Honestly there's a much better version of the Backrooms called the Poolhouse, there are no monsters, just this big laminate structure that has holes, rails and water arranged in nonsense ways. It's far more eerie.
Vinny: chat, stop saying "holy shit it's Vinny!" whenever a guy with facial hair shows up
Vinny, whenever a guy with no facial hair shows up: *HOLY SHIT IT'S JERMA!*
OK but he does look like Jerma doe
Look Tomar, its you.
Vinny should definitely play the full Who's Lila game
Need this
big agree
His experience playing with Mario's face in SM64 should give him an advantage.
I've watched a few streamers take it on. I wouldn't recommend it. The game gets pretty obtuse, requires save file editing, ARG-like stuff out of game, and a companion app to progress at points. Waaaay over Vinny's patience level and he'd hate the story anyhow.
Who's Ligma?
Everyone talking about that Lila game but man is that fish parasite musical segment a pleasant surprise
Art. It's called art.
that's because Lila becomes WAY more than what Vinny saw in this video. But yes, the parasite musical was fucking amazing!@!!!
lol he's got some good moves and singing
@@treefingers1183 that's straight up the only actual fucked up part of the entire stream.
the snail/slug part with the parasites writhing inside of its eyes is probably an image I’ll remember up until the day I die.
For anyone curious, the singing bug in How Fish is Made is a parasite that lives by eating a fish's tongue and replacing it, stealing some of the food the fish eats, the fish is unaware of it.
Yes the song is about parasites in edible food... you're welcome :|
As a lover of both parasites and isopods seeing that little musical number was a (un)pleasant surprise
@@parasyythe as someone who hates both 🤢
This is why i only eat plastic
@@crunchytoast4993 Same bro Microplastics are the best diet!
Isopods!
I really liked the "Who's Lila?" game.
It's like if someone took the concept of messing with Mario's face from the title screen of Mario 64 and slapped Norman Bates into it.
My girlfriend showed it to me and I was very invested in the story. The visuals & the core concept of it are so unique, it's stuck with me months later. i'm happy to see Vinny play it.
Perfect description
the fact that the backrooms game had no monsters made the exploration all the more interesting, quite the pleasant surprise. And the fact that it "had no monsters" made this 59:26 way creepier, chat was going bananas at that weird fella
Only thing that game dose that pisses me off is it gets updates but the fucken guy never says why or what like he removed levels and the flashlight for no reson
Thank god you made a comment about this ‘cause I would not have noticed that.
I found kinda funny the fact that Vinny complains about all backroom games devolving into "oo scary monster" but when he gets a game that does the opposite, he gets bored/doesn't have patience for it
@@Obotto_Woof_ i think the issue is just the existence of backrooms games in general, as Vinny said at the start of the segment. It works as a concept, as a copypasta, but not as some interactive game because you're either stuck with a map full of nothing or a stock unity asset monster.
@@Obotto_Woof_ Did he not get all the way through it? It seemed like his main issue is backrooms games that have no variety. Once the game stopped being just piss-yellow walls he seemed way more interested.
Who's Lila? Is an amazing, trippy and fascinating game. And the way the gameplay meshes with the plot and it's themes so perfectly is remarkable.
Even just from the demo endings it's got some interesting connections
Jerma is very photogenic in that thumbnail
I think the creepiest aspect of that Backrooms game and the famous found footage short film is the eerie sounds of people/creatures in the “distance”
You’d think it’d make you feel less alone, but it makes you feel more desperate.
how the f*ck would hearing a monster make you feel less alone? B*tch do you feel less alone if you were surrounded by ants?
nah the kane pixels videos just suck
49:46 There's a youtuber named Any Austin who has a series called "Weird and Unremarkable Places in (video game)." In it he discusses this type of stuff, just weird locations in games that you normally never think about, and when standing in them they invoke this weird feeling of.... weird. It's hard to explain. I guess some can be described as "liminal" but it's not totally the same. Check it out if you're interested, it's one of my favorite recent UA-cam game series.
His videos are so good. I found him through his unemployment videos which I feel like Vinny would also love, almost certainly at least the Majora one
@@jamesbryan558 Those are also really good. Super bizarre topics that are more interesting than you'd think they'd be
It’s crazy to see someone else reference him, even with eggbusters he never got super big so it’s cool to see small parts of the community in other places
Oh shit I remember that guy. Love that stuff.
Minor Scares in the backrooms games that you could've missed, with bold times being major in terms of the lack of scares the game has to offer:
50:07 - statue casts a misinterpretable silhouette,
51:09 - abrupt building dead end, loud wind and mysterious beeping,
*56:21** - **56:22** - blink and you'll miss it. Focus on the white wall at the end of the hallway and you're in for a nasty surprise,*
57:34 - sudden radio static,
*57:54** - elevator knocks,*
*59:27** - no description, chat reacts,*
1:00:39 - lights turn on,
1:01:15 - radio + Vinny compliments game,
1:01:37 - blink and you'll miss it, red light in the top left corner moves across the white wall,
1:03:55 - game end cutscene.
If you have spotted any more, feel free to comment.
i'm not sure about the 56:21 one, I tried to focus but I still didn't see anythin'. Could ya help a homie out? :v
And thanks a ton for the list, super rad.
@@NunOfDoloresDei theres a small black almost head shaped shadow that creeps around the hallway corner
I was expecting some spooky hand to grab the elevator door and pry it open as it was about to close
59:27 had something pop out at the end of the hallway
that fish game is like those weird dreams you have when you take a long nap at 5pm
probably my favorite one on this list
This was a great collection, was not expecting the fish game to be so unsettling. Also happy that Vinny finally tried Who's Lila, glad he found some enjoyment.
Grabbing my teddy bear and turning on my night light so I can watch this without spraying pee all over my room
As vinny would say: Thanks chat member
I had to reread that several times because I kept reading "room" as "mom"
@@AwkwardTurtle_ i laughed so hard at this it triggered my asthma
@@AwkwardTurtle_ Freudian slip
@@Lumber_jocks True, I was considering pissing on various people in my vicinity but I guess I'm not going to now
sometimes your day isn't complete without an isopod shaking its ass at you
Based twerking isopod
Man I freaking love Vinny playing spooky games every October, and I’m really glad he enjoys it too. The weather is getting shittier so I’m gonna eat some soup and get comfy with some spooksauce
I should not have eaten soup.
@@RacheltheRad holy fuck same
Gotta say the whole backrooms/liminal thing brings me back to the last few years the nearest Zeller's department store was open.. the store was 80,000 sq. ft. and just had this weird vibe. Hardly any shoppers, next to no staff to be seen, dead quiet.. bad water damage on the ceiling tiles, large weird looking circular vents sticking out of the ceiling, and fuckin creepy 'black dome' CCTV cams all over. Just a real weird place to be.
Store opened 1973 and closed in 2013.
A similar thing is happening to a Burlington Factory near me. They've been slowly downsizing over the past few years and the back half of the store is completely empty except for a few racks that aren't being used. It's really weird to be in this giant room with nothing in it, especially because the ceiling is like 30 feet above you with those florescent lights.
@scribble sona this particular Zeller's was the 'anchor' store for the mall it was attached to.. after it shut it was split into three smaller stores. Thankfully the mall itself is still going strong, but it's the only real mall in the tricounty area so that's likely the only reason it's surviving. Many businesses have come and gone but it's still a popular spot for folks to go to, impressive in this day and age, especially for a nearly 50-year-old mall.
But it was a 70s store with 80s tech stuck in the late 90s/early 2000s, I miss it really
I'm not sure what to make of the fish game. I fully expected it to give us some sort of environmental message but in the end it was more weird than cautionary tale.
Who's Lila? is fascinating to me. As a person with autism I struggle to read facial expressions correctly. The game reminds me a lot of the tests I had to do when I got my autism diagnosis. That's quite the unique and interesting gameplay concept.
I'd even go as far as to say that the face manipulation mechanic could be used as a learning tool for people with autism when used outside of a horror game setting.
That being said, I'd love to see Vinny play the full game sometime.
considering facial expressions were a key part in development, someone didn't watch Thomas & Friends enough
on monsters and the Backrooms, I like the idea that entities exist in the backrooms, but not simply monsters, just as something that lives there or ended up there like we would
who’s lila is incredible, i hope he plays the rest of it.
the artstyle for the who's lila reminds me a lot of return of the obra dinn; lucas pope's second game after papers please. a 3D game rendered with 1 bit graphics and lots of dithering to infer color values. looks amazing. we need more 3D 1/2 bit games
although in obra dinn, much of the screen is comparably much more visible than who's lila because the visual element is crucial to the gameplay, but i think it kinda works in who's lila's favor cuz it looks more unnerving
Who's Lilia definitely requires more interpretation on the player's part but after a few minutes of playing it's easier to parse
I watched Who's Lila part this morning and immediately went and bought it, It's such a fucking amazing game it would be a shame if Vinny didn't stream it. I know he's his own person and makes his own decisions but I've never felt such an urge to go full BUNT PLEEEEEEEEEEEAS U MUUUUUUUUST as today
did not expect you to voice all the fish in how fish is made! really good job, it added a lot!
10:07
Let's face it, you're here to watch the tongue parasite dance again
Legit I got excited to see this game because I remembered seeing Markiplier play it and was immediately just "oh shit it's the dancing parasite game"
vinny talking about how aware we are about our flesh. i'm always aware of my horrid being. i want to tear my flesh, the inner meat is so beautiful. it beholds an inner lust within me.
@@rr53213rr for why can i not feel the warmth of skin? must i be so lone? i've forgotten sensations of all sorts
Makes sense you're an In Utero fan
@@vinesauce I would've never expected you to actually comment on this, what the hell man
From the moment I understood the weakness of my flesh, it disgusted me. I craved the strength and certainty of steel. I aspired to the purity of the blessed machine.
@Let's find out ???
I love The Complex, there are like a million liminal space games, but there's something about it that is so beautiful
good lighting/shadows is at least one part of it, most liminal space games don't go so far for realism
@@vacuumboots only because they get so focused on the survival aspect of the rooms and floors so they cut their losses on the visuals. I think what makes The Complex so good compared to the other backrooms games is that it doesn't extrapolate how living in the backrooms would be, and focuses on what made it good int the first place. The liminality. Minimal mechanics, no AI and total focus on atmosphere is definitely what drives this game.
Exactly. I've always loved the liminal aesthetic, even before there really was a name for it. Like, human-looking places without people, that exist for no purpose and make no sense. I kinda wish i could have explored that kind of thing and done something with it before the whole liminal space thing blew up.
This is why I'm excited for Anemoiapolis
@@No1TypeC Oh yeah, I forgot about that one. Looks great as well
i am so excited he's playing whos lila, one of my favourite horror games so far.
Right?! I just wish he played the full thing and not just the demo.
@Viewer ive seen all lisas, such a good game. its stuck with me ever since and its rare that games do that, its dark, gritty and amazing.
@Viewer I don't think they're very similar though
@Viewer if you're talking to me I've played all the lisa games they're fantastic even if they're depressing as shit. I gotta say though I have zero clue how "who's lila?" Reminds you/relates to lisa the painful at all lol.
the backrooms are going to be the 2020's version of slenderman
I really hope Hollywood doesn't make a movie.
@@chadschmaltz9790 I completely forgot they made a slenderman movie
@@joshshrum2764 it is slender.
@@goldsteed8832 You sure?
Kane pixels is making a movie on it.
they already were and the videos were so shitty.
How Fish Is Made was disturbing and interesting at the same time but more disturbing were the faces in Who's Lila? Lol. 😂 My favorite of the night though was definitely The Floor Is Breathing, loved the unsettling vibe it brought, almost delving into madness. Thanks Vin these were definitely some good Spoop games!
That was one hell of a musical number, I didn't think the guy had it in him.
That quick Chuck impression was pretty good.
About the trypophobia warning, the scenes to skip are 14:02-16:50, with a much lesser warning for 19:20-20:03. The scene at 19:20 didn't really affect me, but everyone's different so I put it on there, anyway. But definitely avoid 14:02-16:50. You're not missing anything anyway, he just walks down a hallway with very uncomfortable imagery in it.
I took my glasses off and watched it, just to make sure nothing important was skipped. Just listen to the audio for that section, if you're really curious.
All I want for Christmas is Vinny doing a cover of that Parasite Song. He was almost getting into it near the end.🤞
it was great to see Vinny playing How Fish is Made! it's such an unsettling little game, but the campiness helps.
You are here for the Vineblind at 59:24
That fish parasite song will stick with me for a while for sure, quite something indeed
51:25 nice cube reference
Why is the thumbnail an unedited photo of Jerma985
This isn't sociopathy, this is the flat affect, where a person simply doesn't make facial expressions naturally, and has to emulate those expressions. Sociopathy is a lack of emotions, which runs deeper than the flat effect.
you should definetly check on the full release of "who's Lila" Vinny, the game only gets more and more mind blowing as it goes
Who’s Lila is great. Looking forward to see what else the dev makes
found who’s lila a few months ago i enjoyed it sm its so cool
Funnily enough, my favorite game of the bunch was the first game with the fish and existential dread, not the most scary but I loved the dialogue and concept
It's a shame how of the internet turned the Backrooms from a genuinely intereting concept to just meme material by adding dumb shit and monsters to it. Glad this game understood what makes it interesting and the loneliness and detachment it's meant to evoke.
the spicy fried chicken lore is riveting
Ok but the Crab Rave one WAS funny.
The SCP treatment really killed it for me. If I wanted SCP stuff I'd go read SCP stuff. Then it got worse, people added "rooms" that are just outdoors, fuck off, that's not a room. I was fine when it was one monster, but it got out of hand with all the levels and crap.
Slenderman moment… although the slenderman was always cringe
it's the fear of the unknown that makes GREAT horror.
The fear of feeling like your being watched, when in reality theres nothing watching you.
Feeling like theres "evil" in the air at night.
That kinda shit is the ultimate horror because your mind starts to wander and when it does theres no hope
How Fish is Made is genuinely rad, I'm surprised it didn't generate more buzz in the youtube sphere
17:46 I like that the colours of UP and DOWN are swapped here.
I love the tongue parasite's little musical number with random footage of parasitic infections and meat flashing in the background so much.
That fish game... Amazing, this is why I love Vinesauce.
I wanna hear an actual sung version of that parasite song. I bet it's catchy.
36:43 Well thank you for highlighting this game. Just started playing it and it is freaking weeeeird
59:27 do not want
RIP to everyone who was watching while eating at 10:07
The Complex is more of a game that's supposed to be played alone; dead of night in a dark room, nobody else nearby
Also the VHS filter is mostly done so it looks more realistic
Plus the exploration is fun, and being able to enjoy something, and look at it. As it's not something you should quickly run through
I'll never forget the fish game.
how fish is made is 100% david lynch
That game that he played earlier in the year where you fall into a liminal pool room is called Anemoiapolis for anyone curious
actually the thingy's song about meat and pain and fish was fucking awesome and poetic
man the fish game was amazing
Who’s Lila reminds me of the old Macintosh games I played as a kid. I loved it.
I appreciate that the complex sticks to the original back rooms feel, where something should be happening but isn’t. I struggle to call this a game but more of an experience, and I prefer it this way. The back rooms was meant to feel empty, not get filled with random silly monsters
Sociopath Ralphthemoviemaker is actually going to haunt me
Lmao when i first watched tomato play this game I remember going is.... is that Ralphthemoviemaker? Lmao
i was watching the stream with my partner and they said the same thing more or less. vindication
Ahhh I'm so happy Vinny played The Complex! I know I had no influence but I'll pretend my recent mention of it affected his decision!
I'm so glad you played the demo of Who's Lila, it's a cracking game that definitely deserves more recognition!
How Fish Is Made is absolute genius.
My dad died on 01/17/2007 and I did not expect to see that date in a video game.
Who's Lila? is absolutely superb, I definitely recommend playing the full game.
I love the fish game, that song is weirdly catchy considering the subject matter
I've just started watching but I'm happy Vinny actually played a game I suggested (How Fish Is Made) though it is a popular enough game that I'm sure more people suggested it to him
Guess I'll know if it was my suggestion if Vinny ever plays Wuppo (babby game)
I swear to god I was chilling in a laundry room and around 1:17:00 the automatic lights in here shut off so the place went dark. felt primal fear
Lmao that bug looking thing in the first game has some good moves
Thank you Deadrem, that meta comment about the backrooms is amazing.
The floor is breathing's last section reminded me of 21 the world
1:15:05 yaaay a painting by francis bacon i love his work it’s so rarely acknowledged!
Them “Who’s Lila?” faces were killing me! 🤣
I paused just after starting the video, and ended up hearing "Sp-"
you know what immediately comes to mind with that. YOU KNOW.
50:17 Srsly need a backroom game where you can throw soup at stuff.
FULL PLAYTHROUGH OF WHO'S LILA PLEASE
You love when viny says hes not going to play much of a game only 4 minutes then beats the whole game
“Cymothoa exigua, or the tongue-eating louse, is a parasitic isopod of the family Cymothoidae. It enters fish through the gills. The female attaches to the tongue, while the male attaches to the gill arches beneath and behind the female. Females are 8-29 mm long and 4-14 mm wide.”
Metal.
Who’s Lila? just kept making me think of the Thalasin video the whole time and I’m surprised Vinny never made a reference to feeling Humber or Dorcelessness.

"I went through the butthole, so it's fine!"
- Bincent Pizza Man, 2022.
oh no the poor fish
Who’s Lila? sort of reminded me of that game “Critters for Sale” Vin played a while back. That game is also finished now, so I hope he revisits it sometime!
Don’t eat when watching Who’s Lila, I almost choked
tongue eating louse is my deepest fear
hearing vin talk about his local mall is so quaint, as somehow from minneapolis who worked at the MOA for five years
Ah yes, the Highway to Hell, Stairway to Heaven, and my favorite, the Escalator to Nowhere (MI)
you know a walking simulator is well made when the game ends right about when the player starts wrapping up their playthrough
If anyone is curious for some reason about that parasite 'bug' in the fish game, you might be interested in 'Cymothoa exigua', a tiny parasitic isopod. its kind of cute but also kind of fucked up creature
"cute????" i find isopods interesting and its tiny dot eyes have some charm....if you somehow ignore it being living in a fish's tongue. still
>Starts playing "Who's Lila?"
>Immediately makes connections to Jerma
Gotta say I agree with his stance on the backrooms. I like it in concept, but it really would be hard to do properly in a video game. Since I like the loneliness of it, with unsubstantiated paranoia, weird rooms and places, and maybe very very rarely that paranoia turns out to be correct and there is something. Which to me makes it all the more scary when something does happen.
I'm a fan of the UA-cam series as its own isolated concept, but I don't believe it should be the backrooms official.
I can't believe Vinny played Jerma Simulator on stream.
That first game was chat's just deserts.
Vinny going on a mall rant made him miss the scares in the Backrooms game lol
10:06 actual fever dream
coincidentally im eating a fish dinner while watching this
with the complex I kept thinking "this is very kane pixels" until I realised its pretty much a recreation
Much better pack than the first one.
