- Kayak Fishing in Tomales Bay Drifting/Trolling live bait. Found Herring and shiners as live bait. We drifted and trolling near the red marker and yellow buoy. We had a few Halibut bites, but it was kind of slow. The Striper bite found us tho. We hooked up with a 9lber on a shallow water drift and a 12lber on a slow troll in 25 feet of water.

Do you live close by or stay somewhere close? I think this is close to Inverness? Would love to do this, camp and fish there.
I live in Santa Rosa so about 30-35 min drive. You can park overnight at millers and if you have a boat a lot of the beaches close to hog island are first come first serve. Just be careful of high tides and setting up tent. Just motor or paddle across and you can camp for cheap.

+csufjeff well, I’m going to make a new live well, I got a cheap pump to see if my idea would work and it burnt out. I’ll make one and post in the future but there’s lots of dyi ones on UA-cam out of dog food vaults. Thanks for the support.

It’s about a 19x23 opening with about a 14 inch deep netting. They are called BlackPaw and it can extend up to 6 1/2 feet
