  • In this video I was asked by a gym to build a sword display to show swords that were awarded during body building competitions. Not to hard of a task and the results were stunning.

That moment when he fits the sword for the first time. (11:26) Pure joy.

Is this something you do in addition to a “day job” or has this become a day job? I’m retiring next December from the AF and I’m thinking about trying to do it as my day job. I have a few dozen under my belt at this point. They range from simple shadow boxes to large table shadow boxes. Just worried about a steady income stream from it… I’d like to share some of my work with you but noticed that you don’t have an email listed only Facebook. Unfortunately I got of there 10 years ago. Maybe I’ll figure out a different way and get some feedback from a fellow military shadow box maker. Thanks for your videos, they always give me good ideas.

Paul. I do have a day job. I still work for the DoD. I’m actually TAD right now to JAX. I never really thought I was good enough to do this for a living. But if you plan on staying in an area with high military traffic it might be a good source of added income to your retirement. I am nearby Norfolk Navy Base. World’s largest Navy military installation. So I am always being asked to build. But I know what you mean about a steady flow. It varies and I have the ability to pick and chose what I want to build.
