    Just switched to this exact setup on my Nukeproof Scout. 2.5 WT front & rear & so far it's much better than the pair of 2.6 DHF's I had on from stock.

    Thank you for the explanation! That made my decision for a Dual Compound Aggressor as rear tyre, to begin with, a lot easier. Do you know what kind of Maxx-''type'' that Aggressor is?

    I've got this combo coming. Assegai exo+ front and aggressor dd rear. Looking forward to trying them. I'm on a hardtail ebike and it came on Smart Sam's which are rubbish. Got them pretty cheap £35 per tyre. Not got a clue what I'm doing with dh but i know I've got no confidence in the current tyres.
    I'm no spring chicken (135kg ish) so hopefully the dd on the rear should do me well. Obviously got the weight of the bike too.

    Dang what type of terrain do you typically ride? Im loose over hard pack and TBH i hated the assegai upfront it does have soooo much grip but i felt like i was rolling through peanut butter lol. It rolls very slow but i can imagine it being neccessary in wetter conditions. I switched to Dhr 2 up front and Rekon rear and the rolling speed difference is amazing. Thanks for your post!

    • @WildOutdoorLiving
      @WildOutdoorLiving  4 роки тому +1

      I ride it in a pretty good mix but mostly dry. I personally noticed a pretty noticeable rolling speed difference between the Assegai in Maxxgrip vs Maxxterra compounds. Im much happier with the Maxxterra but it helps that I have a dual compound Aggressor in the rear. Our trails get really dry and blown out in the summer so the Assegai gives a lot of confidence. Aggressors front and rear rolled a fair bit faster though.

    • @luisla5269

      got the exact same combo ur runnin but from stock.
      Always getting flat and snakebites with the Rekon and have no Grip on loamy/muddy climbs.
      Got me an used Agressor 2.5 WT DD to also switch to Tubeless and I'll think it will work so much better for just 25 €.

    How did you like running the Aggressor front AND rear?

    • @WildOutdoorLiving
      @WildOutdoorLiving  3 роки тому +1

      Very fast rolling, great for cross country or moderate trail riding, really any trails with good grip. On steeper and looser trails the Aggressor doesn’t offer as much bite as I want in the front.

  • @kevals7
    @kevals7 3 роки тому +1

    Did you consider a dissector as a rear tire? If so, why did you choose aggressor over it?

    • @WildOutdoorLiving
      @WildOutdoorLiving  3 роки тому

      I had bought the Aggressors for another bike before the Dissector was available. I may go to that tire eventually. The Aggressor has less grip in loose terrain but it rolls faster and on some trails it’s nice to have the rear tire a bit looser. Really depends on preference.

    How are you liking the Fuel Ex as your one bike quiver? I watched your video from last year and you were going to sell the Stache and Remedy and just run this one bike. Was just curious how it is going. Thanks!

    • @WildOutdoorLiving
      @WildOutdoorLiving  4 роки тому +1

      Really liking it! It does everything I used to use the Remedy for. It’s better in some areas worse in others but overall a better all rounder for my style. I did end up replacing the Stache with someone else (see latest vid) but for pretty much all of my trail rides the Fuel Ex has been my only ride.

    To all the guys riding that combo: How good is the Aggressor 3C Maxx Terra as a back wheel tire in terms of durability? I am currently riding the DHR2 3C Maxx Terra and I am pretty impressed. Still lots of meat left after 2 seasons.

    Agree with the Assegai DH casing being very hard to put on. I almost cried lol. I got it on like almost to the end then wrestled with it for a really long time and then slept on it. Was able to finish it in the morning but yeah it was an arduous process lol. Good forearm and finger workout for sure haha

    Is it ok to use 2.5 tires with non boost fork?

    • @WildOutdoorLiving
      @WildOutdoorLiving  4 роки тому

      It depends on the fork. Some will fit a 2.5 while others won’t. It’s more important that you still leave enough mud clearance than it is to run a big tire.

    • @WildOutdoorLiving
      @WildOutdoorLiving  3 роки тому

      Well, I’ve never had the pleasure of riding A-line so I wouldn’t be the best resource for that but considering it’s a well groomed track, there’s alot of tire combos that would work great.

    Do you think the same times exo + on both ends is ideal for amateur enduro in the NE where stuff tends to be a there from try and dusty to muddy at any point? Always roots and rocks.

    • @WildOutdoorLiving
      @WildOutdoorLiving  4 роки тому

      It depends on your weight and riding style. For me it would be just fine at 160lbs and a mid pack racer. If you weigh more or ride alot harder (especially if you’ve damaged tires in the past) Id recommend a double down in the rear and EXP+ in the front.

    Thank you for sharing! Can you say how this tires setup differs from stock XR4 combo on the 9.8 fuel ex 2020? I use it mostly ride on dry and loose conditions. Going down steep sections I feel the back is not as grippy as I would like it. I'm around 90 kg so on the heavier side. I don't race and ride for fun. What would you recommend for the rear, exo+ or more because of my weight?

    • @WildOutdoorLiving
      @WildOutdoorLiving  4 роки тому +1

      The XR4 seems to have a bit more braking traction, a bit less cornering grip and it rolls slower than a Maxxis Aggressor. If you haven’t ripped an XR4 Then EXO + should be fine. Double Down rear wouldnt be bad either at your weight. Tread choice varies of course as explained in the video.

    • @WildOutdoorLiving
      @WildOutdoorLiving  4 роки тому +1

      And to add to that the Assegai has much more grip than the XR4. This combo is a very noticeable step up from Stock. The XR4 is very consistent and therefore usable but there are much better tires out there.

    • @TheJofrica
      @TheJofrica 3 роки тому

      I tried that, that setup is excellent for DH, really stabilized my bike. Super heavy though, feels like mud in some places, and climbing is tough. I tried Dissector in the back and it's great. I then tried Dissector in front and back and I'm really loving that, I think that will be my go-to for a while.
      I still have the Assegais and might experiment with Assegai in the back and Dissector up front. For context, my bike came with Rekons and those were spinning out in the rear on climbs, so I was just interested in grip on the rear mostly, so I swapped them out.

      Not sure where you are getting your info. Maxxis USA (on their official website) claims 1444g for DH Casing, 1077g for EXO+ Maxxterra, and 1358 for Double Down Maxxgrip. Maxxgrip EXO+ is 1163g though that’s not a common combination.
      Not really sure what point you are attempting to make though.
