What's really weird is mine actually came with a plastic tray in the box as opposed to the cardboard I don't know if this was just an earlier version or if it was something they did exclusively with the Sam's club bundle pack that actually came with an extra controller and game additional on top of the one that came with the system
This model 1 is essentially the same chip as a model 2 from 1992 that would come with Sonic 2 game cartridge. Yes the model 2 did output stereo sound as well at least the early production Sonic 2 ones did from later 1992 to early 1994. Later model 2s I think it wasn't an option anymore when they really cheapened those out.
The Sega genesis 2 didn’t output stereo only double mono the way the model 1 outputted it was with the headphone jack on the front the genesis 2 does not have the headphone jack at the front

The Sega Genesis is what I got because my mother and father got me rhat for my birthday. I got a nice model 2 genesis and it actually came with Mr and Mrs pacman. For Christmas I got all three of the sonic games. I can look for the 6 button controller online to order it with my dad. And 4 extra games the goes with the controller my good man. Thank you:)
Cool I found my old Sega Megadrive today with Sonic The Hedgehog still in the box with manual but the Megadrive isn't boxed but I still have the manual for it lol

It's a later model 1. I believe in these it has a different video chip (most likely lower quality hence the removal of the High Definition Graphics logo.)
Those are the 6 button controllers. They came out later in the Genesis's lifespan for fighting games. A stock Genesis only comes with the 3 button controller since those are the original controller.

Nope it is poop, horrible sound, not compatible with lock-on, 32x and Sega CD, and the design sucks, better buying a real Genesis, even the model 2 has a better sound than this AtGames trash
1.rip toys r us 2. Don't get at games. Its actually trash it uses wireless controllers so its easily lost and if a single Lego block gets in the way of the light on the top of the controller then it will not work
I own both sonic 1 & 2 Not for resale versions. Both games are good. I got sonic 2 with my sega genesis. Thats gotta be rare for sonic 1. Both games are definitely enjoyable.
that little vga port your talking about that not on the back of your sega was for a modem to play online.. hint dreamcast was not the first system to go online
You can play the Donkey Kong Country trilogy, Mega Man X, Mario All-Stars + Mario World, Final Fantasy, Zelda.. On Gen you got a lot of great arcade-type games but SNES has de mastapeeces in my opinion.
SNES is superior to the Genesis mainly, but it has no Blast Processing. On the SNES, you will find normally family friendly games, violent games will appear, but they will be censored; on the Genesis, you'll find normally arcade based games, and the violent ones will not be censored. SNES has Super Mario games too like the NES and Sonic games made their debut on the Genesis. Some ports of certain games will be better on the SNES and others on the Genesis. It just depends on what you want.

I would assume he wasn't around when this thing came out. A few things the port that was on the back of the original model 1 was an auxiliary port for things like the modem that never came out it's a 9-pin connector similar to what your controller has it's not VGA at all. And the reason the AV connector was different than the model 2 was repurposing of the master system connector which was the same thing. And that one is by far one of the worst versions of the model one. As the sound was not as good and my personal experience as many others the capacitors tend to go out on those things quite easily so I would probably recommend a capacitor swap out. And by the way this model 2 Genesis did have that very same expansion port on it because there were two different versions of the Sega CD one for the model 1 or model 2 and of course they are interchangeable. But the model one had a mechanical Trey sat under the system while the model 2 had a push button Trey sat next to the system
Weird, we found one in my girlfriend's grandma's basement, looks brand new, but it came in a styrofoam casing inside the box. instead of cardboard in the cardboard.
