Hey, this video is excellent - short and to the point - big fan! I am a US expat living in Germany and have found it impossible to get a straight answer on how or where I can invest money! After I saw your video I checked up on Trade Republic and Scalable Capital, only to find out that, while awesome and whatnot - I as a US expat may not use them. Did you try Interactive Brokers in Germany? In terms of loading money, buying shares and withdrawing money, is Interactive brokers costly compared to Scalable Capital?
I understand some brokers such as trade republic doesn’t accept application for foreigners with long term visa. Many nationalities are not accepted if you try to put some other citizenship
As Peruvian I wanted to sign up for scalable capital unsuccessfully as my documents are not recognized by the post identify app ... For unknown reasons my residence permit is not recognized
Oh that’s a bummer, indeed some ID types don’t get recognized by different banking providers. But if one doesn’t accept you that doesn’t mean that all will. Keep trying others if you want.
As fellow expats in Düsseldorf, my girlfriend and I are really enjoying your content, thank you! Do you have any opinions, suggestions or comments on Trading 212? Do you know if it is possible to "transfer" ones holdings between brokers? I am definitely intrigued by the DKB option you guys mentioned. thanks again!

I like it that you bring up this topic. I also prefer to invest my money myself rather than give it to companies and hope they can do better. They can't and it's expensive too.
If you make a nice profit from investing, you'll pay the 26.4% tax automatically through the broker, but if you have a low income where you pay less than this tax rate, you'll probably get a refund of some tax, if make a income tax declaration.
What are the transaction fees when I buy a stock? If a buy a stock from Trade republic what all charges/taxes/fees I need to pay apart from what Trade republic charges?
They have their own algorithm to accept or reject applications. So unfortunately, we don't know. These are the requirements listed in their FAQ: What are the requirements to sign up for the Scalable Broker? Our service is aimed at persons resident in Germany, Austria, Italy, Spain and metropolitan France. In addition, the following requirements must be met: You are over 18 years of age. As we point out at the end of the video. Dividends are free of tax up to 801 euros per year per person. After that they get taxed with around 25%. They usually get paid to your bank account that is connected with the broker.
