- I went looking for this scene on UA-cam the other day and couldn't find it, unfortunately. So I decided to put it up myself! This is one of my family's favorite Christmas movies, and this is one of the most quoted scenes in my house year-round. Enjoy! ^_^
These steps might as well be Mount Everest. - Комедії
these steps might as well be Mt. Evererest...😆😆🗻
The best Ernest line ever.
Was downtown orlando haa
Pretty much waiting for something to break but it just doesn't lol
Me and my husband say that every time we go up a set of stairs 😂😂😂😂
My. Ernest
"A lonely old woman forced to cope in a world of indifference." Such a great line 😂🤣
"Don't side with him honey, there's no future in it." (doubles over laughing)
I gotta remember that one. XD
Just tell me where he is.
@@timmccaughey540 I never noticed that his cab number in Ernest Saves Christmas is 69 lol
@@m.k.1645 and there's already damage to it
R.I.P. 🪦 Jim Varney
he should have hosted SNL at least once.
yeah! good call man!
well maybe he still can, SNL is still on the air
+Jonathan Bender he's dead now
@@jonathanbender7347 His mother had two sons. Wouldn't you know our luck, the funny one dies.
@@jonathanbender7347 uhh, he died 20 years ago.
Not only is this funny as hell but the lighting is absolutely perfect whenever Nelda leans toward the receptionist. Gives her face an almost sinister look.
True !!! Ha , Ha , Ha !!@
@@reginaldwebster9243 :D
...'almost'?
RIP Jim you bought me alotta laughs as a child
I had to come back and watch this he was so damn funny
"These steps might as well be Mount Everest."
"Having walked from the airport, I'll be died soon"
"That's life for you, you have two son's, one good one bad, and wouldn't you know it with my luck....the good one dies."
"Don't side with him, honey! There's no future in it."
If it was Jim Varney or one of the writers who came up these hilarious one-liners is a genius!
The lines are both hilarious and genius. The dialogue and his performance are Shakespearean in power and substance. Pay attention his mabnerisms they are quite theatrical which amplifies the comedy!
"Is my second-born son without a sliver of gratitude?"
It’s Jim Varney. His stand up early in his career is basically him performing these characters on stage
Rip
"Have walking from the airport i'll be dead soon"
"Having walked from the airport, I'll be dead soon."
LOL
"The good one dies" LMAO
Jim Varney was one of a kind.... When he got into a character he took it all the way to the moon🚀🚀 check out his facial expression's and his eyebrows while he's talking… Classic‼️‼️❤️‼️
blu68caddy he is the older version of jim carry
Or the alive version of John Belushi
Jim Varner is hands down the most underrated actor.
He was the best :)
It's amazing how he starts with a question but drifts into accusation and the receptionist doesn't even notice. She's to besotted by Nelda and her woes and worries.
David Hammond He was building off what she started to say. She says "Marty Brock" and he finishes: "...is my second born son without a sliver of gratitude."
BehindMySarcasm ah never noticed that
What we laughed at most was the receptionist.....TRYING to stay "straight-faced!" LMAO!
Ernst's disguises are always a hoot, especially this character.
I remember when I very first saw this I was no more good 😂
I was crying laughing my grandmother thought I was cracking up.
RIP Jim varney and mama I really miss you both💕💕
I wish Jim was still with us. He had so much more to give. I have heard his friends say he could do Shakespeare monologues that were awesome, I would love to have seen that.
There is footage online of him quoting Hamlet
This is one of my favorite Ernest clips of all time.
I LOVE Auntie Nelda. So sad that Jim Varney is no longer with us. :(
R.I.P Jim Varney
Multi-Hapa
one of the funniest..i don't know if it was deliberate, but in this scene Jim Varney reminds me of Eileen Heckert - particularly his vocal inflections...
"Where is he? Where is Mar-'in? I need him to help me with my will, having walked from the airport I'll be dead soon .."
I love he goes in character before he's even inside the building.
Good ole Jim Varney there will never be another like him. Amazing actor!
Ernest was an awesome drag queen
Oh God, I remember this. Good times. I miss Jim, R.I.P.
Rest in peace Jim Varney
"You have two sons, one good, 😇 one bad, 😈 and wouldn't you know it, with my luck, the good one dies." 😵😖
Lmao
Earnest was Varny's outlet for his extreme range of characters to just come out and play
I love Aunt Nelda ❤️
These steps might as well be Mount Everest......that line always cracks me up good!!!
These steps might as well be Mount Everest
Imagine a grandma like that waking u up in the morning dressed like that with that bass voice, it'll scared the daylights outta me
I grew up on Jim.. he definitely was one of a kind, i always loved how he would monologue, there was one in every movie he had, i always thought it was a way to show that he really was a great actor but he jus wanted to be Jim as well, and thus was one of my favorites, especially the snake scene sneaking Santa into the studio 😂
OMG I remember this as a kid, classic "don't side with him honey, there's no future in it"
Man. He was such an amazing actor and comedian. I used to have all of those movies on VHS back in the day. Ok, Ok I am giving my age away. :) Anyway, long live Ernest P. Worrell. (Jim Varney ) Was a sad day when the world lost their favorite comedian.
So funny it’s just like my grandma Hah Hah Hah Hah
Here this woman comes with all her baggage and sorrow...too dam funny!
Long before Tyler Perry did Medea, and Robin Williams as Ms. Doubtfire, there was Jim Varney as Aunt Nelda.
Just so freaking funny, pure comedy gold!
Ernest P. Worrel was my childhood favorite.
I don’t want to say it. But. Underrated.
I love how froggy his voice is. LOL! R.I.P. Jim.
Good clean comedy! RIP Jim!
Maybe my favorite scene of all time
R.I.P. 🪦 Jim Varney
Brilliant. RIP Mr. Varney., RIP.
he could have been the perfect Bea Author
Seth Caine He had the voice down, that's for sure.
Always loved this scene!
Probably my favorite part of the whole movie. 😂 Hilarious!
The actress is trying so hard not to crack lmao i dont know you can keep a straight face when jim doing his thing.
one of the best scenes ever in a movie. thanks for the upload :-D
Found it! This is one of the best lines ever!
Brings back great memories watching this with my kids........we replayed this scene many times. We always laughed at the receptionist trying to contain her laughter......I always wondered how many times it took her to get through the scene!
Having walked from the airport il be dead soon lol....
Thanks for doing it!... this is probably my favorite scene of the movie
rasanche68 agree
This guy played an old woman better than any of the Golden Girls.
You know this scene while meant to be funny is in it's own way pretty artistic. I wanna believe it had some improvistic elements to it, actors like to draw from personal experiences to deliver lines and this whole setup of a lonely old woman coming to meet her son sounds a story that was passed on to someone. The lines of Mt. Everest, drawing up a will, and don't side with the bad child honey were very well executed as well.
This was one of his best :)
he could play any part
Legendary, I wish he was still here with us. Such a genius!
Don't side with him honey, there's no future in it
"Don't side with him honey there's no future in it .."
I agree! And it was my pleasure. :)
LOVED this shit when I was 10. LOVING it now as an old man eating beans.
I can't stop watching this it's so funny i love you auntie nelda
This performance is genius and hilarious at the same time because it is Shakespearean in power and substance. Pay attention to his words and mannerisms.
"That's life for you; you have two sons, one good one bad, and wouldn't you know it, with my luck... the good one dies." LOL RIP Jim Varney
Now THAT'S funny
Thanks for posting this!!!! "Ernest" never got his due! This is one of the funniest clips on the internet....Are you familiar with the "snake farmer?"
That camera angle fisheye lens and lighting makes this creepy as hell but hysterical at the same time 😨🤣
Vlogger Adam the Woo visited the filming sites and found the front of that building with the steps. It still looks pretty much the same after all these years.
"These steps still might as well be Mount Everest."
Having walked from the Green Line to Terminal 6 at LAX...I'll be dead soon! XD
Why does Dorothy from The Golden Girls come to mind when I hear Nelda's voice? 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
When he plays "mother" it's Priceless
Miss him!!!
Genius...
This is a great movie.
So perfect
Earnest should got Hall Of Fame. Enjoy watch his film movies. Thank You.

We just did a podcast episode about this inane piece of cinematic history.
I loved him in my childhood
Thank you
Look at them eyes...
Auntie Nelda's intimidation roll is 38!
The original Madea
0:41 Cain and Abel
I'm doing this for Halloween. Just to see how many people get the joke. I did Bernie (weekend at bernies) last year. My dad hit the floor laughing.
You know they did a Bernie’s 2 right?
@@Kr0nicDragon yep. That's the version I did. The voodoo stumbling dance/walk.
Merry Christmas Yall
Now we know what John Cena looks like in drag.
Lmao
Ernest was like the kid's version of Ethan Hunt at times lmao
I posted a video entitled "Jim Varney was a Comedic Genius". I wanted to add this scene too, but you already beat me to it. ;-)
@Zorro3906 Yup, it's one of my all-time favorite scenes from a movie. :)
