OMG I just moved to German, like 5 days ago! You guys are my angels. Like in those five days that I have been here in German I have done my Anmeldung, got a bank account, got a sim card and even done my medical insurance! LOve you guys!
There are a few credit services, not only the Schufa. And by the way , I like Yvonnes Eye brow raising every time she thinks," What on earth is my wife talking about again....?"
Hallo and good evening. It's so beautiful to see the changes in both of you by watching old videos and researching the personalities of you both and i find it like that: Jen becoming more German and finding the German culture more joyful and easier than before and Yvonne becoming more flexible like a Guatemalan. BTW love your videos so much that I'm in a middle of a "bing" old vids to new vids since yesterday :)
Thank you for the help really😊 I came to Germany a year ago and when I first came your videos saved me so precise! Now I needed this video again to remember how to do the schaufa again😅
Hi Jen and Yvonne, your channel is really informative and helpful 🙌 Salute to you ladies!!! It would also be great if you can share the information on topics such as owing a pet (cat, or dog), organ donation, blood donation, child adoption rules and regulations, voluntary services for social welfare or social causes in Germany. Thanks for your great work and help. Your channel as well as your website is indeed helpful for me and my friends🙂🙌
@Simple Germany Jenn and Yvonne- I’mJ.E. have been watching your videos while in the USA and now here in the Hamburg area about 6 months. Slow on the take here but learning through trial and error. Came here to learn about the schufa since looking for housing. Thank you for your tips.
The most important thing: you mostly don't need an extra credit card. You get a bankcard from your local bank. In the Euro countries you can pay about anywhere with such a card. Only when you order something outside the Euro countries you might need a credit card.
Haha, I had exactly the same situation with gym when I just came to Germany. This was one of the first shocking experiences as a newcomer ... another shock was about Internet providers)
That could get quite complicated, as the prices for local public transport vary in the individual regions / cities. And also the various annual and monthly tickets (passes) Usually there are student tickets, day tickets, week tickets, monthly tickets, professional tickets (= employer organized) -> the prices change depending on the grouping in the region.
Thank you for the excellent video (and all your other excellent videos!). This is the first time I've seen Schufa explained so clearly in my 3 years here in Germany. Minor feedback: the ">" sign at 11:15 for under 50% should be facing the other way (so "
Of course Jen tells the story so vividly that I felt like I was dating her and already knew about this incident. 😂 BTW you guys are 🔥. I hope one day you’ll become the official “make it in Germany” channel.
Your content is best , described, written and narrated. Just to mention we can see how you both fell in love again n again during the video ( stare each other) . You both don't run for screen time, respect each other and always make video with relative examples. We would love to see you both outdoors for fun videos, also some.other topic are Visa, Food, German culture, history, job market. Etc tc good job Queens.
Also changing bank accounts too often could make the bank's internal AML (Anti Money laundering) alarm go off and they will be wondering as to why...this could make you look very suspicious
I booked my arrival to Germany on Sunday in two weeks before knowing about the Sunday closures in Germany!! And then we have COVID uncertainties at the moment!! So it seems I will have to prebook my temporary accommodation.
Hey Kevin, you should definitely prebook your accommodation, ideally one with which you can do your Anmeldung (see our other comment 😉). Regarding Sundays, the supermarket at the airport is open on Sundays, so are the shops at the Hauptbahnhof (central train station). Regarding Covid, you usually need your proof of vaccination or negative test to enter the country and any accommodation etc. All the best for your travels 🤗

Thank you for the informative content! It helped a lot. I have one question though. When renting an apartment that requires schufa, what is the minimum time that a landlord usually wants to see on the report? I know it may differ from situation to situation, however, generally speaking I find a temporary housing that allows me to do anmeldung, do you think would it be possible to rent an apartment with a schufa that only has a record of a month?
Hey Ekin, I do think it is possible. At the end of the day each landlord will act differently. But if you can proof financial stability and a schufa (regardless of how old it is) you should be able to rent a flat, especially if it is only temporary housing 😊 Good luck!

Hello, ladies! Just one quick question: What would be the reason for a bad score on a newly opened schuffa report? To be more clear, I don't have any financial problems (no undue payments, no multiple bank accounts, nothing), but still my schuffa score is 73%. I'm a resident here in Germany since August, opened an acc at Sparkasse in August too, work on a undetermined contract, etc. It would be much appreciated if you could take me out of the dark. Thank you so much!
Tbh no idea. We would request a free data copy to see what is listed and if some things are wrong dispute them with the Schufa and the company that made the false claims.
Hi. Thanks for your useful information and video. I have a question about the number of bank account that you mentioned in the video. Are the virtual bank accounts like Vivid and Revolut will count by Schufa? I mean the Max number is better not reach 4 , Does the virtual Banks excluded?
Some online banks like N26 to get noted in your Schufa record. Others don't. You can always get a free data copy of your Schufa record to get an insight on which of your bank accounts get shown.
Hey both of you ! Really good job. One question please, can I get or subscribe to the Schufa without having a German bank account or registration there yet? Because I will go yet in a couple of months but I would like to do it in advance
I've never had a credit card in my entire life, and I'm moving to Germany in about 5 months for school, & I would love to know more about how credit cards work in Germany. Things like: should I get a credit card before I leave or after I arrive in Germany? If I pay for things on my credit card and pay it off with my bank account does that raise my credit score? As a student should I get a credit card from the same bank where I had to deposit my money in a locked account until I arrive? As a student do I even really need a credit card if it's not necessary? Ive only ever had debit cards before so I have no idea about how credit cards work in Germany and only recently learned about how they work in the US. Im terrified of them bc it can be easy to go into debt, and since I don't have any debt id like to keep it that way. Thank you both for all that you do! Im learning so much from all of your videos. Thank you!
We will release a video on credit cards in Germany soon 😊 to answer your questions real quick: no you don’t need a Credit Card, meaning you can survive without one, but for example if you would like to rent a car chances are you need one. Credit Cards in Germany work differently than in the US. We have written two guides about it, which hopefully answer more of your questions: www.simplegermany.com/best-free-credit-card-germany/ www.simplegermany.com/best-prepaid-credit-card-germany/
Nope, you need to build a new credit history in Germany simply by paying your bills on time. In Germany you don’t build a Credit score through credit cards.
Thank you for the Video, I have a question : I'm new here in Germany and I couldn't get a Anmeldung until I go the Auslande Behörde for my Aufenthalt but I must as soon as possible sign a contract for a rent. The problem is that I don't have a Meldebescheinigung.
Thanks for the very informative video! I also have a question: will I have Schufa entries if I only have mobile prepaid plan and a 'Neo' bank account ie. Vivid Money? As of writing, Vivid Money declares they do not report anything to Schufa which I am worried that I may not have any entries there. Does Schufa get entries from elsewhere?
You automatically start having a Schufa 'record' when you do the Anmeldung. You don't need to actively built a record, but rather keep it positive. There are lots of other companies that may enquire with the Schufa, such as gyms and internet providers and other service providers that come with a contract.
I have a small question. If i take a car loan in a bank and it runs for 4 years with installments. Will i have a negative impact on schufa score if i pay the whole amount of the loan in an year ?
And I have a question regarding this video. I don't need my Schufa report to show anyone. But I just want to check my score only in online. Is it possible free of cost? or I have to pay the same 29.95€ ? I’m really worried about my schufa score! 🤔 However, Thank you so much for your really really good videos. Within a week I have been watched allmost all of your videos. Thumbs up for all of those informative content ❤️
As we mention in the video and our guide (www.simplegermany.com/how-to-get-schufa/), you can request a free Schufa report. However this one is not as detailed as the paid one, but good enough to get an idea.
Yes, N26 inquires with Schufa. Tomorrow Bank and Vivid don't inquire as a standard rule, but only in specific cases (as far as we know), as they don't hold their own banking license.
Hello. I am using my SEPA bank account from another EU member state. Would it be advisable to open a German bank account to improve my Schufa? or is it enough with paying my electricity and communications bills on time?
Another European bank account works fine in most cases, but we would always try to also get a German bank account when living in Germany. You can find good options in our guide: www.simplegermany.com/best-german-bank-english-speakers/
My wife got an online Schufa from Immoscout, but it shows "keine Vertragsinformationen vor." She has been living and working in Germany for two months and has a bank account and phone contract. We tried to get another one from Postbank, but it is not taking the Residence Permit ID card number for whatever reason. We aren't sure what to do as we have been searching for a new apartment. Has anyone experienced this?
Have you tried ordering it directly from the Schufa? We explain how in our guide: www.simplegermany.com/how-to-get-schufa/#How_to_get_a_SCHUFA_report_in_Germany
Hello. Thanks for the incredible material. I got my Schufa report direct from their website following your instructions. I got the report a couple of days after but mine doesn't have a verification code. I don't why. Anyone had a similar experience?
Thank you for this helpful content. I have a question: Is it problematic to get a Schufa, when you are registered in an owned house from a family in a city. But you live in another city in an apartment where it is just a Zwischenmiete without registering in that city. Because I am just doing like a 6 months preparation course for entering the University as a foreigner. and I didn't really find an official rent in that city so a friend offered me to stay at his apartment(Studentenwohnheim) under a "privater Mietvertrag" while he is gone for a praktikum. would that be Problematic, after I move in to another official apartment? if so, do you have any idea how I can solve this problem. I am saying this because I am going to move out next month or after next month (it depends when I will find a room :*) ) to Duesseldorf to study and I am scared if I get asked about Schufa and this situation gets in the way
So starting a record of the Schufa happens automatically when you register first. It doesn’t matter with what kind of flat you register as long as you are allowed to live there. When you move you can re-register with your new flat (Ummeldung) without a problem. Hope that helps! 😊
When I applied for a loan in Germany, they mentioned that I have an unpaid bill in Germany. But they didn't give me the details. How can I find the details of my unpaid bills?
Quick info: You have to cancel a contract always with a letter or email. Mostly three month in advance but other specifications are possible as writtten on the contract. It is clever to ask the company for some conformation letter.
Not to forget-> please always send the letter by "Einschreiben/Rückschein"/ "registered mail / return receipt" so that you have proof of when the letter was received. By e-mail, always click the button "Empfangsbestätigung"/ "Acknowledgment of receipt"
May I suggest that you make a video to guid a new comer from US with good credit and US credit card with a US passport who wants to move to Germany. Thank you.
First of all, thanks very much for the informative videos. I have got a problem with my schufa score. I got the free report but I could not understand completely why I have a very low schufa score. Who can I reach out to get a better understanding of my schufa status and what caused the low score in the first place? So that I will not repeat the mistakes and can improve my score in the future.
Mmh that is a tricky one and we can’t answer your question 100%. I would try by contacting Schufa directly to get more details. To revoke a bad score it is best to talk directly to the provider who marked it downs (once you know who it is). Hope this helps 😊
I that video you said watch this video how to get through the chicken and egg situation you yourselves got mixed up while explaining and also in this video you said go and that the other video to get through the chicken and egg situation 👏👏👏
The one from Immoscout is just a certificate. The certificate is positive if it says something in the lines of: 'ausschließlich positive Vetragsinformationen'. If you want a report with a score, our guide might be helpful in pointing you in the right direction: www.simplegermany.com/how-to-get-schufa/#How_to_get_a_SCHUFA_report_in_Germany
@@simplegermany Thank you for the clarifications. So I paid 30 euros for nothing? The document says they found no info on me. Will it be any better if I pay again for the full report?
It highly depends on what you need it for. The certificate from Immoscout is perfectly fine for landlords. If you want to know your score, just so you know it, request the free copy, as we describe in the guide.
@@juliette_lummm basicaly if you are looking for a flat, thats what they need to see..Is there something there or not..A paper that you have is as good as it gets..People here do not want to show the score, thats way the score paper is free once a year, and the rent a flat companies want ,what you have...which costs 30 e..If you are clear as you are, no one has a right to ask for your score.. Many companies do not want even to see your schufa, but a person signes a paper , that they allow the company who rents to pull your data, and they see it for them selves..cause some people bring false papers..
Hey Amir, that depends a bit on what service the contract is for and where you sign it. In most cases you have a 14 day period of withdrawal from the contract. Once the contract is binding it depends on the notice period to end the contract, most commonly it is three month. We will do a video on contracts in the coming months 😊
Damn, this is scary! How can you require 3 months notice for a gym? I can cancel my gym in minutes here in India - they need my money, not the other way around.
@@simplegermany I enjoy watching you ladies because you are so upbeat and good energy. Germany seems too controlling and things like contracts for everything and government all in your life is not what I want. I got enough of that in the USA. The German credit folks can ruin your ability to live. Putting money in a bank should have nothing to do with credit after all it benefits the bank they already got your money to invest. Paying to go to the bathroom makes me wonder where do the poor go ? Things like that should be free . It keeps the environment clean because that's a biological function not something you can turn off. Do a video of things that are better in Germany like an incentive of why live there considering the cons of living there. I wish you both well and happiness. 💪😁😎👍
@@Vonkater you know of our sociel system in Germany? No one has to live on the steets and there are much fewer people who choose to do do anyway. Not all public restrooms are charged.
However, Thank you so much for your really really good videos.
Hi! Do virtual banks accounts (n26, Vivid, which are german) count for the Schufa? Thanks for the explanation! It was great!
Yes, N26 inquires with Schufa. Tomorrow Bank and Vivid don't inquire as a standard rule, but only in specific cases (as far as we know), as they don't hold their own banking license.
@@simplegermany thank you!!
@@simplegermany Thank you, your guides are always very useful :)
In how much time, past bad rating will get cleared? Thank you so much
I find myself doing the “smoothly” randomly these days 😂
😀👍🏽
Hello. Thanks for the incredible material. I got my Schufa report direct from their website following your instructions. I got the report a couple of days after but mine doesn't have a verification code. I don't why. Anyone had a similar experience?
Hallo frohe pfingsten die damen!(keine ahnung wie das auf englisch heisst)
Frohe Pfingsten zurück 😊
Is it kind of FICO score?
„ Stuffa “means to drink up, right?
When I applied for a loan in Germany, they mentioned that I have an unpaid bill in Germany. But they didn't give me the details. How can I find the details of my unpaid bills?
Probably with the Schufa: www.schufa.de/schufa-en/. But you should have also received payment requests via postal mail.
Hello , It will be really helpful if you can share Video regrading Cancelation of Any contract. :)
By e-mail, always click the button "Empfangsbestätigung"/ "Acknowledgment of receipt"
are you informed in any way when you move to Germany that a SCHUFA track record is being created and tracks your day to day endeavors ?
Nope… it’s automatic.
@@simplegermany crazy
Am I able to pay for schufa raports for 2 different people with the same card?
Yes, of course!
@@simplegermany Awsome. Thank you for your quick reply! ✌️♥️
Have to pay o2 i just received the letter today could that affect me from getting my apartment because I’m only waiting for my SCHUFA post now
If you have an open bill, you should pay it 😉
May I suggest that you make a video to guid a new comer from US with good credit and US credit card with a US passport who wants to move to Germany. Thank you.
All of our guides apply to you. You need to start a new credit history in Germany 😉
Schufa - credit rating / score
Hi I have downloaded the schufa directly online from immoscout, but I can't find the score anywhere. Do you know where it is located?
@@simplegermany ok thank you :)
Hmmm.. ich habe auf der SCHUFA Seite mal versucht spaßeshalber die kostenlose Auskunft zu beantragen. Ehrlich gesagt, das ist mir nicht gelungen. :-/
Huch warum denn nicht? Bei uns hat es problemlos geklappt 🤔
Hi, is it possible to cancel the contract the day after the contract is signed? or are just allow to send cancel letter in last 3 months of contract?
Hey Amir, that depends a bit on what service the contract is for and where you sign it. In most cases you have a 14 day period of withdrawal from the contract. Once the contract is binding it depends on the notice period to end the contract, most commonly it is three month. We will do a video on contracts in the coming months 😊
hi i need your help to get schufa im a Eu citizen from portugal
You can find a how to guide here: www.simplegermany.com/how-to-get-schufa/
Thanks for replaying me back

Damn, this is scary! How can you require 3 months notice for a gym? I can cancel my gym in minutes here in India - they need my money, not the other way around.
Update: You can't get it online without a German ID
Really? Do you mind sharing your experience? 😊
@@simplegermany Yes. Just tried about 1h ago. Wasn't able to do it. If you would like, I could try again and send you some screenshots... let me know.
On the other hand, a video about how to get a german ID as a foreign is good content
Well you can only get one after you gain German citizenship and then you simply go to the Bürgeramt the same day and apply for one.
So, basically you have to establish good credit history in Germany before you can even put money in the bank and even look for a place to live?
I didn't. 6 months ago got my first job. Started a debit banking account. 3 months later received an invitation for a credit card.
That can happen yes, but it doesn’t have to, like James described. But it’s important to know about it!
Every person has the right to own a bank account but the bank does not allow you to go further into dept. Putting money in or out an accond is still possible. The system is very different to the USA . It is just different than in other places.
Hopefully Yvonne and Jen inform us about that as well
I am so incredibly frustrated doing this!!!!!!!! :(
What do you mean with 'this'?
Hahaha you definitely became German...
'obviously closed on Sunday...' 😁
a la gran ....
They could hardly call it Schufak....could they ?
Man! Germany is so stuck up with it's rigid system!!
This sounds so illegal and so China
So technically it should have been Schufak? 😂😂😂
Thank you so much! I’ve been freaking out about this since I learned about it 😅🥹🥰
