@@atultripathi4939 Yes I do agree with what you said for Uniteam vs Kotcha. But that doesn't change the fact that despite the routine eff-up, many people still feel Kotcha should win Personally, I do believe Uniteam was a lot better
Agreed bro, NME was really cool with his songs but you can’t even use the musicality point because Inkie had one of the most beautiful musical songs I’ve ever heard in loopstation and in general too
The biggest difference, from a singer's perspective, is the power behind. Codfish has really good air and you can tell he's focusing on keeping control over his lungs and abdomen to maintain a really balanced and stable dynamic. He doesn't waver pitch because he's keeping his airflow consistent and using exactly the right amount of power to sustain the sounds he's using. D-Low's use of falsetto just doesn't have the same breath support. If D-Low's falsetto was as dynamically strong as Codfish's singing it would have been a much closer battle.
As a musician, first time hearing a beatboxer talk about vocal pitch and dynamics is so refreshing. After all, beatbox is music, and a very special one at that! Can’t wait to hear more of Madox’s reactions.
I feel like one of the reasons why D-low lost here as well was because of the fact he tried to counter Codfish's stuff like he usually does with his other battles, which is one of the reasons he's a such a potent battler. But the thing is, countering just doesn't translate well with a melodic style since there's not as much power behind it, not to mention his rounds just weren't as solid as Codfish's rounds, which is why he lost. Despite the controversy with this battle, I think Codfish won fair and square

It's really interesting and a bit funny to see how much these analysis videos have changed and how you have changed since this first video. I would say you're going in a good direction. Now you have more energy in your videos, better edits, reading comments, you seem to have an easier job explaining what you think than in this older video. To me, it seems like a battle between an experimental vs a golden classic. As D-Low mentioned in the 2019 final, he always tries to bring some new stuff, fresh sounds to the GBB scene but while doing that, he loses a lot along the way, including the battle. Bringing new stuff to the scene is always appreciated and of course, we don't want to see the same esh every year, but this is not a place to experiment with stuff if you don't end up nailing it, especially in the final. Here you have to use your secret weapon, be the best beatboxer you can be. Also, just now I'm thinking, why is it that in this battle where to really big beatboxers - Codfish and D-Low - fight, I don't really feel like this is two final bosses fighting each other but more like an after-school beatbox session for funz? I'm thinking it might be because they don't feel that much rivalry between each other, maybe they didn't really want to fight each other, destroy each other with their best stuff. Let me know what you think. Can two friends battle in a final, or is it better to have two enemies battle? (Are there any "enemies" or "nemesis" in the beatbox world?
I found your channel yesterday and I love it because I’ve been into beat box for 7 years and I’ve been beatboxing for 6 years so keep up the great work

Thanks for doing this. I noticed D-low's struggle to keep in tune as well. Funny you're the first beatboxer analysing this. I also don't think Codfish was always on point, but clearly better than D-low. Plus Codfish used his biggest card in the final round of the final which caused an huge impact. Honestly, I still feel Codfish vs Bataco was closer.
D Low tried to beat Codfish at his own game. Tried to keep it chill and groovy, but that’s not his style. If he had tried to beat Tomazacre at HIS own game in 2019, he would’ve lost then too. I think if he had stuck to his guns and did what he’s strongest at, he would’ve won in 2018 too.

Thank you for the in-depth analysis, Madox! Your opinion holds a lot of weight since you're an audio engineer. And yes, I agree with your opinion. People always argue about Codfish, saying "Ah, he uses throat bass only, I can do it too." I mean, have you seen the amount of comments like that under the _Codfish vs. Bataco_ video (which I think you should review too)? Goddamn. IMO, D-low has a raspy voice that is very suitable for country and horror songs, like his Voodoo beatbox in the GBB 2019 finals. To go high pitch is not very suitable for him (and this is coming from someone who's bad at high pitch too). Plus, I think the way he puts the beats between the words in 1:05 is quite off. Yes, it's still in 4/4 time, but the position of the beats and words doesn't sound that nice IMO. Meanwhile, it's true Codfish's main skill is throat bass, but he integrates throat bass with his type of voice. That's the reason it sounds nice to hear. He polished it to the point that he can control the pitch and still maintain that bass sound. You can compare it to D-low's unique, deep inward bass. Now, that's not to say that he doesn't need to improve. IMO, the interval in which he switches tempo in 13:40 is too short, which might sound weird, especially if you're trying to bop to the song. And Codfish's style doesn't allow him to counter beats easily, which can be a good or bad thing. I think that the moral of the story is that people should not judge beatbox solely on the number of unique sounds you can use, but more towards how polished those sounds are. It's like weapons; an experienced swordsman would be better than one who carries multiple weapons but doesn't know the strength of each one properly. Thank you for coming to my TED rant talk, also nice hairstyle Madox!
Where does that leave innovation though? If beatboxers spam the same routines until they are "polished" enough to win, is it worth anything? I personally find rough routines that have more innovative pattern and sound combos better than the same routine being used at several events until its good
@@Necron00b well you are choosing quantity over quality that's all.yess innovation is important but staying true to the music theory is important as well for the growth of beatbox as an art

Where does that leave innovation though? If beatboxers spam the same routines until they are "polished" enough to win, is it worth anything? I personally find rough routines that have more innovative pattern and sound combos better than the same routine being used at several events until its good
This exactly what goes through my head when people are hating on vocodah.
@@Necron00b well you are choosing quantity over quality that's all.yess innovation is important but staying true to the music theory is important as well for the growth of beatbox as an art
Please keep this series on going its amazing and interesting
Finally! Madox standout to prove the most controversial battle in GBB!
I just want you to react to Napom vs Dlow.
This is the time for the fans to accept the fact that the judges is right

Dude I put quality head phones on Codfish sounds sick
Honestly regardless I am glad codfish won because it made dlow come back so much better than he's ever been.

It would be really nice if you give an analysis on dlow vs colaps- gbb 2019. I felt that the battle was very close, and anyone could have won, both were truly capable of winning it. So please, if you could......
And keep up the good work man, great analysis👍✌👍
I love Napom's reactions. I honestly want a Napom cam on in the top corner at all times.
He's honest with opinions. Great brother. Keep it up

Codfish vs Bataco
Colaps vs Dlow
Yessss
Bro he already reacted to it
YEEEEEEES FIIIIINAAALLLY. I’m sorry to D low fans, he is dope, but the mans singing in 2018 (and even some points in 2019) was weeeak. Thank u for pointing this out Maddox. People tend to overlook this for the sake of his structure and ideas(which ARE great!). But IT IS IMPORTANT to point out the difference in the singing between him and codfish. It is EXACTLY as Maddox put it. The ideas where awesome. The execution was suss. This was the main difference for me as well . And I was just as blown away as napom! This video feels like sweet vindication for me!! Thank you Madox !
Hey Madox, remember back when beatbox videos were easier to analyze? Had to come back to catch some vibes. Good luck with the next round in the Kickbacks, Esh!
I don't know why.. when codfish beatbox, it makes me dance
Ooo thumbnail changed😅🔥💖
