Terribly sad news. I never met Al, I had had no contact with him.....yet, through his videos I felt I knew him. Life is long, but death is not. RIP Al Petteway, a man who, for me, was a fantastic inspiration.
Eventhough I never met him and didn't know him personally, it feels like having lost a friend. RIP Al - and thank You for all the music you shared in your lifetime. ♥
Its a wonderful feeling to explore his genius and such child-like spontaneity and creativity. I'm blessed for having art in my life, and this documented moment is a living testament that the art will sail my boat upward and to the safe shores. Blessed Al is immortal through his art and for his choice of sharing with the coming generations. Thank you for sharing 💜🦚
When you take in the joy of this guy’s playing and thinking out loud for the very first time, only to then read the video description. 😢 What a shame. Marvellous teacher.
Your humility is so refreshing. To come so raw to a tune, publicly displaying it for those like me that have been inspired by you over many years is amazing. Thank you.
it’s a big loss to those of us who have hung out with Al. He was a sweet guy, with a tremendous sense of humor, and of course he was unbelievably talented. We have hours of lessons and music to help us remember what we’ve lost, but it hurts.
Al's playing is right in the league of Emmanuel and Dykes and all the elite fingerstyle guitarist but he seemed much more humble and willing to share his knowledge than any of them. I've enjoyed and learned a lot from his playing for many years. I don't remember being as saddened by the death of someone I never met.
Hi Al if you find a key for a song you want to do, how important to you that your vocal range is a good marriage for what you want to play. I do get annoyed when people are drawn to and minorise it and the songs beauty loses its integrity to the original. However, what you displayed was how the original can go from plus to minus just as you demonstrated
You are a treasure Al, and will be missed in the guitar community to say the least. ❤
This video makes me smile and feel grateful to have been alive the same time as Al.
Have mercy. Simple truly is the best. RIP Al Petteway. Thank you Acoustic Guitar Magazine for this masterclass.
An inspiration. R.I.P Al.
You will be remembered as long as acoustic guitar lasts. RIP
