55:00 Pflax broke me with that "is this a butterfly" meme reference, just perfectly describing the state of "AI"

I was in Bristol the same time Pyrion was there (flew in for The Longest Johns gig). I actually saw him at the pub and he was talking to us but I was too shy to actually say hi and out myself as a Triforce fan. Really regret that.

Pyrion's breakfast review sounds like what Americans think British cuisine is.

when people say it's "not a good time to have kids" they mean for them, personally. They're not talking historically. Ie: financially, for them, it's not a smart idea at the moment.

Yeah I noticed he deployed the "I don't know enough about that to comfortably offer a view" card multiple times. I get the impression he read a comment/email that complained a about him having ill informed opinions and now he's using that line to get back at them. I mean I'm not saying I like ill informed hottakes, but the Triforce (and indeed the other Yogs podcasts like Zero Degrees) would be pretty boring without them 😂😂

A truly amazing episode. The series feels honestly timeless in a way and I love it.

I haven't laughed as hard as I did in recent Triforce episodes as I did at the part about the Amazon Fresh AI - Sips giggling in the background as well made it top tier content.
Also surprised to learn that Pflax was suppose to attend the France thing. Sad to know that we potentially missed the amount of malding that would take place over the course of 13 hours

I don't know if I'd agree that this is the best time to raise kids, medically sure, but in a lot of western countire swhat future will the kids have? In the past you dealt with surviving, but atleast in surviving you still had down time, time to be creative and explore nature. Now you work till you die, retirement ages are being pushed back, in a lot of places where there are job oppurtunituies it takes 10-15+ years to just afford the 20% downpayment let alone paying off the mortgage before you retire (if you can retire). In the 60s - early 2000s you could afford a future and a retiurement, its not the same right now for a lot of western young families.

A bit late to the party here, but Flax's description of "Amazon Fresh" stores near the end of the podcast is actually the "Amazon Go" store(s). Personally, if it was truly automated, the tech would be _incredible_ and would be great for corner shops.
"Amazon Fresh" stores are literally just a normal grocery store - complete with normal checkout with normal employees. They have "self-checkout" built-in to the carts which can streamline some things since you can just scan shit as you pick it up while shopping (using your Amazon account). Generally the shopping experience was similar to Safeway (US chain) or for you guys in the UK, a Tesco (not that I've been to a Tesco to compare).

I tried a can of Heinz beans just because the can is so iconic by now. It was not good, to put it mildly. Probably the cheapest "tomato" sauce I've ever had.

Pyrion's correct. Social behavior (I'm not talking criminal, just general human decency) bottomed out after lockdown. Half of us long term customer facing workers have just given up. Why would I want to deal with a public that constantly feels they can get their way through being hideously aggresive? Get fu&%ed I just want to live on a small island in the Pacific at this point.

  • @xX5jobojim5Xx

Pyrion is right about post covid restaurant working. The companies realized they can get most of the same work done with less employees, making fewer do the job that in the past, many were able to do together.

Pyrions going on about how it’s the best time to have kids despite ignoring the fact that his kids will most likely live with him well into their 30s and 40s because the “poor boomers” have destroyed all younger generations chance of property ownership
