Sad sad day. I grew up as a boy rushing home from my paper route on a Sunday (Before DVR) in time to watch Powerblock TV, Especially Xtreme 4x4.
I learned so much from Jessi. I am a son of a man with zero mechanical ability. I went from my inherited skill (ZERO) to achieving my dream of having my project car featured in a center fold of a national car magazine. What was once a pipe dream became my goal. Built from the shell up, all by myself, but with the confidence and information I had received from my Sunday morning DIY heroes.
It all started in front of an old outdated TV set in my parents basement on Sunday mornings. TNN/Spike TV/Paramount - Chuck Hansen, Joe Elmore, Stacey David, and later Jessi Combs.

Girl was my favorite host when I was a kid.
Jessie was the real deal. There are so many "car girls" who just buy a cool car and then stand by it looking for attention in the car scene but Jessie did it all. I had the benefit of racing with her during a HPDE and she was a cool chick. One of those chicks who was really "one of the guys" in the garage and got her hands dirty before putting the helmet on. She was super humble and actually stopped by our paddock to check out our cars. She actually mentioned how she was impressed with my car (2009 Supercharged Corvette Z06) and we were going on track times and looking at my telemetry data on the laptop. She will be missed in the racing community and is one of those personalities that will never be duplicated or replaced.

Been watching Jessi since I saw her flawless fab work in the 1964 Mercury Cyclone canyon carver she built at WyoTech- and she spiralled upward form there. Amazing fabricator, expert race driver with a laser eye for a track and stolen from us all far too soon. Missing you, Jessi.

I like to think Jessi is a early hero of my daughter cause at 4 years old. she looked at me and then looked outside at my jeep. and smiled as she said "Daddy we need to turn your Jeep into a hotrod."
