities and corruption from lowest to highest level these are the only two reasons for delay. Rest reasons are all which can be tackled if there is an interest and dedication by govt officials.

main reason of delay of 14 years is that car owners, bus and heavy commercial truck drivers will be fed up on goa highway and use alternative road as Mumbai Pune express hiways where toll is from Rs 325 to Rs 2000 for single entry. State MSRDC and NHAI is getting huge toll money daily and courrupted toll operators (most of them had political connections)
There are also lots of litigations to extract more money by land owners.
This leads to huge courrptions and delays and use Goa hiway as political tool for last 15 years.
Even today they are not confirming the dead line of complition date.
For info toll tax validity for Mumbai to Pune express hiway is extended upto year 2030 and it will be extended further upto 2040 after complition of missing link between lonawala and khopoli.
People in Maharashtra are fallen death traps laden by MSRDC and NHAI from year 2001.

It's high time that Kokani manus to reject Narayan rane, ramdas Kadam, sunil tatkare, Uday Samant, Kiran Samant, bharat gogavle and their chamchaas all are seen as most corrupt people of this region. Hence kokan people first to reject them and required non violent movement against state and center government about infrastructure of kokan region.

This is armchair reporting. No on ground situation assessment done by the print. If one just reads the contradicting comments on the status of teh highway it becomes evident that the truth is missing. It can only ne doen if on ground reporting was done. Further if this is an important topic the print should commit to report on its status every month - you'll build better credibility that way. Please stop armchair reporting. We expect better.

Your study abt this highway is not up to the mark. You have to first drive through this highway than you will come to know the real problem.
The is no problem abt land Activation Or any other problem particularly the eighty four km of highway. The only problem is the will of the politician's as there is no malai left.
Some fly overs are half constructed since last seven years but since nobody is working on it to complete. Mr Gatkari and other politicians are telling lie. The 84 km of road from Panvel to Indapur will never complete at all.

The main culprit are the people of Konkan ...they don't want development ...they don't want it because it might hurt their all the fishy business they are in.... Konkan can make money in a month that GOA does in a year..but Konkani people will not let that happen.

Let us not say that the work is in progress for last 15-20 years, as nothing happened during Congress NCP rule of 15 years and the actual construction work started only 4- 5 years ago. Further, out of this period, 2.5 years were wasted during UBT govt. It is only a part of the stretch that is causing the bottleneck. And that needs to be settled as quickly as possible. Beyond politics, we should focus on technical issues, if any and sort them out. 2. Of course, politics apart, this highway is a text book case in mismanagement of projects!! 3. In general, compared to even so called BIMARU state like MP, Maharashtra roads are in very bad conditions. In fact, this was always so even in the 60s when Gujarat side of Maharashtra had much better roads than in Maharashtra. Perhaps, we in Maharashtra, learnt very early how to make money out of yearly repairs and kept the quality of roads poor!!! 4. Anyway, let us hope that Goa Highway is finally fully ready by Dec 2024.
Good subject to make an informative video lost by Ms Chitnis. In my opinion she is very biased against current Maha Yuti government and its functioning. I have seen her previous infrastructure related videos (like her video on making of Atal Setu) demonstrating same bias. I would urge her to course correct and limit to presenting facts in her future videos and let viewers do the judgement.

Heading of this video is why this 4 lane highway is stucked. Whereas the lady is talking abt politic and general progress. Current deadline is 31 december 2024. That is only 4 months. Whom they are fooling. Even if they do work on war fooling this will not complete before end of 2025. But if progress remain as current it would be complete before 2027.
The information given by the lady is half true !! It was delayed by the two contractors who were working from Panvel to Mahad sector. The main culprit is Ajit Pawar & his NCP . They have taken huge bribe from the two Contractors,before issuing the workorders.The Contractors gone to Court, as Ajit Pawar' s govt.did not make payment to the Contractors for whatever work they have completed. Pawar & his party leaders ensured that the road work is not completed. The Contractors went to Tribunals & the work stopped.
Eventhough, the BJP came to power i 2014, it took many years to take back the complaints from Tribunal & alot the work to the new Contractors.
In short,Mumbai goa road work has been delayrd by Ajit pawar & Sunil Tatkare.

Last 14 years Konkan population increased but no alternative highways not given importance by BJP. In fact UPA governments around 2/3 sea bridges work kept on hold from last around 10years by BJP - even after there completion status was around 40% done. BJP playing politics in this area- Nitin gadkari is failure minister for Konkan. He is good but become toy of Delhi government. 10days before CM visiting highway - he is bullshit minister and puppet of Delhi. Ask people how they feel while seating 12/14 hours in traffic in non-ac 3rd class buses provided by Maharashtra government - even animals treated well compare to Konkani people get punished on this road. Incredible India - not sure HOW ??

I sincerely hope that 'yet another deadline will be given by the authorities'. It's September already and the promise for construction is December. No one would want a deja vu about hasty construction next year, there are always salty Konkan winds to blame.

looks a clear case of lackadaisical approach and corruption at some level in this so called extravagant projects which cause this quality distortion being happening due to sub standard materials and bureaucratic red tapism being prevalent and also the political interests and builder nexus being the case many a time!! Hope these kind of lapses and mess gets avoided and minimum safety standards are sustained for committed period of life time of such constructions and accountability is taken on mal practices!!

Mam , due to delay cost is increasing , why there should be concreting even tar road also would be better than all promises given . It is very difficult to travel panvel to Ratnagiri bad roads seen with very bad potholes . Infact highway road should be very clear without any potholes .Very bad administration only false n shameless promises 😂
