Same here too! Ever since I came across the video of Mumbles hurt, I have been checking out the homestead everyday. I think my attachment comes from me losing my 13 year old dog from cancer. I took care of him every day and night for a year and I lost him right before Mumbles got hurt. ❤❤❤❤
I'm so happy for Rita 🎉 but that spay on that field, regardless of it not being the cause of her not feeling well killing the wild birds is terrible that would make me nervous. It feels terrible when something happens to an animal. ❤ good luck keeping them safe
It would not surprise me if it was an effect of the spray. A lot of insecticides are poisonous to birds. The extra vitamins you gave Rita probably helped give her more strength to fight the poisoning. I am so happy she is okay. But I am also worried about the other birds going forward with the neighbour spraying such dangerous chemicals.
I love the way you're in touch with all your animals. You engage with them all individually, you treat them so good, you talk to them, you recognise them and react to their individual needs so well.
You said that well. I'm always impressed with how much respect and care he has for the animals and his land. I think he is like this with people, too. His replies are genuine, thoughtful, and kind.
It is SO helpful when you explain what you have researched and learned so we might learn also! From youtubers like yourself, I learned how to splint a broken leg on a chicken that jumped to a roof and landed wrong coming back down (she healed!), how to save a chicken with a sour crop, and how to help an eggbound chicken. I want ducks now and a guard goose and feel better, because there are no avian vets here also!! Thank you, Cody!!
Rita Baby 🦆So glad she is doing better. If only they could talk with words and tell us what hurts and who did it 😭 So scary how those chemicals can take out wildlife so easily imagine what it does to our systems over time 😔
I'm 75 and live in northern California off-grid. Thank you so much for keeping the public inform. Sad she's having reaction to poisin. Birdbox and research is a good start. Apple cider vinegar with the mother's in it.😕🤔
Seeing Rita sick totally breaks my heart! I’m so happy she is doing better. She’s been such an important part of the homestead. NURSE RITA WE LOVE YOU 😘
Cody, I think you should keep a close watch on your other ducks just in case the poison wafted over in the breeze. Not sure how close they are to the border. Maybe the hens too.. you are so good with her.❤
Even though you found the problem with Rita, it's very scary to think that with all your lovely grazing animals and gardens, you have a neighbor that uses herb/pesticide spray. Is there some kind of 3 or 4 ft barrier fencing to help block the low flying overspray? I know you can't block it all but anything would be better than nothing. So glad Rita is ok.
Hearing the panic in his breathing when he seen Rita’s situation broke my heart. I know that feeling all to well when you come up on one of your pets and they don’t look ok. It gives you an instant panic attack.
Your loving care toward your animals gets me so choked up. 🥲💞 Please get yourself a cup of coffee or a beer or whatever type of drink is your favorite, on me. You're such a hard worker and so caring and personable. I'm so relieved Rita is doing better. 🫶
I love how Eco Pup was fussing Rita he knew she wasn’t well. But what warms my heart the most is how kind and genuinely caring you are to Rita and all the others ❤
The concern and love in your voice for Rita was very genuine. I felt so bad, I almost starting crying. The way you did your research to find the problem and a solution was great. Rita was so happy to join the flock, she was flapping those wings. Love the content Cody..Hi Echo!!😃
Cody - that sure was a scare with Rita & I am so happy she recovered quickly with your care. I love how you ask all the ducks what happened to Rita as if they will answer. Maybe they will one day, Dr. Dolittle! ❤
Maybe they psychically did, is that even a word? Oh well, it sounded good. There are animal communicators. Maybe he's tuned in, I wouldn't be surprised if he was.😊
Yes, I’m so glad to know that Rita, is doing so much better. I sure did tear up last night. I love all your animals, but Rita, Mumbles & Khaki has a special place in my heart 💜
I'm from Ontario Canada and we definatly have some different regulations on what we can spray into the environment!!! Hoping yu dont find anymore dead creatures!!! Great job with Rita!! She is such pretty duck!!!
I had a chicken that done the very same thing. I researched online for 12 hours and came across a video that showed a rooster doing the same thing and she said it's due to not enough of vitamin B. I had my husband to pick up some vitamin B complex and the next day after giving her some she was standing. Still very wobbly and fragile but after 3 days I put her back in her pen with her flock and she's been great ever since. All those vitamins and minerals are good for them. I'm the vet on my homestead too including stitching up animals. You gotta do what you gotta do.❤❤❤
Glad to see Rita doing so much better! And hopefully that fence will help keep out any wild turkey or Canadian geese that try walking onto your property from the neighbors!
Poor Rita!😢 It's so hard when your animals are sick and they can't tell you what's wrong. That poison could be what made Rita sick. The wind could have made the poison drift over to your farm.
You are the best duck daddy in the world! And probably the only duck doctor out there! You are the top of the best and you dont hold a medical card, but i would bring a duck to you if something was wrong. You are the best!
I’m so happy to hear Rita is going to be okay. I’m so glad that you take such good care of all your animals. That poison in the field is scary. Surely there are better alternatives that could be used.
That's exactly what I was thinking!! You'd think there'd have to be safer ways to treat the field! Poison seems way too dangerous for all the animals, and I'm sure it can't be good for humans either :'>
I love your videos so much! Thank you for letting us see both the ups and the downs. It makes me invested in your flocks, herds, and life in general. I just love it. And I am so very, very happy that Nurse Rita is ok!
Vitamin deficiencies are no joke! I'm glad it was that which is easy to fix and not any kind of complication from the poison they sprayed. I had a suspicion it wasn't otherwise she wouldn't have been the only duck sick. But yes... Brewer's yeast in their feed is an excellent idea to help with this to ensure they get some extra B3 in their diet they may be lacking, good call. 👍🏻 I had total faith you would be able to treat Rita and she would be out back with the flock in no time. The brewer's yeast should help stop that from happening again too. Great job Cody! 🩺🤍 It might not be a bad idea to have some charcoal on hand in case the poison does somehow get into the water supply though.
Sooo good to see Rita bounce back so quickly!! Seeing her so lethargic was heartbreaking :< You did so good helping her out, Dr. Cody to the rescue!! It does make me curious if she could have eaten something that was poisoned though, and maybe once she got it passed and out of her system that helped her feel better too? Not sure obvs. All the vitamins surely helped her out either way though! Whether or not it was a deficiency, I'm sure those really helped strengthen her to fight through the healing process! Ugh, the poisoned field is so nerve wracking though, hopefully it will dissipate quickly and the area will be safe for everybody again very soon!
I agree with everyone I’ve become so invest in the ducks and the chickens. I’m so glad she is doing better keep watching her to make sure she’s a 100%. Nurse Rita is loved by us all. I wish you had better vets out there but so glad you do research to help nurse all the animals back to health.
always comment on the first upload since i subscribe to a channel, may have binged on like two months of shorts and your last few full uploads, really enjoy the content. honestly so genuinely heartwarming to see how much empathy and care you have for your animals
Remarkably fast recovery, awesome! Your helping instincts are so right-on. Well done for both of you! Just came back now - it's November - to revist Rita, Such a brave duck. She went through a lot in her life - maybe that social ostracizing by the duck flock is the worst. Touch world, huh? Good for the soul to see her being given such kind care. xxox
I am surprised how attached I am to your ducks. My eyes teared up over rita. That's a testament to how good your storytelling is.
Same! My heart felt like it dropped to my stomach!
Same here too! Ever since I came across the video of Mumbles hurt, I have been checking out the homestead everyday. I think my attachment comes from me losing my 13 year old dog from cancer. I took care of him every day and night for a year and I lost him right before Mumbles got hurt. ❤❤❤❤

You're officially the best bird vet in town, well done Cody!
I agree. 🏆👍
We just changed avian vets and so glad we did, they also see chickens and ducks etc. do think he needs to search out one and have them as a back up.
I'll pray for you and Rita. Your duck, I have my dinner waiting for me,
I'm so happy to Rita back w the flock. I bet Mumbles and Khaki were worried about her.
Great job, Doc Cody 🩺💉
Thank you for being such a great dad to all your flock ❤
You are so kind! Thank you!
To see eco nudge her like get up friend....broke my heart

Remember Cody when Mumbles eye was all messed up and you helped her even though you hate to do anything with eyes? I was proud of you! ❤
Rita Baby 🦆So glad she is doing better. If only they could talk with words and tell us what hurts and who did it 😭 So scary how those chemicals can take out wildlife so easily imagine what it does to our systems over time 😔
Hope you get your vet certificate, you're a natural ❤

You are a remarkable human.
Thank you for updating us. I was so worried about Rita. So glad that she is better and back with the flock. ❤

Maybe he's tuned in, I wouldn't be surprised if he was.😊
You’re a great caregiver Cody! It’s a such relief when we get a good response to the care we give. They know your voice.

It'll be interesting to see how the wildlife reacts, it'll likely only contain my ducks, it probably won't disrupt much else
So glad to see Rita back and doing so much better. I’m sure Mumbles and Khaki are relieved as well. They were probably up all night worried about her.
You are the sweetest most compassionate person
You sure found her just in the Nick of time. Glad Rita is okay

It’s a process. ❤ you got a lot done even with taking care of Rita. I so happy she’s better.
Cody I wish we could all pool in for a fence for you to put up around that field area. I guess maybe an Amazon card on your account?
