These videos are by far the best dslrs comparisons/reviews that I've ever seen. Beautifull footage and the calm voice of the man who does know what he's talking about. It's a shame, but content like this is not so easy to find. Keep up th awsome work!
This is such a grand super awesome product review I've ever seen on youtube. Simply blown away by the close up shots and great details and of course the overall quality of the video. Simply amazing. To me, it's like I've been wanting to see some camera review like this. Loved it so much. Thank You so much Majid Syed for bringing clarity to product review. Loving you. Thanks for sharing. Awesome Work. Cheers!
the video footage tests are a bit off.. you mentioned how the canon had more color, but look at the outdoor garden scene. D7100 has much more color, huge noticeable difference.
Yeah... all of them. I'm not going to get in this shit, I hate this stupid Canon vs Nikon idiot fights, so I'm just going to tell you that many other pros doesn't even use Canon or Nikon.
I seen a lot of these videos about the Canon 70d and the comparison between the 70d and the Nikon d7100. I think this was the most informative I've seen Thanks for the great review.
Thank you for a very good comparison with these two great cameras. Your hard work in this production is much appreciated and you've answered a lot of my questions in the process.
BEFORE anybody says xxx is better i recommend you go into a shop and test the two cameras yourself. Get an SD card and and shoot some pictures. Compare pictures and videos. Compare how it fits in your hands, compare the menus. Compare features vs price. Make the decision yourself and do not look at such "reviews" which are obviously biased.
***** Yes you can i live in NYC and work a few blocks away from B&H. i went to play with the cameras there and I got a pretty Brazilian tourist to model for me :)
I am looking to go up to either the 7100 or 70D. Even though I love Canon's this has to be one of the most biased comparison video's I have seen. He list of everything the Canon is good at for the comparison and skips over everything the Nikon is better at. Also if you think the low light stills of the Canon are better, you're nuts, The Nikon is FAR SUPERIOR in low light shots, and this is coming from a Canon guy.
Thanks for the detailed review. It was a real eye-opener. Though, I must say that you seem to be a bit biased when comparing them, favoring Canon. I'd seen this video more than a year ago, and after watching it again after so long, I still have that same impression: that Nikon performed better in many cases, but you said that Canon was better. I kept rewinding and looking and couldn't figure out how you were coming to those conclusions... Really, the only thing I didn't like in the Nikon is the focusing in video mode; the way it bounces around a bit, while Canon goes straight to the correct focus, very smoothly, and stops there without passing it and coming back. But, again, thanks for the video. It shows many important details, which the only other way to know about would be to get our hands on the cameras.
Now that is a big problem isn't it. Having to hack your new camera in order to let it record video at proper framerates. That while everyone knows that the hardware can pull it off. It's not like Canon has no competition in video. The Panasonic GH4 smokes even magic lantern footage.
If your an amateur film maker like myself.. the 70D is good enough for making your short films. I don't work at the moment. Just graduated film studies with a good grade. I just purchased the 70D, its my third DSLR purchase to date and my first break into the mid pro level. My last DSLR was a 650D so it should be a good noticeable upgrade. I used a lot of 7D, 550Ds during studies, get a feel for the controls etc... Then in final year I rented and used the C100, C300 and Sony F55. Could not afford those gorgeous camera models at the moment however I think even in low light, the 70D will do a good job, if your making a film you would usually have some form of lighting setup anyway and if your struggling for light its good to have a low fstop lens. I have a 50mm 1.4 lens and I love it, best lens I've ever bought, I love that little nifty 50! It's a life saving cheap ish lens for £250 and it helps me out in those low light situations and I love the bokeh and depth of field you get with them in both film and photography.
it depends on you and the features you like, personally we needed a flip screen so that is one of the big reasons we went for the Canon. Also the fact that we have other lenses that fit the Canon.
I don't understand how anyone could make the judgment "*insert brand* is garbage" or "*insert brand* is obviously the much better choice." They're both solid cameras with slight differences that'll suit different people. One is obviously better than the other but which one will depend on the person and their needs. For instance, I went with the 70D because my mother's old camera was a canon, and I had canon gear laying around. I also shoot short films and video projects. However, the D7100 does have higher resolution and slightly sharper images and does have it's advantages in other areas. They're very similar cameras and anyone who claims that one is "miles" above the other is blinded by brand attachment or their own superiority complex.
There's a big performance gap between Nikon and Canon for APS-C cameras. Nikon is running away with dynamic range and low light performance while canon is spinning tires with wi-fi and touch screens that don't get you better images.
Thanks for the great video. It's very simple to choose: if you are primarily interested in photos, and rarely record videos, choose the Nikon D7100. If you are someone who records vlogs for UA-cam or something like that, and you occasionally take photos. Choose Canon. But it must be noted that all of Canon's few advantageous features do mean nothing without a silent lens, and it also requires a large memory card due to the huge size of recorded videos. for the wifi missed in Nikon 7100 there is the WU-1a Nikon wifi adapter for less than 20 bucks witch can be used to monitor the selfies on your phone. no need for the articulated viewer that I think turns the D70 looks like more "hobbyist " than professional.7D is far away better than 70D. but both don't much the Nikon D7100 dynamic range. Nikon is the best in my humble opinion.
I was looking for the review on dslr and I strongly believe that this video was the best, I watched the entire review and instantly subscribed you. Please keep up the goodwork. Very informative review, best of all. Would it be possible for you to make a comparison review on Nikon D5300 vs Canon Rebel t5i, llease. Thank you.
I buy Canon EOS on: amzn.to/L7VJXX Since owning the Canon EOS 70d, I have put this camera through hardcore use in a short amount of time. Different events, different weather and have purchased quite a few things for this camera.
Very helpful video, thanks so much. I have the Nikon D90 and will be upgrading shortly and your thorough comparison certainly gave me something to think about.
Very good review & very in depth @4:40 You said that the D7100 has 51 AF points and 70D has 19. What i think needs to said is that 11 of those are cross type, where as the 70d, all 19 AF points are cross type @16:00 The 96 degrees vs 100 degrees. This could also be caused by a slightly different movement speed of panning IMHO the Canon pics and video looked flat and a bit dull compared to the Nikon being a bit more saturated. This to me is just typical of the brands and is fixed to liking in post
It's just the default color rendering. Video is supposed to be flat so you can add color in post. You don't want saturated warm tones in your video. The Nikon has too much color for pre-post. You will have to turn down some settings. Canon sets it as the default. Look if you do action sports shots and want low noise at high ISO with amazing AF and full live video controls than get the Canon. If you are a pure photographer and want the best pics get the Nikon.
Great video, good job. Both cameras are big step from their predecessors. I am Nikon guy and I would still stick to Nikon just because I own Nikon glass but Canon is also amazing camera.
Really great review, been struggling with a decision between the two, as a person who would like to get into video for the future, i know now that I'll be going for the 70D. Thank you!
Had my 70D for a month now. My other body is a 5Dii. The 70D is a very impressive camera - I just wish it had a metal chassis and that dual card slot that Nikon employ.
Great Review! Still undecided which model is best for me but this review is very detailed and explains all functions and features very clearly. I'm wondering if you have heard about the D600 replacement that it's rumored to come out to address the oil issues the D600 has? Anyway, great review, thanks for sharing.
Great job. A few suggestions 1) maybe slow down a little bit; sometimes I had to pause the video to ponder what you just said 2) be careful with the split screen as it maybe difficult to look at two things carefully at the same time 3) some visual aids like pointers or circles will help. But otherwise, a great review with tons of valuable information. Like your almost monotone style too (for video narration). Thank you very much.
If you're showing sample photos, why do you have to inject your own opinion of the photos? Can't the viewer make the decision on which one looks better and more natural? At 8:02, the Canon CLEARLY has more noise, but you say the Nikon has more??
Very nice and unbiased review, good job done, If 70D has some features which are dominant on D7100, like touch screen, better adjustment options during video mode and efficient auto focus, doesn't mean that reviewer is biased. I think all D7100 features are described as well. Both devices are class in their line and picking one of them is one's entirely personal choice based on brand association.
Thank you Majid, well researched and presented. I have at present a Canon 500D and a Canon 600D and am itching to purchase the D5 Mk111, though quite a jump in price. I have however been swung toward the 70D,especially following your presentation.
Nearly flawless comparison. ONLY thing to note is that at 20:24 during the "Canon 70D External Rode Video Mic" the audio clips at the beginning of the test and becomes distorted. I think this is more of a user error than a characteristic of the on board pre amp on the 70D and kind of skews the perception. Does this seem correct? Despite that, I think the D7100 still sounds better. Nice work on this! :)
Very articulated. I like your comparative narration, except I wish you have done some comparison on the autofocus accuracy. Nikon has so many more (cross)focus points and I wonder if Canon will lag behind or does the focus just fine. Thx.
I really like the 70D more compared with the Nikon D7100. I look forward to buying one. This review really helped me decide on which camera to buy. Thanks.
Great review. You kept it straight to the point. No bullshit. I think you covered all the points. Mixed reviews for the noise performance. I guess it depends on the situation. Think im going to go with the 70D and the sigma 18-35 F1.8. What do you think?
Awesome and professional comparison... one thing maybe missed on the comparison which is the different between the 2 sensors using in D7100 (DX), and the D70 (APS-C)... I am so curious to know it... But in general... I can't find a better comparison Video.
I've recently upgraded to the 70D from a T4i. The 70D's live view AF is simply amazing. Sadly some neat little features of the T4i/T5i are absent from the 70D, like the proximity sensor for the lcd screen, and the customizable UI colors. It's a minor thing but I will miss the red on black UI of the T4i for night time shooting.
Very good comparison of the two cameras. Both have their strengths and weaknesses. In terms of which one is "better" depends on what you primary use is; video or photography. From the comparison tests on this video, to me the Canon is better suited for shooting video and Nikon for photography. Personally, I upgraded from an entry level DSLR Nikon D3100 to the D7100, having several Nikon lenses it would be pointless to switch to the Canon 70D and have to purchase a new set of lenses. My primary use is for Photography. For someone to just say "Nikon cameras are crap, or Canon cameras are crap" is unfair since both are great cameras but it all depends on which brand you prefer best.
Great review. I own a Nikon D7100 and I just love this camera, I think the Nikon is better when it comes to photos and just has the edge over the 70D but when it comes to video the Canon wins, but as I don't shot much video the Nikon was the one for me.
bought the 7100 and i did a job last week and im impressed. 24mp and 5000 and 6400 iso pretty good. a little noise but usable for me. colors are good up to 4000 and 5000 iso. black and whites are good at 8000 and 10000iso
I upgraded to the 70D from a 50D choosing to keep the kit lens from the 50D, I wish I saw this video before because now I wonder if I should have bought the 70D kit. I have only had it for about a week.
Hi, very comprehensive review and very nice video to support it. Any reason why nothing was said about the flash ? Which one is the quickest to shot, can he flash follow the 5fps or 7fps. how many lumens do they deliver, how far do they go etc.... great work though and thanks for sharing
Both cameras are great but the robustness of Mg-based Nikon plus 51 AF points are making the difference. I just wanted to hear from someone about the battery life between them. Thank you for the review and for further comments!
13:50 Also the only reason it appears that you have more colour on the Canon is because the Canon tends to over-expose a bit compared to the Nikon, and that's why it looks like you're getting better saturation. Now reference that with 13:28 and you'll see that there is a noticeable difference in low light saturation and detail in the shadows on the left, as compared with the washed out look on the right. Nikon definitely has better colour representation.
I am also buying the 70D with Sigma 18-35 f1.8, Tamron 70-200 f2.8 VC USD and Tamron SP 24-70mm f2.8 VC USD. Will see how the Sigma goes before I decide on any prime lenses.
Hi I am very impressed with your video on Canon EOS 70D vs Nikon D7100 - Full In Depth Comparison, I am about to invest in the Canon EOS 70D so that info was more than helpful. I am very impressed with your studio audio recording as well being an studio engineer myself, you need to know that that quality is awesome. If you can help me in anyway I am going to be buying some gear very soon, monopods; tripods; all the gear that would need to get me rolling because I am going in the video direction and merge it to my studio project. Thanks look forward to hearing from you and keep up the good work my friend. Nigel
Thank you for this comparison, in photo magazines they very rarely take as much effort as you did. Interesting to hear that Canon sensors have improved (sorry, I had the 300D / Rebel - made slightly coloured grey grain - then got a used Nikon D60 - makes real pictures), and I like the idea of using a touch-screen for setting up. You forgot one point:: the Canon still has the 'Canon' lettering on top (or vice-versa for the members of the other religion). Thanks again, such reviews are helpful.
Great Review, i am in a tight budget and im interested in still photos not videos for now, which one should i get? i will be shotting outdoor and night events.
I enjoyed the comparisons as I own a 70D and I know 7100 users. I think his comparison was reasonable and I believe your personal preference will bias you toward what you like. I'm weird. I have the 50D, 70D, Fuji S3 Pro, and the D610 and I love all of them. I also use a Sony point and shoot, a samsung point and shoot and a canon point and shoot. Like the cameras, I'm multi-functional! Liked this.
A good video review - nice not to have fan boys ranting about 'their' brand - I use both Canon & Nikon and would love to give house room for ether (or both) - however with its AF the 70D is a game changer, the D7100 is just a decent solid upgrade (sorry) I'm NOT anti Nikon - it just is....
I'm looking for a new DSLR and it is a real battle between the D7100 and the 70D. The main reasons for a new DSLR are: Videos at low light (festivals), fast focus and changing aparature in livemode. I have always been an Nikon fan, but i have to say... Canon 70D won big time. Thx for you video, made my decision easier!
Hello, what about the Dynamic Range and Color bit? I hear that DR of 7100D is higher than 70D, resulting in better detail in high contrast environment? D7100 also has higher color bit, does it have better color?
The high bit-rate video mode on the 70D gets useful when you want to edit and process your video's. It contains more information so it it'll withstand processing steps better. You could say the difference is somewhat comparable tot the difference between RAW and high quality jpeg for still shots. This is actually one of the few real advantages of the Canon you fail to mention :)
I've had the D7100 for almost a year, and I could not be happier. Some of the things mentioned in this review were not entirely accurate......... For instance 9:52 the Aperture settings ARE changeable in live video mode. If one has the knowledge they would know what is required to do so.
Maj - This is one of the greatest reviews I've come across. Thank you. Though I am still struggling to decide on which to buy - I like the features on the Canon but am previously used to the Nikon. Not sure whether the "brand loyalty" if you can it that is kicking in, but equally I am thinking perhaps the D7100 may encourage me to study photography more without the extra aides that the Canon provides? I read somewhere that the image quality is far superior on the Nikon D7100 but from your tests they seem pretty much on par in that area. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Many thanks.
Am I the only one who thinks that the Nikon has better performance at higher ISOs?? The AF on the Canon is outstanding, the Wifi included a plus and the video features nice, but overall I still think the Nikon is better. Two card slots, slightly larger sensor, more controls and ISO performance.
Great both Cameras. I replaced my old D7000 for the D7100, I am excited! It should arrive this coming Monday the 23rd of Sept. If I didn't have already nikon lenses I would have bought the Canon in a bit but I will have to buy canon lenses. Nikon 7100, Tokina 50-135 F2.8, Sigma 17-50 F2.8 Nikon 70-300 VR and 18-70 plus Nikon SB700 Speed light.
Nice comparision, but should have mentioned the 12bit and 14 bit features of D7100 and also didnt mention about D7100s lack of AA filter. Should also mention about 1.3x crop mode!!
Dude, you're actually making a way better comparisson than other videos I've seen here. Thanks a lot for every single detailed aspect of each camera.
These videos are by far the best dslrs comparisons/reviews that I've ever seen. Beautifull footage and the calm voice of the man who does know what he's talking about. It's a shame, but content like this is not so easy to find. Keep up th awsome work!

I thought the same thing too on a few of those comparisons.
i think its not different in saturation but also white balance
the canon go to blue side while nikon go to the side of hot color
This was one of the best reviews I have seen so far on UA-cam, great job.
+tendarian I agree.
This guy is a Canon fanboy.
***** in YOUR opinion.
I didn't think so at all. Assuming you're talking about the reviewer - he merely reported his findings and nothing more.
Just because one camera outperformed the other (in some fields), it doesn't make the host a "fanboy" of anything.
Yeah... all of them. I'm not going to get in this shit, I hate this stupid Canon vs Nikon idiot fights, so I'm just going to tell you that many other pros doesn't even use Canon or Nikon.
Whatever you say. Fanboy.
Is this guy blind the Canon clearly had more noise at higher ISO...
yeah ikr?
Thank you for exerting the effort to make this useful video. Really liked the coverage you gave to each aspect of the cameras.
I seen a lot of these videos about the Canon 70d and the comparison between the 70d and the Nikon d7100. I think this was the most informative I've seen Thanks for the great review.

i like the saturation on the nikon better but the focus on the canon better... its so complicated because they both have good and bad things!
You can bump the saturation during post-processing but you can't..
The best camera review I have ever seen, you really helped me decide about which camera to buy, I will go for the canon 70d, thank you so much !
I just don't see any reason to pick Canon over Nikon for images.
Man, best comparison out there. Really good job.
Wow 70D film features and that auto focus pulling is amazing, now all we need it Magic Lantern and this camera would be awesome to shoot films with.
Now that is a big problem isn't it.
Having to hack your new camera in order to let it record video at proper framerates.
That while everyone knows that the hardware can pull it off.
It's not like Canon has no competition in video. The Panasonic GH4 smokes even magic lantern footage.
1barnet1 Gh4 doesn't smoke 5D3 raw though
Misho5z Although I had a 5D3 and never used it because it's just impractical and a pain in the ass to use
It even smokes 5d mk3 raw in terms of detail when downscaled to 1080p.
It really is that good. It doesn't like low light as much as the 5d though
If your an amateur film maker like myself.. the 70D is good enough for making your short films. I don't work at the moment. Just graduated film studies with a good grade.

it depends on you and the features you like, personally we needed a flip screen so that is one of the big reasons we went for the Canon. Also the fact that we have other lenses that fit the Canon.
One of the best product reviews I have seen. Thanks so much.
Great video. One of the most fair comparisons of these two cameras I've seen.
Great thorough review, I subscribed, Happy New year 2020😊

thank you for making this video, it helped me a lot in my decision on buying a Canon EOS 70D
Great review! You have dealt on all important points important to know before buying either of the cameras very well. Thanks!
Really great review, been struggling with a decision between the two, as a person who would like to get into video for the future, i know now that I'll be going for the 70D. Thank you!

completely agree with you! you can see without any doubt that still images of Nikon have less noise in high ISO.
You're right, but he's a Canon fan maybe. Give him a break :)
Hes secretly sponsored by canon. Even in the rolling shutter test, he shook the nikon faster.
Excellent review, one of the very best review. Keep it up Majid
EXCEPTIONALLY well done comparison.
Excellent presentation and comparison. I was thinking of going for 70D but now I am biased for 7100. Keep up the wonderful informative presentation!
Great quality video, including sound, with detailed comparison on the cameras.
A very well done video. Nicely formulated and very well narrated too. Makes it very helpful for people choosing their cameras. Kudos to you.
Thanks a lot for this thorough review.
I have chosen the Canon EOS 70D :)
Fantastic, detailed, well-presented video comparison of two comparable devices. You couldn't have do it any better if you tried!
A really good review, professional sounding and thorough. Thank you.
I thoroughly enjoyed your impartial video review. Good job!
you create very high quality videos. Good job dude
Excellent comparison! Well researched and presented. Watching in 1080HD and really appreciating your tack sharp video. Thanks.
Loved this review. Very reasonable conclusions.
+Katie Diamond Amen!!!
Amazingly thorough. Nicely done. Subscribed!
you did such an amazing review thanks for educating me on cameras bro!!
Very articulated. I like your comparative narration, except I wish you have done some comparison on the autofocus accuracy. Nikon has so many more (cross)focus points and I wonder if Canon will lag behind or does the focus just fine. Thx.
Great Video! I would definitely buy the 70D it won in almost all of the test.
What do you think?
wow..the D7100 is ahead when it comes to low light.
whats wrong with him..noise was higher on the 70D.
Excellent video, nicely explained and with beautiful visuals. I learned a lot. Thanks!
The image quality on the D7100 is amazing
Great video!! I love the way you stick to facts and remain unbiased. Great overall reviews.
What a great review/comparison. Please make more dslr videos!
Great review..You convinced me to go with Nikon D7100..
Nikon definitely has better colour representation.
great video review.. i'll get myself a D7100 soon, need to upgrade from my D3000..
I really wanted to see if you can make a comparison between the 2 in terms of portrait, and outdoor picture quality.
I am also buying the 70D with Sigma 18-35 f1.8, Tamron 70-200 f2.8 VC USD and Tamron SP 24-70mm f2.8 VC USD. Will see how the Sigma goes before I decide on any prime lenses.
GREAT JOB! THANK YOU FOR THE COMPARISON
AWESOME REVIEW... how do u edit your videos, what software?
hey.....nice review.....have one question.....which one will be having better image quality in day light ?
Liked this.
Great video, very professional, thanks for doing this
They both are nice, I just like canon a little bit more. I'm trying to buy the Canon 70D with its bundle but that is freaking expensive!Good review!
Daniel Ngo yes
Great Review many thanks friend keeper lit from Ireland!! which one would you go for? im aiming more for the 70D atm?
Cheers MD yeah I think I am going to go for the Canon
