I think it was at some point between your Sandie Shaw reference and your piece to camera sitting on the bench in ... Walberswick? (did you make up that name?). I was startled awake by some kids screaming on a beach. On the second run through I couldn't recall which was the last bit I'd watched until you mentioned Sandie. There's always something there to remind me. "Flat bloke brat floke." Nope.
I recommend wearing mufti even on your road bike. For sure you’ll be less of a target. And you’ll be more comfy. Unless, of course, you’re looking to save that extra 1/10th of a second in Lycra after your 2nd flat white? 😜
I’ve just watched your “Upgrading Brompton handlebar grips and saddle” video and noticed that you’ve upgraded from those upgraded grips, I’m considering replacing the standard grips with Ergon GP3s, or a cheaper variety, and I’m guessing there are no difficulties in the switch over as there’s been no video covering the activity. I love playing ‘Spot The Difference’. I wonder if you might start adding more of this kind of thing to your videos, maybe little continuity anomalies such as finishing a ride wearing different gloves to those worn earlier, you know the sort of thing. I’m sure in one of the very early videos you were wearing odd shoes but this probably wasn’t intentional. Cheers 👍🏼
See, I said I'd get around to watching this video, and I did! As I used to say to my ex wife - If I say I'm going to do something, I will do it, it's no good nagging me every six months, I haven't forgotten... Cycling snobs don't like Planet X/On One bikes for some reason, likening the company to DFS, or not liking their usage of old brand names, but some of their bikes are very good indeed, and good value compared to the usual well known brand names. The Holdsworth being a prime example it would appear, as a couple of owners I know are really pleased with them. I don't own any lycra, 'cos I'm a scruffy herbert, but it has been proven that traffic passes closer to lycra clad roadies than to riders in every day clothing, and also women. So we scruffbags are a bit safer on the roads than the lycra types. There's a book called Traffic that goes into the psychologies/instincts at work on the roads, quite an eye opener it is too. Nice part of the world you visited here, and, at least when I was there, largely unspoiled by ugly modern guff all over the place. Good video!
I've been wondering why you bought the Brompton when you don't have a commute and you have all of those other beautiful bikes which are much better suited to riding around the countryside. It makes sense to pack the Brompton up in the Campervangolo and then ride it around all the places you visit.
You really do appreciate a good looking bike Julian, hence your admiring comments about that guy's Holdsworth. But how can you, in all seriousness and in the same televisual feast, claim a Brompton is photogenic??
