- I thought i would share a new addition to my garden. Being that I am gardening in such a small space and we have had a issue with LOTS of wasps in the summer. I mix sugar and water together (like a hummingbird solution). you could always add some beer or anything thing that you want that attracts these little guys just be sure to also add some liquid to drown them.
I have noticed that this trap has been catching LOTS of flies. and i am happy about that as for some reason this year i have been over run with them.. maybe it is because of the dry conditions and they swarm where i am watering..

Putting vinegar around where the wasps enter, drives bees away while still allowing wasps to enter.
I've heard a little vinegar deters bees so that's a must. We need our honey bees
it's amazing that they always choose the same areas.
Larger / beer, they love it. (I think when I bought mine 2 million wasps ago the instructions recommended beer).Taking mine on holiday camping next week. A bonus is that you get to drink two thirds of the can of beer. Don't recall bees being interested.

Use meat like tuna juice mixed with water to attract wasps. Sugar water will attract bees and we need those!

I love that jar, do you have a link? I'd like to see people add a little vinegar or meat products to that also in order to reduce its appeal to honey bees. As shown, I'm concerned that honey bees will equally be attracted and trapped. Thank you for sharing and I wish you the best!
Hey thanks! This year the mosquitos have not been bad... but in the future i will take this idea and try it out... it will be great to try during an evening backyard party :)
we had a problem with wasps around our camper , this would be handy..
some wasps are good that's for sure.

This can attract Honey Bees with the sugar water. Don't use Sugar Water. We need our Honey Bees. Use Beer!

good idea , honeybees are special they do good work , however wasps will continually sting you unlike honeybees , enough of wasp stings can be fatal .
A natural way to get rid of wasps is a mixture of water , dish soap and pure peppermint oil. Just a drop or two of peppermint oil and half water half soap in a spray bottle. Check Wranglerstar here on UA-cam.

I had bought one yrs ago and it never came with the stopper, maybe thats why it didn't work
What do you do when the wasps build a nest inside the thing and feed off the sugar water then use their combined strength to push the cap off?

Why would you want to catch bees?
when we are outside eating or drinking they seem to come in groups... and they can sting... so i don't mind them if they stay in the garden but they always find there way to where we sit

I am looking into buying one of these. I have bald faced hornets and yellow jackets. Did it catch any? They are on my peach tree.

Just got mine. Found some Kirkland's. Trying tonight.
I let it live. I don't now why. I stunned it though . It stung me and I flicked it off it was spinning on the cement for about 1 minute before it got it's bearings and flew away.
I have had good luck with these traps using outdated Beer and Mountain Dew that was left laying around in the house where it wasn't drank.

How does the water not come out of the hole at the bottom when you hang it?
