I have a 2019 ruckus and i left the key in and lights on and killed my battery so I purchased a new aftermarket battery and it turns on the scooter but it wont turn over . Advanced tested the new battery and said it should work fine. Think its a problem with the ruckus ??
I have a new battery I keep on a trickle charger. First start is always strong from the button. Drive for a while stop bike won't start with button. Needs kick start. Thoughts?
Are you testing the voltage?? If you ever see a voltage below 12 volts.. the battery is done. You need to GET a new one and start over again. It could definitely be your stator or ECU/rectifier.. but you won't be able to diagnose those with a bad battery.
I bought a ruckus but its mostly a toy for me and i never go over 10mph just ride it in circles around the house. Today it didnt wanna start and i had issues turning it on last weekend. Im gonna try recharging the battery sometime this week and see if that solves the problem. I noticed that everytime i pressed the on button the engine would turn over less and less as if the power was going down. I suspect its the battery. Its a bummer that the battery won't get charged if ur not going over 20mph.
I believe it was the battery. My son uses it the most and his rides are typically short. Great explanation. I tested the battery and it was only registering about 12.4 V. I bought a replacement battery that is registering 12.7 and has been reconnected to the Ruckus. Still won’t turn over. It tried a little when I first connected the new battery but that seems to drain all the life. Now nothing. Thoughts?
great info...helped me understand my starting issue. Still not solved - looking like a new stator is needed...but helped me understand why it made the battery go bad. My daughter rides it, and almost never goes over 20 mph. Got a battery tender for it now to hopefully save $ on future dead batteries.
I got a lithium battery after having some issues. BEST upgrade for about $90. Plus it has a higher CCA than wet cell battery and holds a charge longer if you don't ride everyday
Lithium is great, I have one as well. While the CCA may be higher it can’t sustain them as long as a lead acid battery. The WH or AH are typically lower. Only matters if you have something drawing power out of it while it’s not charging.
I short ride 5-7 minutes 1-2 mile with mine like that so much 99%... I ran a quick connect 2 wire connector and have a charger I hook it up too. Good battery lasted a year did 3 in 4 years, now I’m 6 years in with little charging weekly now. I cut a notch in the cover next to the battery and zip tires the wire plug to the size of the front rack below the right blinker.
Use this info on all motorcycles( except electric) and lawnmowers. I have quick connects on my harley and lawnmower too they all get plugged in and the tender checks and charges them. Double checked with meter and it's only a .1 v discrepancy
I thought it was the battery, went & purchased a brand new battery, brand-spanking-new, still my Ruckus will Not start. I am going to check fuses, if that is not the case, replace the stator next. PS, it was a blown fuse after all.
Okay so I am having a problem with my Honda Ruckus starting automatically it will kick-start what automatically won't work don't understand why I checked bought a brand new battery thought maybe it would be that went to look and see if it happens daughter mechanism which it does not that I can see I try to look at rolling wrench the owner Matt makes a lot of videos but the only video he doesn't have on the stock Honda Ruckus Auto start which is with the button I press the brake levellers I even bought switches that are in between the levellers I thought it might have been that and that wasn't the problem so I am really not understanding it starts up and runs when I kick spot it again I'm saying it one more time so everybody will understand it will not spot with the button can somebody please explain to me is there some other mechanism that I'm overseeing I check the relays I check the fuses it doesn't have nothing to do with any of that when I press the brake and click the button the button goes click click I can hear it but I don't hear it turn over help help help somebody make a video or explain it please if not I am going to have to call 911 LOL just making a joke out of it everybody be safe always thank you
But it's a brand new lithium battery that i got 5 years ago and never used! This can't be right. Lithium batteries are expensive because they never die, right?
Dude.... dont say 99.9 percent of the time. And change the tie to ruckus battery talk. Your video is a waste of time. People are having trouble withe their bikes and your video is wasting people's time with talking battery 101.

Mine was doing the same thing. The battery just wasn’t holding a charge properly. Replaced it, problem solved.

Good thing it has a Kickstarter. I’ve personally had success with a lithium battery on my Ruckus, has a 3 year warranty on it too and is way lighter.

Great Video about the battery and how it charges properly.
Still not sure what to check..the ECU?! Point taken!
ReelsnWheels 🤣

So the ruckus doesn’t have a starter it’s just the stator?
My battery is fine hit when the key turns on the lights done come on and all it so the the fuel pumo
Would a battery at below 12v make you have no lights brake, headlight, nostart?

And you were dead on mate. Battery. I realy appreciate you took the time to explain the alternator and stator stuff. Good stuff this!
Do you reset the ECM after you replace the Battery?
Nope. 😎

Correction. The old battery was only registering about 12.2 V
The stator is the stationary part of a rotary system
It’s a bunch of copper wires behind the radiator too.
Even with a dead battery I use to be able to start my ruck from the Kickstarter and now nothing.
Me too. I had no battery and was just kick starting my bike now nothing

Bro i cant tell you how much you just helped me out. I was trippin thinkin my battery was screwed sitting at 13.17v. Much relieved.
Good info. Thanks!
Thank you so much! So helpful! Really appreciate the information. Information sharing is cool!
STATOR, is not a short name fore starter/alternator... LOL....
IKR

What voltage is the battery?
But it's a brand new lithium battery that i got 5 years ago and never used! This can't be right. Lithium batteries are expensive because they never die, right?
🤣 yup
🤣👊🏻

No kidding....sheesh...
The real waste of time was him showing himself walking to the garage.
Maybe it's a bad Voltage Regulator?
