This is for diversification of your portfolio. Invest in both mutual fund SGB. One more thing, There is no tax or SGB gains if you hold till 8 years.

Yes, This is safe investment and you can't expect crazy returns. According to that, this is good returns. On other hand, Tax is zero on SGB gains if you hold for 8 years + 2.5% return every year on your initial capital.

@@ayushbairagi1301 Yes, go for it. But, i won't suggest you to invest entire 12 lakh in SGB. May 20-30% of it would be good to invest in SGB. If you have demat account, try to invest in SGB in demat form. Just in case if you have any emergency in future and if you need that amount, you will option to sell that SGB in secondary market.(note : tax apply on gains if you sell SGB before maturity).

For example: you will get around 42k for every six months if you invest 11Lakhs.
