    Great video of a great combine ,not for nothing are Claas the best seller in Europe. The US are now seeing what a good combine Claas are.

      Yes, I've been wanting to film a Claas machine for a long time but there's none close to where I live. This is one of only two Claas combines in Louisiana I believe and I had to travel nearly four hours to get to it. Hopefully they'll be more in the future if we could get some dealer support in the area. They seem to be awesome combines, I know the farmer was surely pleased with it.

      Is it 30" row spacing or 40"? I can't tell if that's a 30' corn head or possibly a 40' on wide row corn?

    • @fredclaymorgan
      @fredclaymorgan 9 місяців тому +1

      @@stirv6462 I’m not sure. The majority of row crop farms in NELA are on 38 inch spacing.

      Well I just met them but they really seem to be a great group of people. I plan on going see them again in some different crops.

    • @AerialAg
      @AerialAg  9 місяців тому +1

      @@stirv6462 They have a wide row, which is why they have that Drago header. Claas doesn't make a header with the row spacing they use.. maybe 38" if I remember correctly but I could be wrong.

    • @Cenlafarmtoys
      @Cenlafarmtoys 9 місяців тому +3

      @@AerialAg Definitely 38" spacing. All the crops down my road are on 38" rows looks to be exactly the same spacing like the corn headers they use here and the 8r on duals.

    We run a 16 row on the 8600 you need a bigger head. We are thinking of making it into an 18 row 30in. Just traded for 18 row came back to edit.

    Why is the combine taking in the entire stalk? Usually corn head rolls strip off just the cob and you deal with the residue in the field afterwards. I guess this is a great way to deal with the residue in one pass but not sure if its worth the efficiency loss?

    • @AerialAg
      @AerialAg  9 місяців тому

      The farmer told me that while this variety yields really good, the stalks are extremely brittle. So rather than being pulled down like usual, they were breaking and being pulled into the machine. Apparently this is not unusual for this type of corn.

    • @bubbawubba2307
      @bubbawubba2307 8 місяців тому +1

      Corn in the south will always break off like that if left out in the field a while. Fungicide helps a lot with that. Drought ravaged many parts of Louisiana. Usually you can tell by the residue in how well its yielding.
