      People who weren't around 2012 college football and what this kid was doing just can't understand how unbelievable the Manziel era really was. The guy was a living highlight reel, I know his pro career didn't go well and some of it did fall on him but you have to admit he was placed in perhaps the worst situation he could've been in. A coach that clearly didn't want him, he never went more than 2 straight weeks practicing with the 1st team, a team that went from week 3 to week 14 with only 1 rushing TD(and that 1 was by a Qb), out of 16 games in 2015 Cleveland had rushing TDs in only 4 games, they said he was too small but everyone of his receivers were shorter than he was. His last season in Cleveland he started 33% of their games yet was responsible for 66% of their wins(he also broke the franchise QB rushing record in his last game).... and after Cleveland cut Manziel they went 1-31 over the next 2 seasons.
      Yeah, Manziel shot himself in the foot on several occasions but he never really had a chance with that historically horrendous Cleveland team. Damn shame b/c he was a lot of fun to watch.

    What I find amazing is that he was clocked at 4.68 in the 40! Which isn't incredibly fast. (It's good for a QB), but much slower than the average Defensive Back. Yet they couldn't touch him! He had incredible start/stop quickness, great vision, ..and could cut on a dime!

    • @Steve_643
      @Steve_643 2 роки тому +12

      It’s called playing speed and Manziel had it. Too bad he liked to go out and party more than he liked to learn his playbook and train in his off time.

    • @Ridingrules10000
      @Ridingrules10000 2 роки тому +8

      I'm going to call BS on that 40 time. I'm not saying he wasn't clocked at 4.68. I'm saying he's obviously much, much faster than that. There was maybe one or two players on the whole team who were faster than him, and it wasn't the DB's. I think he could run a 4.68 carrying a 50 lb feed sack in street cloths right now.

    Most exciting college football player I've ever seen. He could run, fake you out with his quick steps, shake and bake you, deliver in the pocket, outrun the defense in a sprint up the middle or around the corner, or buy the time necessary for receivers to get wide open by his running around. There has never been a super athletic quarterback who could run and throw like Johnny football. So fun to watch. Can you imagine if he played on Bama's team. They would've won the National Championship 4 years in a row (had he remained in college that long). Best college player we've had in my opinion.

      his game was not translatable to the NFL. To make it work when every player on the field is a pro it requires studying, restraint and playing within the system. He wasn't willing to do that and IDK that he would've been good playing that way. He was an all time collage QB, was never going to be a good NFL QB. Mahommes is the best example we have of a guy who walks that line perfect. he has all the magic backyard ability, but puts the work in and understands how to play within the system first and create when it breaks down.

    He's a top tier, rank one, among the most entertaining to watch, elusive, evasive, versatile, and amazing quarterback at high school, and both college and NFL level. It's very sad, however, the way that someone can fall hard by doings of money, fame, and power. Pray for that poor kid, he's not living a happy life, even with all that money, fame, and once merits.

    What a shame. I mean, I'm not an A&M fan nor do I ever watch college football... but just watching these highlights it's perfectly clear why Cleveland signed him and why he won the Heisman... and it's tragic that he couldn't bring this magic to the NFL for even one or two seasons. In college it was like he was a man playing against boys... but the Pros are a different story. He was a boy playing against men--at least mentally and emotionally. But, hey, I hope he's happy doing whatever he's doing now... that he chose over a killer, multi-billion dollar NFL career. :)

I saw him a few times getting drunk at bars DURING FOOTBALL SEASON. Had he taken football serious in college and not gotten by off natural ability he'd be an overall better player and person.

      +itsNate no that's not what I mean, yea he has to grow up but I mean damn man here in cleveland he will never have a fair shake at things. he's always liked 2nd compared to the other qbs and it bullshit. so if I were him honestly I'd request a damn trade... I think he'd be great with a team like the redskins. or even a backup in Dallas while Romo plays. AT LEAST the young man can learn how to be a damn quarterback there. cuz in cleveland if you don't know how already well it sucks for you.... alot of people are upset about him being benched.. and it's 100% bullshit to put him 3rd string qb. the browns are tanking the season anyways haden is just not playing because he don't want to. bowe just plays when he feels like it. somehow Crowell changed from last year he apperently has no sense of how to run the damn ball. it shows ALOT when they start wanting to trade away your best players like joe Thomas and joe haden.. if you don't want to win then don't win but leave cleveland a Haslam needs to realize this and take kosar up on his offer to run the damn browns.. let kosar do it. give him a shot I mean he is a hometown great let him coach or be gm. and bring in Peyton Manning for the other either coach or gm. and I would LOVE to see Favre as our qbs coach... just do it Haslam !! you got the money now use it !

    • @jamesosborne9666
      @jamesosborne9666 9 років тому +1

      +Joe Hickman Agree, it would be interesting to see what he could do with a better team. I don't know what the Browns rank for offensive line, I spent 20 minutes scouring the Internet and couldn't find anything for team rankings by specialties. I would imagine not so good. He needs some go to receivers that can make big plays. Let's face it, he's good at dodging and impromptu maneuvering. If he had an offense that could work with his skills, like when he played for Texas A&M he could be very formidable.
