I have a Buck 271 made in '05 in ATS34 and it is difficult to sharpen and doesn't hold an edge for shit. At least it's hardened well.......................in the bottom of my knife box, lol. Good stuff, thanks for sharing.
@@apex_alchemy_knives it was a gift from a former employer, I have no sentimental attatchment to it, but it has my employer's name on the wood scales and my name on the blade......................still interested, lol.
@@apex_alchemy_knives if you're interested in vintage Buck folders, I have a Custom Buck 112 with green wood scales, nickel/silver bolsters, original sheath with blade signed by CJ and Chuck Buck in '05 and in 100% unused condition I'm interested in trading.
@@ScotchNThings 😆😆 I remember Courtney getting it out of the box...I told her..."look, Steve said it was extremely difficult to put together ...so we may have to hire someone to do it" ...she said ..."hire someone my butt...I can do this. " I got home the next day to a completely assembled knife. 🤪🤣🤣🤣
@@apex_alchemy_knives yeah. Uncle Randy has probably put 100,000 pounds of venison on dinner tables :) Something buck really nailed- fairly hard temper on a very tough steel and a thin hollow grind. I don't see anyone trying as hard on that recipe with the Sandvik steels unfortunately. it would be really good
Glad I found you guys in time to catch the daily testing. Kudos to Courtney for assembling the Strider Buck.
@@tombrown4683 tomorrow will be the last daily test for a little while but they will still be coming
Interesting to see 2014 heat treats from Buck on "non-super-steels" matching current-day stuff. Thx B&C ✌️
I'm with you. Kind of refreshing
congrats Courtney- you are braver than I am

Very cool I appreciate the testing you all do regardless of how often you do them guys. Not bad on that guy
@@user-Bladewalker I was impressed with both considering the steel types

Buck 420 is another good bang for the buck (heh heh). Maybe not a 1st choice for breaking boxes but great on fish and game
