But the whole charade about graduation and staying at school to “compete” as opposed to going wherever someone’s willing to pay you now (even if it’s a lesser team) is ridiculous hypocrisy! There’s a reason Saban went from Michigan State-to-LSU-to-Alabama; so he (and you) need to stop the cap and acknowledge these players would be FOOLS to not maximize the opportunities that the current system (that’s still a pimp game) provides.
I still remember a story Coach Saban told from Miss Terry after a recruiting visit with families and recruits. She asked Coach "What are doing this for? The parents only care about how much money and playing time the child will get. They don't care about the college experience, being coached up to be a better human, nothing but the money." I think that's a large reason Coach retired.
I’ve been saying it all season. The game of College Football will become extinct in 3-5 years if they don’t make changes to NIL and the Portal. No other sport has UNLIMITED cash and UNLIMITED movement by the players. This model of college sports cannot be sustained. Because the people who are pumping money into the system will eventually run out of money to support a school where the players stay for one year and leave. These kids transferring all over the place because they are too impatient to develop and wait their turn, are running the game for those coming behind them. I hope they are happy.
End the NIK and portal madness. The NCAA should enact a rule that if you accept NIL you must stay with the team a minimum of 3 years, unless the head coach leaves.
The solution is simple. Power 4 schools set a salary cap every few years. Players can sign contracts out of high school, with the standard being a 3 year contract with a 4th year option depending on their draft stock. If they want a 1 or 2 year contract they can sign one, but it will be significantly less than the 3 year. If they void their contracts and transfer to another power 4 school, they must either sit out a year or play for no pay from the school. They can however transfer to a non power 4 school with no repercussions. Problem solved.
Should be a $250,000 cap on NIL money to a player. Transferring should only be allowed your Junior and Senior Year. A 2 game penalty should get assessed to any player that transfers. If this doesn’t happen college football will be ruined.
College football will end before the NIL ends. The cat is out of the bag. These young athletes will not play if they are not getting paid. They are not stupid. Is it fair, no, but that's life. What's also not fair is a report that an OF content creator just made 45 million to make "content".
If you make a player either have to sit or lose a year of eligibility if they transfer then maybe that helps with the large amount of transfers. I like the players getting paid but the transfer portal is a little wild
Sounds good, but some of the athletes have already beaten the odds and overcame adversity. So to think they won’t continue to fight is just noise. There will outliers, but most of them will stay hungry.
Rich guy with a lot of money upset that kids who are looking to support themselves and their loved ones upset young black men can get money. Insane world we live in
But ruining the game of college football, all for the money, no loyalty to anything, new generation of instant gratification. Real college football is gone and ruined, thanks to the NIL and transfer portal

You have 7 coaches, verses about 1000 players, get a clue! Coaches who do well get rewarded and stay, players who do well, leave to the highest bidder. A coach is one person on a team, now a days 75% of player starters get NIL deals, and a 1/5 or 1/8 of each team transfers every year.

Exactly, NIL was there in ‘21. It’s a culture issue is why Saban retired. Why do you think he had so many 1st RD picks?? Those boys bought into the Bama CULTURE. Now every kid is a one-year rental and there’s no culture a coach can build on because they leave every program including bama. It’s sick. And I’m all for these guys getting PAID. But not in a way that kills rivalries and college passion
Players have been getting paid FOREVER, it just wasn’t as blatant, as costly, or as prevalent as it is today with the NIL! Football teams are obsessed with recruiting the next Patrick Mahomes, which isn’t the way to go. QB’s are the most expensive recruit, the most competitive recruit, and the hardest position to evaluate and hit on correctly! Instead let’s go with a proven winning formula! Jimmy Johnson’s team building with the pre salary Dallas Cowboys is the perfect blueprint for today’s college NIL free for all. First you can’t coach speed, emphasize speed at every position. Speed isn’t just for WR & RB, speedy cornerbacks, linebackers, defensive linemen are game changers! Next, the majority of the defensive pressure NEEDS to be from just the front four. To have sustained pressure means you have to keep guys fresh. So having adequate depth is essential to making this happen. The skill position need to be offensive threats: TE, WR, and RB! Remember Alvin Harper, Michael Irvin, Jay Novacek, Emmitt Smith! It’s WAY easier to focus, build, maintain and grow when you don’t focus on the QB! Troy Aikman numbers aren’t remarkable at all, you can find recruits that can produce like him 1000 times easier than looking for the next Mahomes! Let’s look at his peak 91-96 season averages! Com 18.6 P/G Att 28.57 P/G Com 65.1% 211.6 Yds/G 7.4Yd/Att TDs15 (3.6%) INTs 10.3 (2.5%) 1.45 sacks P/G. Getting a proven and reliable game manager is ALOT easier and cheaper! Allowing you to spend on speed, depth, D-Line, and skill positions. This means that the attention will be focused on skill positions more than the quarterback. This further intensive these recruits because it will showcase their ability and will raise their draft stock higher than if their numbers were partially attributed because of how great their QB was.
It's admirable Arch M is sitting for 2 years to learn. On the flipside, there are politics with players in a sense a coach may keep you and promise you'll start "next year", but may be lying or hiding information.
I agree with Coach Saban that NIL is flawed and needs fixing. But I am glad we have NIL, even if it is flawed. Before NIL, College football was getting boring, with five or so football programs hoarding all the players, including Alabama under Nick Saban. I loved College football this year. Most of the games mattered in the CFP ranking, and the top players were distributed among different teams.
On the flip side, you have coaches that want to turn Warren Moon into a cornerback and refuse them an opportunity so... Every coach ain't a good coach so change can be just what the doctor ordered and the portal provides that opportunity.
Thank you ESPN for providing a platform for little ol’ Alabama. I really hope they can scrape together some couch cushion change and turn things around.
These “problems” with NIL and transfer portal is so easy to fix and make it work better for the student/athlete and the universities… it’s so easy it really makes me wonder about higher education
If guys are getting millions in college, graduation and classes and learning etc is not important. Almost no one going to college will ever make more than a couple million in their entire careers. These players have already made it
Hey, AJ, i bet if Bama were buying up all the best recruits you'd have a totally different opinion!!! This isn't what college football is supposed to be!
But their NOT ! See the HUGE list of Bama players that entered the portal yesterday??? All blue chip players 4 & 5 stars. Advantage GONE ENJOY YOUR BOWL GAME !
Saban is the greatest college football coach whiner of all time!! He cried “unfair” and “dangerous” about Oregon’s fast paced no huddle offense when chip took over as OC! He literally slandered Oregon with absolutely no proof or evidence that backed up his very vocal whining/crying. He tried to get the rules changed so it would be illegal to go fast JUST so he wouldn’t have to adapt or adjust to the evolution of faster offenses and he could continue to reign as the “smash mouth superpower”! It was pathetic, and condemnable!!! He never apologized for his slander, but he did hire pac 12 coaches to be his new OC’s so he could try to mimic Oregon enough to still be a dominant progrum. 👎👎👎👎
And I believe Nil needs a cap nationwide to continue the parady we had this year will get a lot more players ready for the NFL which brings me to another point in say ten years of this system improving sending more draft worthy talent the NFL needs to expand maybe 4 more teams
As a real Alabama fan since 1990 ill admit whole heartly as a real bama fan before and after Saban we truly don't care anymore. Like how much winning do yall think we need ya know. So many people still suffering from Alabama derangement syndrome and missing the points Saban is talking about as anytime these kids run into a issue they can not be paid to run away. I feel sorry for these coaches as you no only need to convince them to join the teams you also need to convince them to stay on the team not to mention the selfish act of "If i don't play i am leaving"
Everybody is making money in college football. The players should too! Nick Sagan earns was payed millions and millions. These young athlete's have the courage to put themselves first.
DOWNS made the punt return because the ball was supposed to be kicked to the right side of the field, so iu players went to the right. The punter ended up kicking the ball to the left side of the field, there fore not having proper coverage to make the tackle.
schools should just offer high school kids their nil deals with terms of years of development/performance based. that would kill the transfer portal hype.
The NCAA needs to get a lock on the transfer portal. That’ll take care of the NIL issue as far as jumping from team to team and quitting..oops sitting out games.
@@ThomasJohnson-qg2vz Baker and the NCAA are limited in what they can do. There is no antitrust exemption, and players will be paid directly by schools as early as next season. A restoration of transfer restrictions now would put the cart before the horse and, ultimately, be invalidated in federal court.

It really makes him look very uneducated and stupid. I like him he is entertaining but just cut out the swearing man
I think the issue is the NCAA has no teeth anymore. I mean the in season tampering, the offering a player who isn’t even in the portal. That shouldn’t be allowed. Also you should have to have some sort of certification to be an agent not just anybody’s mom/dad/ or uncle out for their cut.
The Transfer Portal needs to be reduced. Within a 1 year period; pick which 2 months out of year players can transfer within a 30 day window. I believe that when a recruit commits to a program; the player must stay for minimum 2 years for development. As far as the NIL; NCAA needs to place a cap on how much💵 can be allocated for each player. To go to 1 million💵 to 13-15 million💵 is outrageous! I know I would leave any program if someone laid down heavy 💵 like that. The NCAA scholarship💵 must NOT follow any player who transfers. The NCAA needs to fix this mess quick
This Racist Coach was ok with making millions and players who make that possible are starving !! It's all good as long as the Athletes make nothing !! If you don't like NIL stop accepting millions as a coach & stop selling merch, Stop selling tickets, Equal pay for equal play
He's not wrong but why sit on the bench for 1/2 of the game when you can start somewhere else and get paid. College Football will get diluted on the top end but be much more competitive throughout the entire SEC, Big 10 and elsewhere.

I don’t understand on your clap calls that you can’t have a before clap indicator that gives you a count after the clap . It should be easy to disguise this, be a verbal signal or a visual signal some where b4 the clap,
NIL & any other payments should be based on how many years a player spends at the same university. If you transfer, you're bunped back down to freshman earning Not sure how they manage that with respect to NIL, but that's what lawyers are for.
With a wallet. How do I know? My highschool had several guys get “free” condos they own from Bama….
@marinz4life ok. Pimp
Nil stuff is ugly ,colledge football is going around the toilet going down quickly
SEC fans mad they don’t get the best players everytime anymore😂
So you're telling me you didn't pay players before the nil?
Saban never personally paid players!
No lol
Yall gotta stop saying this. Everybody didn't get paid in those times. You had to be ELITE for them to risk sanctions and probation to pay you.
@@JeffHorne-n5d the university for sure did.
Why do you think he bought all those dealerships? There's a lot of favorite uncles in the South.
Speaking straight facts
Notre Dame doesn’t blow anyone out??? 8 games this year were more than 3 TD margins.
Im sure all of you that dont complain about whats going on dont donate to your favorite schools !!!
Should be a $250,000 cap on NIL money to a player. Transferring should only be allowed your Junior and Senior Year. A 2 game penalty should get assessed to any player that transfers. If this doesn’t happen college football will be ruined.
Coaches should not be paid more than the University President.
And what about the coaches? They jump ship as soon as a better contract cones around.
Join the U.S. Army!
Army, Navy and Air Force receive stipends but I'm sure they earn that.
Lol
Inmates are truly running the asylum. If you dont think NIHell is going to end, & get really ugly when it does, you're a fool.
College football will end before the NIL ends. The cat is out of the bag. These young athletes will not play if they are not getting paid. They are not stupid.
Is it fair, no, but that's life. What's also not fair is a report that an OF content creator just made 45 million to make "content".
Alabama has been paying players for years
The portal and the NIL will destroy the BEST sport in history.
If you make a player either have to sit or lose a year of eligibility if they transfer then maybe that helps with the large amount of transfers. I like the players getting paid but the transfer portal is a little wild
Yeah. They should bring that back. The only players that should be immediately eligible are graduate transfers.
What about the coaches?
But Saban was fine paying under the table and getting all the 5* players, but now that the playing field is leveled, he has issues 😆
You are also retarded
Sounds good, but some of the athletes have already beaten the odds and overcame adversity. So to think they won’t continue to fight is just noise. There will outliers, but most of them will stay hungry.
Rich guy with a lot of money upset that kids who are looking to support themselves and their loved ones upset young black men can get money. Insane world we live in
But ruining the game of college football, all for the money, no loyalty to anything, new generation of instant gratification. Real college football is gone and ruined, thanks to the NIL and transfer portal
@ lol loyalty? This isn’t the United States military. You sound like someone who gives his job a 2 week notice when they would just fire you on the dot. You sound goofy. College sports is more popular than it has ever been and at least interesting. Do I think it’s perfect God no. The transfer portal hurts everyone cause the calendar sucks. NIL should have been a collective bargain not just a FA. But the sports is far from hurt yet. Will it be? Eh maybe but best they try and fix parts of it now before it gets worse
When has he ever said that? You don't even understand the problems that they're talking about, you're too busy crying out against your own delusion.
Yeah but this is the problem with what you said he played college football and baseball and decided to make a living be a professional coach when he graduated so it became his job and he didn't have to go to school anymore these guys still have to go to school make a grade point average passed class and do all that they're still in school they haven't fully made this their lifelong job until they're out of college so what you're saying makes no sense
It was okay for coaches to not be loyal and back up the brinks truck but, when players do it then it’s a problem 💯
I need these Alabama affiliates and fans to stop crying about NIL and the transfer portal.
I hate to break it to you, AJ, but far more affiliates and fans beyond those in Tuscaloosa think NIL and the portal are in a terrible place…
I absolutely refuse to listen to Saban complain about it. Alabama has been doing the same thing they are whining about for YEARS. Now they're mad the shoe is on the other foot. Nothing but cope from some frauds
The transfer portal is insane honestly even just following it as a fan.
Exactly their just mad because they can’t Tie up all the five stars on their bench
@@austinwalters3219i don’t think you listened to this video at all… Saban has no issue with players being paid… I have absolutely no clue what you’re talking about
This the guy that retired after the NIL leveled the playing field. Nick left with Alabamas competitive edge
You think college is leveled????😂😂😂
@ completely, no. More than it was, definitely.
Huh Do ppl realize nil started in 2021??? And Saban just retired last year? So where did the narrative come from that he left soon as NIL started ?
@@Themikelawry because back then, just as he is now, he’s been very outspoken fighting against it , that’s where it came from.
Nobody claimed he retired the very day it started.
@@JayRoberts244 he’s right though. Nil makes the big schools even richer cause they have the donors with the biggest pockets. Now the small schools who don’t just gonna lose their best players

Says the man whose making money off his NIL
Who's... yeah, you got it all in line.
Wut
you're comparing coach vs player status. Btw he never said players shouldn't get paid
You got it. I am amazed by athletes who attend universities who's state law bans funding for diversity.
@ comparing the coach and player is where you went wrong, nil doesn’t discriminate
All you Alabama Haters telling us to be quiet about the N.I.L now. If next season Alabama buys the table and threw $200 million dollars at players all you would be crying and screaming about NIL then 😂 best hope that doesn't happen. Fact is it needs structure.
No one complained when backup QB Bryce Young made 800k at Bama. Now it’s a problem
If yall would still be out of the playoffs
If you had 200 you'd be spending 200. Fact is others have more than you and other sec schools which was fine with sec fans when your 3 car dealerships were enough to buy up every 5* in the country because others were trying to play by the rules. Now that the big dawgs have entered the fray and it's "legal" under "NIL", you want structure...hilarious really.
What a treat to hear Saban now that he isn’t a coach and we have more access to his knowledge.
Most def needs to get ahold of the NIL and the Transfer portal….one transfer limit
Still can’t get over how great Coach Saban & Pat ate together. Their Chemistry is soothing.
I like when Nick Saban says in the Aflack commercial "you gotta be kidding me." That's so applicable to so many things I see today going on.
I want that for a ring tone.
YOU GOTTA BE KIDDING ME. 💪
Tom was 4th string in Michigan

I am all for players getting compensated, but there need to be a different system format in NIL & transfer portal
The truest definition of , "Its okay if I do it."🤣🤣
The man who made millions is crying about the players making money The audacity and hypocrisy
He’s not complaining about the players making money. He just thinks there needs to be more governance in place
@guigly017 He's full of it
@@SportsIconsTV There was literally a player that transferred to one school, stated for 3-4 months, and then transferred back to his school before the season even started. The players should be paid but the current NIL + Portal model makes no sense and is bad for the game
@guigly017 Ask Cam Newton about when he wanted to transfer from Florida And Urban Meyer had all the power
@ I don’t think it’s an issue to give players more agency and revenue for their efforts. But the system rn is a mess and needs to be overhauled. Contracts and more governance on the transfer portal are a necessity
When it comes to development, he’s got only half the story.
Good players are getting stuck in programs where they’ll never get significant time on the field, and time on the field is the only resume for the NFL these boys get.
Plus, many players never go to the NFL, or don’t thrive there.

Ain’t no fun when everyone can do it huh Nicky
The day won't come when "everyone can do it" like he did!
@ that’s a fact. Now all schools can openly spend money on top players. No team will be dominate like Bama once was including bama
@@SunniMerlot "All schools" don't have the deep pockets that Alabama, Ohio State, Texas, Georgia, etc. have. The same schools will still be on top, it will just cost them all more.

Do ppl realize nil started in 2021??? And Saban just retired last year? So where did the narrative come from that he left soon as NIL started ?
As an LSU fan who always hated Bama, Saban is the GOAT!!!
Advantage GONE
ENJOY YOUR BOWL GAME !
@@JeffMadden-c3uthey also gained 4 star players from the portal, doof. 🤦🏾♂️
Coach saban graduated a lot of black men shout out to him
Saban is the greatest college football coach whiner of all time!! 👎👎👎👎
The GOAT is a Myth! When the game changed and got tough, the GOAT ran. Thanks for the championship guidance, GOAT!
Either way I can die one day and be so happy I was apart of the Alabama Dynasty my only prayers are that if dementia gets me I hope my family and nurse loves me enough to tell me it's 2007 and Alabama has just fired they coach and just put the games on for me and let me live in happiness again lol.
Saban endorsed NIL, now this is what we live with, no contracts, no salary caps per team, this is a total disaster.
That is why he is called the Goat. And the NIL is making players have shorter investments in life after football. Truly sad for the players
Nick Saban is the " best of all time " because of coaching, the next " best of all time " will be from working the system.
Boohoo pick the right kids
The dudes reign is what led us to this moment. Had he been part of the solution instead of benefiting of a broken system we might not be here.
I am honestly done with college football. If I am going to watch professional athletes, I'm just going to put my time and energy into the NFL.
The players deserves the NIL deal.
The NCAA needs to get a lock on the transfer portal. That’ll take care of the NIL issue as far as jumping from team to team and quitting..oops sitting out games.
don't hold your. breath, baker does nothing
It’s just like any job, you go where you can get the best opportunity and pay
@@ThomasJohnson-qg2vz Baker and the NCAA are limited in what they can do. There is no antitrust exemption, and players will be paid directly by schools as early as next season. A restoration of transfer restrictions now would put the cart before the horse and, ultimately, be invalidated in federal court.
I am FAR from being a college football expert: But even a stupid old man like me knows that NIL is killing college football. Scholarship + larger/equal stipend or college football ain't nothing.
Can someone explain to me why MaCafee has to swear so much? I have nothing against swearing but on national television? Really? It’s not a good look not only for sports center but for Pat. It really makes him look very uneducated and stupid. I like him he is entertaining but just cut out the swearing man
Sounds like you do have something against it 🤷♂️
Makes me miss the good old days!
The NCAA scholarship💵 must NOT follow
any player who transfers. The
NCAA needs to fix this mess quick
This Racist Coach was ok with making millions and players who make that possible are starving !! It's all good as long as the Athletes make nothing !! If you don't like NIL stop accepting millions as a coach & stop selling merch, Stop selling tickets, Equal pay for equal play
Systems have to evolve hes 9:15 just liked the old way cuz he benefited ….. keep everything the same , you boys stay in line Blah blah blah … GTFOH
If NCAA didn't take advantage of it kids then we wouldn't be in this situation 🤷♂️
The NIL thing is gonna fall apart if they don't regulate it and put a cap on it.
He's not wrong but why sit on the bench for 1/2 of the game when you can start somewhere else and get paid. College Football will get diluted on the top end but be much more competitive throughout the entire SEC, Big 10 and elsewhere.
The reality is college sports has always been and will always be a business just like any job
Yall need to understand people are BROKE
You need to understand that most of these boys are not broke. Just because you are doesn’t mean they are. Most of these athletes nowadays come from suburban homes.
@Iamhimbutyouarenot I'm not broke dummy. The fact that you would insult me for no reason tells me that you are broke and live in a fantasy if you dont that a majority of these kids dont come from some financial strain. You also need anger management treatment and probably church to remove such hatred from your heart that you would insult a total stranger on the internet.
Give pat the key to America
I don’t understand on your clap calls that you can’t have a before clap indicator that gives you a count after the clap . It should be easy to disguise this, be a verbal signal or a visual signal some where b4 the clap,
NIL & any other payments should be based on how many years a player spends at the same university.
If you transfer, you're bunped back down to freshman earning
Not sure how they manage that with respect to NIL, but that's what lawyers are for.
They need to figure out how to deal with transfer portal so it doesn't affect the season.
People get paid nice salaries to figure this ISH out.
The nil divides players as a team especially when money is in involved and some players aren’t on the nil deal at all. That’s gonna make some other guys feel some type of way
