My old school had a FS 450 d as a scoreboard buzzer. They also had them as fire alarms aswell. All of which were either black or grey painted. The building was built in 1972 and fire code where I lived didn’t specify what color fire alarms had to be. They were also set at 30 bpm march time. They couldn’t afford to replace the system and the school had about 100 students until it closed in 2020. The building was demolished in 2022. During demo I went in and grabbed a pull station and a horn. They are my most prized possessions.
I’ve said this many times in my life. I normally don’t like fire alarms, but VERY old ones are a different story! The 4040 & 4030 are my absolute favorite alarms!!
Heh, the fire alarm horn right above that cutout of Snoopy sleeping on his doghouse. I can just see the horn waking up Snoopy in the same manner as his alarm clock in the movie "Snoopy, Come Home". Yeah, those AC electromechanical horns are indeed more deafening than even Wheelock ASes and System Sensor SpectrAlert Advances and Simplex TrueAlerts!
They definitely should have just put a completely new system in and saved the old and rare devices for collectors. As I have said before, old and rare devices that do not meet modern codes should be in collectors’ hands and not in service. This is definitely a really cool system, though.
Surprised they didn’t just combine everything into one system when the 4001 went away. A small to medium sized addressable system could’ve easily taken over and would be better long term.
this system has to have been installed in the 70-80s. id say it's holding up pretty well for its age and is doing better than current. I'm seeing advances get replaced regularly.
@@officialsimplexguythere is 2 panels. A Honeywell W247 panel which controls the AC signals, and trips the DC panel. As for DC, they used to have a Simplex 4001, but now it is replaced with a Firelite MS-2. The new DC panel controls the new DC horns and the smoke detectors, while the AC system is controlled by the old Honeywell horns and the Simplex pulls.
Whole place sounds like one GIANT hockey goal horn🤣

@WalterWhite-pt8xc that's awesome!!! It sucks that all these schools are being demolished 😭

3:26 looks like that a bad idea to put a shelf in front of the pull station since it is blocking it from pulling it in case of emergency.
3:26 code violation
Absolutely beautiful!
That horn at 4:55 sounds awesome, love to see the AC horns again
"And he hits the buzzer beater"
By the looks of those chairs i guess everybody said let them hurry and get out before they have their ears starts hurting lol

There might have been different pull stations on the ac system since there is discoloration on the wall
Simplex 4050s with some 4030s thrown in nice
Lmao that dude at 4:23 All like "wtf was that shit?" 😂
I am laughing at that reaction for like 5 mins now. I didnt notice that before lol😅
@@geoffg8840 I laughed so hard when I saw him look up🤣
@@TheEmmaleighMorticia666 me too. Lol. I keep making him relive it.
Very loud AC Horns!

The one in the intro 0:00 is week 1:03 wheelock 3:46 sounds like a ship horn

Love these horns but I feel bad for the kids.
The fire alarm system just sounds like those basketball clock alarms in gyms lol.

Feel free do donate the 40 grand to accomplish this

if the old system is fine, they don't need to replace it. ADA is just a bunch of bullshit that only applies to newer buildings
This is a old and cool system
Cool system but I'm not gonna lie so I admit that I was kind of wishing that the horns were 4041s and 4051s. XD
Dem b sum loudin’s!
Was the alarm at video time 1:06 not working?

the old system works fine. No need for upgrade

3:28 That looks like a code violation.
This place hurts my brain damage
Idk man I think this system is AC
It's mixed, probably with multiple panels. The horn in the background at 1:03 is definitely DC.
@ idk man I think it’s all 120v AC
