      @@askewmastermind1629from what I understand, he was supposed to go to void fields which is basically an extra stage of loot. Then he died corrupting his bands which loss him a lot of damage.

    Imo, I think they probably made more revives for multiplayer. It sucks having to die and just watch your bud for 20-30 minutes. Heck, my friends and I will actively throw a run if one of us accidentally dies too early, just for the sake of having fun and not taking it seriously.
    Idk why they don't make it an artifact that resolves this issue instead. That way it's optional to opt in rather than adding more items that revive.

      I’d love for them to implement something similar to RORR, where you can still pick up items as a drone, just that you cant use them.
      Edit: if someone that’s still alive has spare drone parts, that would be a really funny synergy.

      Yeah, most of my multiplayer runs fall into to categories: we both manage to play well and beat the game, one of us dies somewhere and needs to be carried by the other one for the rest of the game (or the other person also dies). I think that, as the comment above mentions, something like the drones form rorr would be a big improvment

    I feel like RoR is adding so much accessibility, but only in one direction, refusing to add options for those who want a harder experience and only adding option for those who want easier experience. I don't know what adding harder options would look like, but a difficulty micro adjustment system like Hades would be really really cool. Like a custom eclipse mode.

    Yesterday i had an excruciating cope run that finally blessed me with ignition tank printer and a fire elite aspect on stage 5,Nothing has come close to that relief in my 500 hours of playing this game

    I've been watching your videos for a couple of months and decided to try out eclipse for myself. Now I'm on e7 on commando a lot faster than i thought. It's unironically a lot of fun and i like howyou explain your thought process. It really helps to understand how the game works and what is a good enough decision that can change the course of a run.

    about the revive thing: i think a lot of people see ror2 as an arcade/party game with a roguelike structure, instead of a punishing traditional roguelike. So things like revives making the game easier they dont mind.
    I dont blame them! the game is easy compared to other roguelikes to the point where people use mods to increase difficulty. I enjoy the game as a punishing roguelike by using mods, but i cant lie the game is super easy without purposefully making it hard with mods or challenges. So it makes total sense to me that it attracts a lot of casual players that like things like revives :3

    6:33 as someone who plays multiplayer often I strongly disagree. The game has been exponentially more fun to play in multiplayer due to Seeker, Seed of Life, and Shrine of Shaping.
    Shrine of shaping is detrimental to the stage credits, but people act like Hopoo didn't add more stuff that was way worse (wood shrines, tc280's, etc). It really makes it feel like the shrine of shaping criticism is just looking for stuff to criticize to me.
    (I strongly agree that Seeker's revive working in singleplayer sucks though, I cannot believe gearbox thinks that's a good idea)

      I disagree back lol. The problem with multiplayer deaths is the system itself is inherently flawed, I think throwing in revives everywhere constantly is a bad bandaid solution and affects the rest of the game disproportionately. In Returns it was never an issue because the system itself allowed players to remain engaged and scaling. I also complain about the horrible interactables/stages setup and have for years alongside everyone else and somehow the shrine of shaping is by far the worst interactable that's ever been added in every degree, let me explain.
      Director credits are the main thing I want to touch on and the per average experience of new and old players alike across different playstyles. Director credits definitely are a can of worms and over the years of playing we've found stages/interactables are weighted generally okay, but with certain specific things they're weighted and costed very poorly in relation to the rest of the game creating unbalance on both ends of the spectrum (tc/emergency drones). Most all of the weaker runs that players experience aren't because they got the wrong items or other purchasables (usually runs average out decently well pre sots live update), it's usually because too many other interactables stood in in place of things that scale your character over time or allow your character to combat the scaling.
      If we look at some of the other non scaling per stage shrines and interactables like void stalks, blood shrines, and combat shrines, we can see on a macro scale we're trading in the ability to spawn more items with generally getting items faster, which attempts to combat scaling by keeping the character moving and getting gold. Sometimes the weights on these can overpower item generation and make the run more difficult, but generally they keep the player moving and scaling. Shrines of the woods and shrines of shaping are the only interactables I can think of that are focused on very short term, temporary bonuses in the place of long term effects. So the cost for these interactables is almost incurred up front the second they spawn, whether or not you buy them. Woods shrines cost 15 credits, same as chests. Shaping shrines are 50, same as a legendary chest/void seed (tied for highest cost in game), or more than 3 standard chests for reference. The 'cost' of a shaping shrine also proportionally is more when considered it can spawn on earlier stages with lower credit pools, taking up to ~1/5 of a stages total loot amount on its own. Currently in game shaping shrine stands alone when you consider both opportunity cost and short term effectiveness with no long term scaling benefit. In addition it also slaps you with a secondary hp debuff.

      @ I agree that shrine of shaping is always very bad to get in singleplayer, and even multiplayer most of the time. I think it should probably be taken out of the early stage pools. However I don’t think it’s a bad thing that shrine of shaping sucks. People complain about power creep to no end, but when there’s something to counterbalance the power creep (bad shrines, tough elite types) people complain to no end and call it bad design too. Sometimes to me it feels like people want to have their cake and eat it too.
      As for what you said about the revives being a bandaid fix I agree, but it’s certainly better than what we had before, so I also stand by my original point. It would be great if we had a system change like the drones in Rorr, but if we can’t have that, then seed of life and seeker are a huge improvement to multiplayer considering what it was pre SOTS. I personally couldn’t imagine going back and playing multiplayer without SOTS, it’s so much more fun now.

      In multiplayer the game is brutal with how the system is yes, but id rather tell gearbox about that then say eh fuck it good enough, especially when people who don't play multiplayer have categorically less enjoyable runs on average. id argue mods do plenty a better job of patching it up. but just because the experience is an inch better does not mean i want to stop advocating for a mile. And just because shrine of shaping slightly pulls back one aspect of power creep again does not mean it is worth having in the game because in my opinion its still bad design. This is the same effect, we shouldn't start just settling with something because it's very slightly pulling us in the direction we want to be in. dont settle for bandaids, look at what you desire and build upon it. what are the good things about shrine of shaping? how can we better utilize that experience towards a better solution? gearbox is listening, be vocal

    Being dead in MP is the most annoying shit sometimes. No one likes sitting there, watching friends play, AND be on an item shorthand causing them to die over and over. When you can revive catching up isnt hard.

    23:08 I'd say it's because you can break the Ball of Lunar Spikes they send to oblirate you, the point of is to be punishment for not paying attention to them that you can react to.
    The team failed in going over the other spectrum of not punishing enough, so their main function similar to Mending of being a target to prioritize before damaging others just more agreesively to you falls apart.
    It needs to be a duration based thing as spite can't be simply stopped by mere attacks, I can see allowing you to push it back by hitting it, espically with an on hit effect However those effects should slowly be less the effective the more time it's spent chasing you as it gets closer to ending.
    Here's the change:
    Twisted: Twisted Lunar Ball realised can no longer be shattered upon hit, It and on hit effects will knock it back, knockback is based on Total Damage.(The Lunar ball will have Rubberbanding when it goes far enough, it's where it's Projectile Speed is increased heavily to reach back to a certain distance, usually for engangement purposes, I'd say Past 50M though I maybe incorrect on how far that is)
    Twisted attacks apply the Lunar Ruin debuff from False Son and grant them a stack of(I can't believe the wiki didn't have the base value to atleast update the Elite descriptions or let people know the information is outdated)Spite.(I'm assuming the maximum stacks to activate the Lunar ball is 10)

    I agree there are too many revives. I play a lot of multiplayer with friends and even when the Shrine of Soul is called out, I am still blissfully unaware of the fact that I can go make a silly play, die, and be just fine. And I say blissfully as if I'm not in the trenches murdering elder lemurians and gupps on some random planet I just so happened to visit. Dio's Best Friend felt rewarding because you knew in the back of your head that if you did happen to die due to being one shot or some other method that reminds you you're still a simple mortal being, you'd be coming back a little more careful. I like Goorakh's idea of adding an item that allows you to disregard revival methods in favor of more character stats because I'm feeling too spoiled with how many methods have been added.

    My personal dislike for pests is mostly down to their stats. they are fast, tanky and high damage, with small hitboxes. the low credits cost adds to that a little. i understand there'more counterplay to them than wisps because you can dodge, but wisp dmg also only tickles and they usually die in 1-2 shots from any survivor

    Ngl I've been doing my entire E-8 Arti climb with only flamethrower, and I love it. Sure, it takes away your "get out of jail free" card, but I actually really like the damage it can do, plus it has insane synergy with plimp and plute that really hits the spot. Well, that and stacking ignition tanks is very satisfying.
    Also although Seed of Life is another revive, the fact that it cuts off your equipment slot, which can be insanely powerful depending on what you find, makes it feel balanced to me (even if it is just a coping item, which I don't take anyways). I do agree shrine of shaping is cringe, though.

      @quasar792 honestly I just play her like I would captain: my favorite no- mobility survivor. I never really played Arti before the climb, so I wasn't already used to having that "safe" button and played accordingly.
      The way I usually use it is to shoot all my M1 charges, followed by an M2, then during those cooldowns I weave in flame thrower, and repeat for pretty huge DPS.
      That being said, I use all 4 default abilities on her as well, so I've got good AOE and stun from M2, plus more fire go brrr.
      I guess just try thinking of her as a different character when using the different R's? Idk, but getting ignition tanks with flame thrower is very satisfying, and I think I mentioned it also allows her to use proc items really well for more build variety.

    Is there actually a mod to just disable shrine of shapings? It feels genuinely awful to only get 6 items on a stage because I got unlucky and a shrine of shaping decided to spawn and steal all of my credits for that stage.

    Actually I'm sure they did. There's a new way to revive in the game, but the payoff is that you may come back to life completely screwed.
    Puts into perspective why some people complain about Seed of Life but not Pluripotent Larva. Seed of Life has no downsides and some upsides compared to Dio's Best Friend, it's just broken

    I feel like there should be a way to share items between players in multiplayer. Instead of cramming in revives, allow more macro between players and give them a chance to recouperate if they died on a previous stage.

    Unless there is more ways in vanilla I can think of, I don't see anything wrong with the new editions of how to get revived? (Admittedly I don't like the void version of dio) but with the amount of items in the game as is, I am 90% sure that someone isn't always going to get a revive item out of the two in the game.

    I hate plarva. Cause in most runs there is no reasonable way to justify not taking it. Obviously being revived even if you're weaker is stronger than just immediately dying so its only ever not worth taking of you already have a dios. But it just feels so bad

    While rng is never really a reason to a boame a loss for a feel like rng with how credits are allocated on some stages along with new stuff added in the dlc just makes some runs feel like such a slog, getting three/four items per stage can just really suck and I hate that it forces me to have to go newt altar but alas, not every character can always reach it, eh but on the other hand the bad runs makes the good runs feel all the better. Truly mixed feelings.

    11:48 honestly I'd argue the Transmitter rework was complete dogshit and people only like it because of how much it saves your life, like seriously what is the actual use case for teleporting enemies away and bleeding them it even actively makes characters like Loader and Merc *worse* because 9 times out of 10 they need to get close to deal damage

      I think in the case of a lot of enemies, of meleeing you and you dying, it makes sense, especially considering youre at very low hp, a time where you wouldnt want to really send it. its not the best thing in the world but its fine
