I can't recommend this enough. I've been fumbling with my Nikon 3100D for years. This was by far the best instructional video on photography that I've seen. His teaching style is awesome. His explanations are easy to understand and make sense to beginners. His accent is great. I learned more from this online series than I did at a 4 week "in-person' course at my local college. Well done - and thanks for making it FREE!!
This was by far the most informative, enjoyable and well delivered tutorial on photography that I have ever had the privilege of undertaking. The clear and precise delivery of the material was extremely clear and easy to digest and more importantly, to put in to practice. A fantastic 10 episode course. I need to watch it 2-3 more times it's so chock full of ideas and information. This is truly a no nonsense, point after point, marathon of useful information, well presented. Best to relax, stick with it, definitely pause it now and then because you won't be able to keep up or absorb the flow of data, as it rolls off the lips of a very articulate teacher, Chris Bray. Phew! Going to now enjoy the re-runs.
Hands down the best photography course I've come across so far. We'll presented and easy to understand, I took pages of notes as often on youtube you just watch and watch and never really take it in. Just started venturing to here, utube’, and I am taking up photography as a hobby and this guy absolutely blows my mind. Love that he explains everything so well, clear instructions and makes it so much easier to understand by giving examples all the time. Australian accent makes everything sounds amazing and easiest to listen to.
Hands down the best instructional series I have ever watched on any topic. I can easily say I've learned more in the last 3 days watching your lessons than I have in the last 3 months since I decided to make the plunge into FF Mirrorless photography. Although I was fairly happy with the Automatic mode on my camera, the results I'm able to get shooting in Aperture priority or full manual mode is night and days above anything I had ever hoped to achieve. Your natural "gift" and believe me it's a real "gift" to take complex terms that made me feel dumb and turn them into easily comprehensible terms is phenomenal. You have opened up a brand new world to not only myself but your entire audience into the world of photography. Absolutely stellar material and so greatly appreciated!!

Best lessons for beginners in photography. Very clear, easy to understand, logical, to the point, with just the right amount of illustrations. Above all, explained like a friend who genuinely wants you to learn vs an expert who is just imparting his knowledge (which I am sure you are). With a twinkle in the eye to show your passion as well.

I've been an amateur astronomer for upwards of 30 years and been collecting subs of stars and galaxies for a good bit of that. However, since i put my other Canon 1000D i wondered what i could do with it that i could not easily do with a mobile. This course has nailed it. Even down to the depth of field and the TV/ AV settings. As a trainer as well, i can only compliment you on your obvious passion, knowledge, and delivery. Massive amount learned. The only regret is, i need to go through them again and take notes! Bravo sir and thank you for taking the time to put these together!

I've been taking photos for a little more than 8 years now, so most of the topics covered I knew already; *however*, I gotta say that this felt as a breath of fresh air. You really have a nice way of explaining subjects. I've seen hundreds of videos of photography, and in terms of value for someone who's just starting, I might put these at the very top. These will definitely be my go to recommendation for photography lessons.

Thanks for getting me up and running and out of auto mode. My dad left me all his camera gear before he passed away so learning had a huge sentimental value for me. I found this whole course not only helpful but the pace of it was really thoughtful to the learner. These videos coupled with the Chris Bray app for my iPhone helped me take landscape shots, portraits, actions shots, you name it. And every day presents new opportunity to take different shots. Since then, I have been taking my "gap months" (before I finally go adulting. Haha!) trying to pursue my long lost hobbies ever since I was a kid and of course, one of them is my love for photography. Sure, I did take a lot photos before and I've always wanted to become a real photographer, but I wasn't really able to pursue and take classes for it because of the demands of my formal studies. So, I decided to pursue it now that I have the time, and there you are, online and free! Thanks for getting me up and running and out of auto mode. My dad left me all his camera gear before he passed away so learning had a huge sentimental value for me. I found this whole course not only helpful but the pace of it was really thoughtful to the learner. These videos coupled with the Chris Bray app for my iPhone helped me take landscape shots, portraits, actions shots, you name it. And every day presents new opportunity to take different shots.
I've now upgraded some of my gear, bought some books and I'm starting a camera club next week. Thanks Chris

I cant thank you enough Chris .I've always struggled to get to grips with with my DSLR only ever used it on Auto setting as i just couldn't get my head around the basics of photography but now after watching your videos tutorials which come across brilliantly to a novice like me i now have grasped the basics and given me the confidence to use my DSLR and i'm liking what i getting in return ,I've gone from not really being all that bothered about photography to i'm really liking my photography thanks again

Hi, Sir Chris Bray! :) I am Lyneth from the Philippines. Months ago, I just finished my post-graduate course that I have been studying on for like, countless years! Since then, I have been taking my "gap months" (before I finally go adulting. Haha!) trying to pursue my long lost hobbies ever since I was a kid and of course, one of them is my love for photography. Sure, I did take a lot photos before and I've always wanted to become a real photographer, but I wasn't really able to pursue and take classes for it because of the demands of my formal studies. So, I decided to pursue it now that I have the time, and there you are, online and free! I just bought my first camera today, had a quick google on some tutorials and I'm glad I found this 10 part series. Extremely informative for a beginner, I even stopped halfway through videos to practice different modes/settings outside in the garden! This really is a gold mine of information! I have followed this course through, ordered and got the course notes and enjoyed every step of the way. some great ideas and tips but most importantly at last I feel I have a better understanding of how photos are made, the technicalities of the image and the composition. Bought my first camera last week and I already know more about photography than I ever did. This is an amazing short course Chris! I came here looking to understand the jargon of photography and ended up binging the entire course.
