I like to keep it clean, sometimes its pretty brown at 5 hours. The engine has 175 hours with no issues so Ill keep doing the short intervals. The way I ride I change it every month or 2

I've got the '05 WR450 also and its crazy the dipstick is high on the frame when the oil drains right back into the crankcase soon after you turn it off anyway anyway, it's nuts the way they make you check it like that versus just putting the dipstick on the cap right on the crankcase.. Quick tip, cut a piece of long straight coat hanger and after you ensure the oil is full take the coat hanger straight down into the lower crankcase until it stops and then permanently Mark the oil level when it's cold, Now it's a just a quick check from now on versus warming it up and checking it on the frame like that..👍
How did the header pipe fit with the big bomber? I fit the fmf and just kept fouling so i kinds made it fit. What they didnt tell you is to "ding it" right where the banjo bolt for the oil pipe is on the head. Great vid man appreciate it
Good question I have to look later how close it is. I have 150+ hours with it so it cant be doing too much damage lol are yu sure your problem isnt with the carb or something? My wr feels fuel injected, ive never heard it bog before. Anytime! These bikes are so awesome
Thank you! Its actually not a kit. I pieced it together with seperate graphics for each plastic. The swingarm gytr graphics are probably impossible to find now.
@@frankiemarchese2978 Looke amazing man! I’m building a 05 wr450 right now for my first super moto style bike and i’m taking much inspiration off yours! things to clean not to 😂
I missed the 8m side bolt but found 1.2 litre of oil came out. I didnt have an 8m socket do you think this will be fine for one service interval? Thanks for video helped me find the drain holes.
@@aussieaussie8593 You should be okay doing this one time. Not a lot of oil comes out from the 8mm bolt. But over time if you keep doing that it may not be good because the oil level will keep rising if you add the 1.1 L each time. But if you check the dipstick after each change and its within the lines I dont see a problem. IMO its best to get as much oil out as you can 👍
Thanks. I cant remember if they are lightspeed or gytr, but here is the link below for the lightspeed ones www.lightspeedcarbon.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=031%2D00503%2D3
Anytime! The 07 is different. You have the aluminum frame which doesnt flow oil through it. Im not sure what the procedure is, its best to look online for a service manual. Your drain plugs are most likely in different spots on the engine.
@@frankiemarchese2978 thanks for your response bro your right. i should always refer to the manual. btw that is nice set of sm wheels you got on there how do they grip ? were they hard to put on ? im thinking of doing the same
Thank you. I found them used at the right time for a great deal. It was the best thing I ever did. It made me fall in love with the bike. They grip very well. I have a 5” rear wheel. It would turn better with a 140 tire, now I have a 150. But honestly with the amount of sand on the roads its not worth leaning too far anyways. I use shinko podium tires and they ae great! My rear is currently bald and I am going to buy a different set next to experiment

Those imo wont get clogged up or dirty as long as your engine is clean inside. I overhauled this whole engine so I know everything in there is spotless. Im comfortable with only doing the drain bolts + the filter. I dont think its necessary to crack that big screened bolt in the frame each oil change. Maybe every top end rebuild yes.
Again it's 2 much but if you like 2 change oil every couple of weeks- months it's ok. Depends how many hours a day you use this 🤮motart (dirtbike 😉)
