YES! I have a Bible about the size you are holding, about 10”x12“ and 4” deep. Leather cover and gilded pages - I think that’s what you call it. It’s beautiful and in great condition. Dr Lori I had no idea it did damage that far away but then again I had no power for days and towers were down so I lost using my cell phone. Couldn’t go on line so I was missing all the news for almost 2 weeks. By the time I could get back on line and had power the hurricane was old news so to speak accept for local news that was still covering damages. I was trapped in my neighborhood due to flood waters from a lake. It had rained 20 inches of rain in less than 24 hours. We also lost use of the 3 Mile bridge from 10 barges that broke loose from the bridge and they rammed into the new bridge being built and eventually the barges were blown up to the shore lines and on land.
The news had been telling us that the storm was not coming here so everyone went to sleep only to find out the storm took a hard right turn right before land fall and headed for us as a direct hit at a cat 2. I had layed awake until 2 am listening to the winds and suddenly jumped up when it sounded like the windows were going to blow out and then the power went off. I realized that the hurricane must have shifted in opposite direction which is rare -and headed for my safe room where I keep my collectibles! Ha ha Still in boxes from just moving 2 months prior to new house.
Well I had my new privacy fence completed yesterday and patio rebuilt. Everything is good now Dr Lori. Just in time for Thanksgiving Dr Lori and no family but you on line so I’ll be watching. Hope you didn’t loose to many trees. See you soon -tootles! :) and don’t forget we are waiting story about Kermit!

Wonderful information Dr laurie, enjoyable and educational. One question, when I find an old 19th century textbook (school reader, math, writing, etc.) and it has several pages where there is original student writing, does that affect the grade greatly or actually enhance it in some way? Usually easy to spot because they wrote much nicer cursive and got their knuckles cracked if they didn't.
In general, it's not good for value if it's written in by someone.

That's not easy. You need to take the frame apart. Sorry to hear that happened.
I found a good one at goodwill and at garage/estate sale. You never know where are you might find it.

I have a Dennis the Menace book, good condition, first edition. Very little damage on cover, and, spine. I; also; have a small Bible from the 1800's. OK condition. front page that has the date information is gone.

Hi Dr. Lori! Question, for the White House cookbook, if the person were to get it rebound, would it be worth the $200-$250 making the appraised value go up significantly from $90?
If the restoration is done well, it can increase it's value. You don't know until you see the restoration.
@@DrLoriV I’m only asking because in the video, the first book you said if it was done it would only have a minimal increase. Then next was the White House cookbook, you only said it would cost about $250 but didn’t say if it would have much of a value increase so just was wondering if the same would apply or because being the type of book it is that it would increase dramatically. Sorry for the questions just trying to learn when it would be worth having a book rebound other than for the “grandmas favorite” books.
The two books were in different stages of disrepair so that's why conservation/rebinding would have a different impact on their individual value. Thanks for the good question.

Appraisal is great but with all do respect are these selling on eBay? I only see sold prices for 39 to 60 dollars on many of these high appraised book.
You can get bargains on eBay. My values are based on knowing the entire market.

People use my online appraisal reports to help them sell pieces. The reports include a location where a similar piece sold and for how much. Reports can be requested on my website.

You bash book dealers and put unrealistic values on most if not all the books you appraise. You give people false hopes and incorrect information. Your expertise lacks any credibility.
My values are based on what people really pay. Actual sales. Believe what you want.
