Well, this is awesome for a stock tranny...plenty of power and it lived this long, says a lot about it. Thanks for all the great info. I know my 21 ram will keep on keeping on.
Yeah I was forced to do the trans first. After I put my 2nd gen swap on my 5th gen I smoked the 68. Ended up getting a Randy’s stage 3 and year and half later with good tunes it’s doing great I love it. Now I’m adding 200% injector and sent my cp3 conversion to get stroked to a 12mil so it should be a good setup
I am currently driving my 4th with a revmax vb using only 1-4 cause my 5th and 6th are toast. I know I am on borrowed time but it has been allowing me to get work done till I can manual swap.
I've been limping in 1-4 for almost a year because I can't afford a 5-10 thousand dollar rebuild. My 2015 is stock but deleted and tuned with a 5 inch lift and 37's. I bought it that way. 30k miles later, 5th and 6th shit the bed 🤢. Can't I just replace the OD clutches?
So what if it flair’s then shifts firmly into the next gear? Kinda fun to completely let out of it when it flairs because the turbo goes stutatatatah.. which I’m sure isn’t actually good to do. Makes me feel like I have a big turbo diesel. 😅
The guys making 4 speeds out of 68rfe are on to something. Instead of a few weak gears and a few strong....make 4 strong gears out of it. Would be nice if we can make a strong 5 speed out of 68 to keep a nice OD. Besides that 48 or Allison swap seems best current set up till more 68 tech becomes available to public.
I sold my 5th gen and got 19 powerstroke with the 6r140 and it’s the best truck I’ve ever owned. I love ram and Cummins but HATE the 68s even after I had mine built it held in the OD clutch packs but good god almighty did it shift hard. If you tune any truck with a 68rfe you have to build the trans. It will not hold point blank period.
Im getting a p2704 zero initial fill volume into 4th but then gets instantaneous volume. I get a quick flare then catch 4th quickly P2704 never threw a check engine had to scan for trouble codes to find out. I hope its a valvebody as im sitting with the big boy revmax valve body. What do you all think? Tuned 2022 2500 with 21k miles
My 68 RFE handles 600 crank and 1115 ft/lbs crank with racing billet gears. Expensive shit, if want to hammer on it I need a new computer with 225 psi for 3rd and 4th gears so I don't blow my two shift kits and gears
Just had mine built at Ultramatic diesel performance in Virginia they did an awesome job installed upgraded clutches input shaft OD drum Valve body work there turn around time is great as well I broke my input shaft on September 16 and had the transmission to them on the 21 and got it back on October 5 I installed next day and it has never ran or shifted this smooth from day 1
I have this same problem on my 21 as well. 4,5,6 use the OD clutch do they not? If the OD clutch is cooked, would you not slip 4th as well? I can’t seem to wrap my head around that one.
I did my own trans work. ATS is the way to go. They gave sound advise and all the tech support you could ask for. I have 850hp and this trans isn’t going anywhere!
Was it your first time doing trans work? I haven't messed with one but mine is needing a rebuild. I just can't afford what these folks here in Texas want to charge, it's insane. Even if I buy the parts, they want 3+ grand for labor.
That's not the truck you put the revmax unit right? My 19 is doing something similar. It will drive in 5th and 6th but it I try to kick it down or lay on the throttle it slips and throws gear code. I want a revmax unit but am going with randys instead it's a Lil cheaper. What is you opinion on randys 68?
Just go watch a few of his videos, my friend. He abuses the snot out of his own trucks to engineer stuff that lasts. He has his own in house billet valvebody. Really happy with my stage 2. When you are talking close to 10 grand for a Trans, nothing about them is cheap.
@@patarmstrong3582 I ended up purchasing a 2019 stage 3 from randy's I'm excited to get it. And yes it was a pretty penny. But I went ahead and got the 3 because I plan on adding fuel and a compound set up eventually. Thanks for the input brotha
@@monsterram6617 I don’t need 750hp to daily drive and tow 26k. At 500hp the 6r140 does just fine. The 68rfe has a hard enough time standing up to 450 horse. With valve body separation and Cross bleeding in the circuits the 68rfe is always going to be doomed. If I were going to build something to race I’d still stick with a 6.7 Power stroke over a Ram. The reason being, the drive line is far more superior. P.S. Up until my 2016 6.7 powerstroke , Almost all of my trucks have been Cummins.
Show us the tear down and rebuild!!!

Thank you for watching sir !!
Randys stage 2 has not had as much as a hiccup in my 2008 mega cab. Very well built trans.
I'm in the same spot. S472, 12m pump, 100%overs with factory trans and burnt up 5th and 6th while tuning it. W&p development trans coming soon
Let’s Gooo!!

@@POINTBLANKPERFORMANCE Still going strong as a 4 speed. All trans monitors look good on tuner.
@@D.M.Designs Got a used 5G trans with a billet valve body in it if you need one!

I did the same for some time 4th just went out on my truck. I HAVE to drop the trans and service the overdrive clutches.
Snapped my input shaft in half and then installed a Revmax 700 😎
Lost my 2nd then it came back to life and left me stranded with 4th giving out.
Hey, we got that trophy though. ☺️😃
Real Nice !!!

Thr allison loses all the same gears behind the same motor.
I've got a 21 with bad od clutches, 68rfe, where can I go as near by Wisconsin as possible to have this built and beefed up as much as possible?
I apologize sir but we don’t have any dealers your way! We can always drop ship a unit to you !
What's your experience with the aisin transmission?
Have you ever leaned on one, just to see?
Not yet !

How’s that holding up now if you still have it? Looking at going to them for a built trans

I believe he said 4th is on a different pack than 5-6. If I understood him correctly.
Muldoon’s transmission
Revmax 1st

Suncoast all day long
68rfe...WORST TRANSMISSION EVER strapped to a Cummins!
could go out of the box and shove a built Allison behind it
Throw an Allison in it
You’re dumb
Glad I’m not running a 68 anymore. Screw the dodge and get a 6.7 powerstroke.
