Yeah first round is hard to judge because Codfish wasn‘t battling at all but delivered a sick performance, while Bataco was battling hard but did a view mistakes / wasn‘t as clean.

I think why Codfish won the semis and finals because he spontaneously fits the counters in his routines and makes us feel that those are original, like here the laser part and in the finals I want my money back part
codfish has a distinctive vibe that hit in EVERY battle. Its a vibe most dream for and few ever get, and those who get it only make a couple of routines that truely hit it home. Codfish is the King for this reason alone
The reason why Codfish is one of the greatest is because he knows how to take the atmosphere and shift it into whatever he wants. I think the first round shows that best. He didn’t use D low’s inverse bass or any advanced techniques. He just used simple techniques but what sets him apart from most beat boxers is that he knows how to use his presence and voice and techniques to mold the atmosphere into whatever he wants. It’s boots and cats on the surface but there’s so much more underground.
I don't think Napom is fanboying here. Codfish's stuff is just too clean and sounds amazing. When gbb 2018 finals, you can see Napom's face reacting to codfish not really of that his usual "Over the top stank face". There's a reason why Codfish is a master of throat bass

Few things i wanna add to the analysis...1st round codfish changed bataco’s energetic crowd into a chill crowd using the whole 1:30 which is a very risky thing to do and thats how confident he is...the chill crowd couldn’t catch bataco’s energy anymore in the 2nd round and codfish just finished him with a fatality combo...codfish got him both on skillset and mindset...on napom fanboying codfish, they livestreamed right before gbb18 and codfish really got napom’s attention...and of course codfish is the cleanest there is... much love Madox ❤️
