I'm not really following your argument... If your HRC tester is calibrated with test blocks certified to +/- 0.5 HRC and it is within tolerance, then the accuracy you report on a blade should be about +/- 0.5 HRC. How much more accurate do you expect to get? The variation in hardness across different sites on your blade is probably larger than the measurement error any way...

@@apex_alchemy_knivesOf course there are testers that can provide that level of accuracy. What do you think they use to calibrate the testing blocks? If +/- 2.5 HRC was the best attainable accuracy with this testing apparatus then your calibration block couldn't be rated +/- 0.5. That is the whole point, if you use proper testing protocol and you are getting values outside of +/- 0.5 (for a block that is certified as such) then it would mean the tester is not calibrated properly.

Not suprised , I wonder where they are getting that 14C28N? Condor has it delivered already treated. I purchased their Trivitatta Puukko in 1095hc and its equal to my Tops Tanimboca Puukko. That said I still do not trust Condor , even with a good outcome on my one purchase. Ive had some 14C28N from Realsteel literally dent like pot metal. 54 on a scandi knife is defective imho. That edge will roll and warp but also not hold sharpness . Condor has gotta stop making and selling soft blades. You can beat on those knives in videos cause they will bend. Batoning is deceptive and can make ya think a knife is fine. Id rather see heavy notching on very hard dry fruit tree wood. Thats how I test my scandi grinds to see if they are soft. Thanks for the vid.

All micarta is is epoxy resin and stacks of linen material. You can actually make your own micarta epoxy resin is easy to work with, polyester is too.
