As a 35-year veteran, in my opinion, I would say the two companies are on the right track for success in a positive direction. Now, the current and prospective, drivers are gonna have to meet the company halfway, by stepping up their game to meet the demands of being a professional driver in today's industry. You can see the positive improvements between the two carriers since their merger. Nice work, Mutha Trucker
They need to talk to the Greer SC terminal because they have a wall up and don’t let the drivers access in unless the driver leader, team leader, or terminal manager lets you in. They know you by number not name. 😢
I like the fact that they are very driver oriented and that they are just regular people that u can relate too. I’m glad I’m going to knight transportation next week. I’m excited to drive for them

That is so great what knight is doing and the options they have at the terminals also how friendly they are I tried to join but seemed like didn’t work haven’t tried for knight yet and love how it is a training company
I worked for Knight refrigerated twice, evidently, I was a glutton for misery ! The first year was great then went to hell in a basket! The second time, was put on a dedicated grocery account making STOP pay and daily pay. Knight switched terminal managers AND let my DM leave because of the way the new TM, the terminal director of safety and others CUT out our STOP pay AND Cut our DAILY pay with only a two day verbal warning and also stated that ANY DRIVER that comes off the account back to OTR, will take a .10 cent per mile decrease from what we were making before the dedicated
On Numerous attempts to contact HR, with ABSOLUTELY NO contact, the terminal made top sales ,the drivers that took the cut in pay, recieved a hat pin!!!
I worked there 3 years it was good always paid on time I stayed busy and the dispatch and manager alesys remembered my name and helped me every way they could
There remodel of the terminals had nothing to do with the drivers. They took space away from the drivers and gave it to the office workers.Their onboard camera is terrible.Any experienced driver would quit in a week because of that camera
This is the location in Phoenix AZ. None of the other locations across the US look anything like this. Most have 2 showers, a table, and a couple of seats, with a tv, and that's it. The guy they're interviewing basically got canned because the company is losing money and the stock went down because of it. Also, these execs dont even work at this building. They have their own secluded offices nearb, and trucks/drivers never go there. As a driver, the only reason you're ever here is to have maintenance done on the truck. And since the shop takes 2 days for a simple PM service, you're basically sitting in the driver lounge for 2 days waiting. This building was an open warehouse for years, and its taken them many years to finally finish it. It's mostly office staf, and drivers can only go in that area during office hours and only to talk to someone for a few minutes. The rest of the time youre in the driver lounge. The offices hold all Phoenix terminal and SoCal terminal office staff. Now, as far as starting your career here as a driver, its not bad. I would recommend it. They have a CDL school on the back side of this building, or you can go to a school on your own beforehand if you want. But remember, this is still a mega carrier. They take advantage of new drivers. That is their business model. The cpm sucks and there are so many instances where they are supposed to pay you money for layover, breakdown, TONU, being sent out to hunt for empties, etc, and they do not have an automatic mechanism to pay you for these instances. You have to tell them, otherwise they manage to forget to pay you. Even when you tell them, they manage to forget. You have to write everything down and fight for the money they owe you every week. Also, they pay zip code to zip code, and not actual mileage. So you are getting shorted every load. Write down the mileage you actually drove and compare, and you'll find out you're losing out on thousands of dollars. There's a reason this company makes billions in revenue every year and can gobble up other companies all the time. They take advantage of drivers left and right. Dont even get me started on the safety bonus and the cameras in the truck that record 24/7. They magically steal your bonus just a few days before the end of the month, all because someone else cuts you off, and you didn't step on the brake hard enough. There's also the ridiculous fuel bonus and the hoops you have to jump through like a trained money to obtain. Bottom line...get your experience and get out. Move onto a company that pays you what you are worth without creating an environment where you have to jump through hoops for low pay.
That is 1990 it’s 2023 now it’s not the same, you time is the best time in trucking now. Modern driver having it hard with these companies. There is no way you’ll have madden driver doing a million miles with one company now.
I just sent all my info over to my knight recruiter Erika , waiting to hear back soon. Trying to decide either Katy, Tx or Gulfport for orientation! I’m ready to start next week🤞🏾🤞🏾🙏🏽
I was disappointed to find they they don’t hire retired people but from the stories I’ve heard I think they did me a favor. Things worked out well so far…
There's only 2 or 3 that you can do that. If you ask the executives they say yes, but in reality not really. Most locations the badge won't open the gate so you gotta have someone let you in. They usually give you the stink eye.
I went to CDL School at USTDS Right there in the SWIFT Phoenix Terminal in 2001. The First set of Buildings you went to at Swift WAS the School and the Dorms associated with it. The Parking lot right outside was our Practice paddock for basic skills and backing. The Jake Brake is STILL there....but back then it was an actual Cafe with a grill and cooks making food to order. And yes...the OLD Swift was real shitty about "Drivers" being in the "offices" area. And Dispatch? WAS a HUGE room full of call center robots...with a walk up window for the drivers to handle biz through...HAPPY to see the Changes!!!! Now I'm just waiting on my Birthcertificates...and I can start it ALL OVER AGAIN with Knight...THIS time around I think it will be a MUCH better experience...
Knight Transportation started a company called Iron Maintenance to focus on owner operator tractor trailer repairs. This new company cost the Swift/Knight team over 1 million dollars per month in lost revenue. So much of that at the cost of loosing great employees that were in charge of the maintenance departments of Swift and Knight.
These guys make this company look so good smile yes nothing is wrong with the company itself but the people running it don’t really give a shit about the drivers that are actually the company without the drivers there is not company. One thing I don’t like is they make everything sound good but it’s not actually like that. Every terminal is different this is just the headquarter. The most important thing is what the drivers going home with on their pay checks at the end of the day. Also copping with the verbal treatment from DMs. Those guys work in the office they don’t know what drivers going through Tom a daily basis it’s easy to say nice things.
This is a Knight yard. Knight and Swift are the same company, but they're run as two separate companies still. In fact, Knight runs a bunch of companies. Mostly the companies they've purchased the run independently. Some they pur have for the property and equipment and they integrate it into their operations.
I'm sure muthatrucker had many more questions but the knights cherry picked certain ones, not the ones that really matter, like how drivers are treated. I've been here since 2011 and NEVER heard swift admit to any problems or faults. Also swift isn't worth buying stock in. I'd like to be a fly on the wall at a swift/knight meeting
I quit that company a couple of months ago. I can tell you the truth about that company. It’s a great company to work with but it has some major flaws too
I worked for knight just under 3 years started in 2019 and i had an awesome experience with them. Obviously there will be some minor issues but they were always resolved in a timely manner for me.
I have my opinions, number one just pay the drivers what they're worth. I don't think the average driver cares about a basketball court or bowling. We want to be paid, there's money to be made at mega carriers I know drivers who make bank at knight and swift but even they know they can do better on paying drivers. All we want to see is that improve, no more two hours for free waiting to get unloaded, also pay lay overs that's all we want.
I left Swift in 2009…never looked back. It’s 2023 and I’m going to orientation as an experienced driver 5/30/23 😎 Big improvements since 2008 for sure.
It’s been so far 4 months into Knight Transportation and what I can say that is that I learn so much and grew so fast with knowledge and to see where I am now it’s a whole blessing. I love when things are improving at this company and I see that they are working on that much more, and that brings a smile and knowing other drivers happy as well.
This has to be the most amazing video I came across hat off to Murtha trucking for clearing the air about knights and swift transportation I think this helps me decide what company I wanna grow with... also absolutely thanks to swift and knights transportation for making drivers feel like part of the family
I had an accident (not my fault) on i95 in Virginia. The wrecker couldn't get to me for a day, so to save money on hotel ($89), knight told me to call my mom to get me from that town even though my car was on the terminal in Carlisle. That was the last otr job i had. Those folks are heartless. Don't know how they sleep at night
Been at Knight going on 4 years and as long as they are willing to have me I will be there. Could care less how other companies treat their drivers Knight has treated me good!
It’s a great company to work for only issue I had was trucks wasn’t enough trucks for the Phoenix port side couple of time where they struggled to get me a replacement loss money, but the team was good, driver manager to operation manager was great the shop in Phoenix was on top of everything
Hoping to start working for ya'll next week.
