Honestly gents, your channel is the only channel for instructional content, there is so much subjective content out there, it’s too easy for us mere mortals to go the complete wrong way. The thought of “as much depth as possible” from other videos, never gets brought into context with body rotation and arm abduction etc and very rarely backed up with evidence. I’ve gone from 13 to 8.4 this year with your advice only. So a very sincere thank you, and keep up the great work. 👍🏻

Awesome job taking the info and turning it into lower scores! 👏
You’re 100% right. We’ve seen so many swings ruined because of how they’ve been told or interpreted how to get depth in their swings. It’s sad what some folks have been told to do in the name of depth 😖

Their channel is excellent because it offers a unique take but I find that different perspectives use different Lingo and explanations that set off light bulbs for me. This is one of the go to, must have, instructional channels though

Guys - THANK YOU for posting this video! I have been bringing the club too inside (all arms) for years and knew it but could not stop. Seeing how little the hands move has put me on such a better plane with loads of room to swing down without fear of hooking. Took this to the range and wow! Thank you!!

100 % brother... it all makes sense now. The one vid showed that your hands move basically up and down on its own plain and this hoop shows that in a easy and practical way, your hands should not move much close to the ball on the down, its mind blowing to me because i have the same issue, waaaaay inside so i top almost every ball.. That happened because i was trying to shallow the club and it messed me up... That also explain why i have my club face way open the whole time, because it compensates for the hook.. Now the work starts to get it out of the system and its not easy.. My lawn has 300 holes in it, not sure my wife is going to be too happy with me about that... hahaha

I was typing my last comment before I grabbed a club even..I just did.. Wow.. It's amazing how much the swing is affected by the stability of the pelvis with the bent shins and the pelvis in, weight even. My takeaway isn't going too outside, top and transition are more stable..and u don't have to try as hard to Recenter.. All the way to the release being faster and more forward.. Just EVERYTHING... Love it! Can't be overlooked.

Congratulations and a huge thank you. This is one of the very best lessons you have ever given. I have been working hard on getting a wide arc and depth in the backswing, keeping the right arm from folding, pushing it away from my shoulder and keeping the left arm straight. But your reminder of how skilled players move their arms back by rotating their torso, not independently, combined with your illustration of the 90 degree angle at three stages of the backswing and how skilled players keep their left wrist inside of the right shoulder all the way, was the clearest and most effective explanation I have seen in my 59 years of playing golf. Went to the range today and before hitting drives ran through a slow practice swing checking my positions at the three stages you show. Focusing on keeping those angles and positions all the way back was a great reminder of the importance of turning the torso and shoulders back as far as one can, and of the considerable effort and concentration it takes to do so at my age of 80. The reward was definitely better, longer drives. So, thank you.

I am now probably 40 hours over the last couple weeks into watching your videos. Some of them many many many times over, understanding or hearing something a different way the 2 nd time. This video here possibly might change my golfing life! The hand path might be my game changer another one of those perception issues I’ve had all my life. I’m 66 years old, (I think I’m 18), and I have new golf enthusiasm because I feel freedom coming in my swing. I can’t believe my posture perception, has been like shooting a basketball in my mind , right….I just did drills in front of the mirror and all of a sudden I feel like the whole posture thing might’ve been my problem last night at the range feeling stuck practicing re- centering! Anyway I’m going to the range as soon as possible I’m in Phoenix and it’s 119° and I can’t wait to get out to do it! As I’ve said earlier in previous comments that I’ve had
lessons (possibly embarrassingly to say at a currently 14 handicap, maybe 200-300ish lessons), and two coaches being big-time national golf instructors, and although they’ve touched on topics, I truly believe they tried their best to help change what they saw right…..BUT….I have never progressed when I should had w the amount of time I have practiced….. all these years fing incorrectly!!!!
Thank you …. By the way how can I come and visit you and get on the schedule!?

Probably because I was afraid of too much knee bend pushing my pelvis back out... Weight was more in the toes.. Throwing me around..now it's much easier...I was also having trouble with the right knee because of it..I couldn't seem to get it to want to bend on the way back down more naturally. Problem solved. Thank you for another great video - consistently the best online instruction! Regarding width and depth, having seen your earlier backswing instruction I'm struggling to piece 2 videos together - initiating with more of an arm swing so that at left arm parallel the shoulders have only completed about half their rotation, yet the angle between the left arm and shoulders (when looking from above, down the spine) remains close to the address angle. I find I can't combine both - initiating with more of an arms move (which really helps width and less of an overswing) takes my left arm closer to my chest and delivers a deep right elbow unfortunately. Any help appreciated! Thanks again

Firstly thanks for a great video. May I ask one question, at around 10.50 you discuss the downswing hand path from face on and make the comment that the hands actually move away from the ball rather than toward it. Would you say that this is a conscious move particularly if you’ve previously been a “right elbow into the side” player? I’ve always played like that with a very narrow downswing and had a ton of early lag that way but I lose that lag before the strike and feel like I save the shot with the hands. If you can find the time to comment that would be much appreciated.

Superb video. Very well explained with the body models. My only issue with the advice here is if I start limiting the arm movement as per 14:10 in this video, I lose about 10-20 yards off my distances. The shaft won’t get anywhere near parallel to the ground at the apex of the back swing, I’ll not be able to rotate further than about 20-30 degrees past vertical and that’s a bit loss of power for me. Is there a way to do this and retain the power?

Most golfers should not be anywhere near shaft parallel at the top. If you're losing that much distance there are most likely other issue at play here.

@@AthleticMotionGolf ok good to know, thanks! Perhaps I’m placing too much importance on how far I go in the backswing. I’ll say again though, that video was very well explained! I’d love to get a deep-dive video on arms in particular. Both myself and my playing buddy struggle with throwing the arms at the ball rather than keeping them back and pulling them down as you describe in this video. I guess it makes sense as in most other sports like tennis or base ball you think about the racket/bat as an extension of your arm. In golf that’s wrong because the club head is at an angle to the shaft which is at an angle to your arms. Swing hands at the ball itself and I need to do all sorts of compensations to actually hit the thing… typically resulting a high, scooped slice.

Great video as always gents. Quick question… I was thinking about purchasing a divot board. I’ve seen a few at golf stores and Amazon for $40-$60. What is the different for this one that accounts for the $129.00 price tag?
Appreciate you guys!! Keep up the good work…

Dope ass video fellas!! Getting a hula hoop immediately. The meshpoint of the takeaway and backswing still eludes me but I know it happens much sooner for better players

I'm intrigued by the hoop-drill, where you stay in one plane with the hands. How does that relate to the shallowing move you describe in other videos? It seems somewhat contradictory, but i suspect it's something to do with the club (shaft) not being in the hoop plane.? Could you elaborate please?

Cool video. Question, moving the center of pelvis directly over the ankles using the wall, I feel like most of my weight is on my toes. Is this correct? Should this change on a short iron vs a driver?

@@AthleticMotionGolf thanks for the reply. Do you notice that golfers who’s pelvis is behind ankles are too close to the golf ball? I’ve been experimenting with backing up a few inches to fix this. Is there any solid technique to make sure a golfer is the correct distance from the ball?

    • @AthleticMotionGolf
      @AthleticMotionGolf  3 роки тому +1

@@johnmartishius4850 typically we’ll see guys reach too much when that’s the case, but every once and awhile someone will be too close. After your hip is over your ankles, let your arms hang straight down from their sockets. When both of those are in place, it’s hard not to have a good ball position from there 👍

Thanks for the winning trifecta! Mike, on the first drill where you state you feel like you are not on your heels and gripping the ground better, is your weight mostly over your arches and balls of your feet assuming the center of the pelvis is over the ankles?
