Bought an 08 750Li 4.8 v8 for $1,500 one owner dealer service 200,000 MI. The owner Rebuilt transmission 20,000 Mi ago. Transmission goes in limp mode he stops driving it.they were not honoring the warranty. I buy it and tow it home. I use AAA for tow.The Fill screw for the transmission pan was never screwed in it was barely screwed in and as the transmission fluid warms it expands it was pushing out over for over 20,000 mi of driving until it became low enough to cause transmission problems like limp mode.so I fill the transmission up car runs like a clock. I put new shocks in the front and inner and out of tie rods and upper control arms .I put four new tires on it . All in all 2500 out of pocket. It's got rare 20-in staggered setup Wheels . I have a solid car that was 85000 dollars new for $2,500 that I won't have to make payments on. Safe as could be. You gotta do the work yourself or forget it.

How about the valve seals. I've had two (one 04 745; one 06 750). Both cars ended up having bad valve seals when I bought them. The 745 was at 120,000mi. and the 750 at 189,000. Smoke from exhaust would start when in idle or park after a few minutes.

About this type I read many problems, but I bought a 750LI with 94000 KM's 15 months ago, I did drive 12000 km with only oil change and a new battery. I think it is important to have enough budget if you buy a car like this for maintenance. But in my case the first 15 months go very well, last owner changed the valve seals. We will see how it goes further but until now it is quite succesfull, I will change oil every 7500 km's. And I do drive only long distances, my car has been built in 2009.

Ummm $100k car 15 years ago, $3,500 today. Expensive cars are not for everyone. Purpose and reason is to be considered before buying. I am a diy and I love the 750. I’ve seen some 2008 for $3-4k. I’d buy it just because I like these cars but I wouldn’t have high expectations nor recommend for everyone. I always buy used cars that I like but understand and factor the risk and be ok if it doesn’t work out. Depends on your risk tolerance.

I own a 2011 750 and have 114,000 miles on it. It was very well maintained and serviced regularly at the dealer. At 85,000 it had a recall for oil consumption where they fixed it from using oil that cost over $8,000 covered by BMW. Now at 114,000 the front end needs a complete overhaul costing around $8,000 and also the brakes for around $2,000. At a BMW dealership. Got a second opinion and parts alone was almost $6,000.
Love the car, but it can be a money pit even if you baby it. I have washed it every week and had every service done and it still will eat your bank.

If there any BMW F01 available with a diesel engine in US or Canada? In Europe it's possible to find the diesel one, like 730d, 740d or 750d with the same 3 litter diesel engine but only with different quantity of turbines. IMHO, it's more reliable vehicle than specifically 750i with n63 V8 engine.

Even at $16,500 for a 2011 550i.It cost me $2500 in maintenance in the first week.Started as a light coolant leak to the turbo that smoked out the grill when stopped and fumes into the cabin.Heeded this channel’s warning and replaced all coolant lines and the aux water pump, coolant flush.+ plugs and front brakes and Power steering flush..Good times. No regrets.

I'm not sure why you would dissuade anybody from getting the e65 with the n62 NA engine and recommend n63 which is far and away the more complicated example of BMW V8s- Two turbos, intercoolers, injectors costing $400 each, drivetrain malfunction warnings, valve stem seal issues which are more prevalent and happening earlier than n62 because of n63 hot V configuration. All for about 40 hp gain over the n62 (torque a little more). N62 is by far the better bet even with its own issues (and there are a couple, right lol?)

If you cannot work on cars stay away. You can get deals on parts but labor from a dealer and even independent shops can be ridiculous. Invest in a good scan tool and maintaining these cars don't have to be scary. Definetdont want a 4.4 or 4.8 bmw v8 as a daily driver though if possible.use oil even new

Hey Carlton, I have a 2009 BMW 750Li too but with 98k miles! Bought my car @ an auction for 7k. Took a chance and my car died too (it's in limp mode). Why you ask? Checked the battery and it's still good? Well, I can tell you my friend what your issue is because it's what happened to mine as well.
*Your (IBS sensor) is the issue!*
A IBS is what causes your car to go into limp mode. Because its job is to save your cars computer and electronics. If you jump start your car from the hood you can override this issue (but for only 10 min or so) then the car will die again. Anyway I changed mine and it fixed the issue completely. I recommend though after a fix you make sure to still scan your BMW for any other issues while your on a roll, just dont give up.
Oh and if your ***wondering where your IBS sensor is.. its literally connected to your negative terminal on the battery in the trunk.*** Its connected to a clip (sensor) and is grounded to the vehicle itself. It looks like a black little square with a big black ground wire connected to it. Part will cost about $400 but its money well spent my friend. You can even do the work yourself like me. Inspired by Francisco Amaya.
Hope this helps and I could always use a 2009 750Li friend. My other issues have been air suspension (a green relay hidden in the trunk under that plastic cover where the battery used to be) and barely finding out that the AT transmission pan has the filter built into it. Lmfao I was trying to pull it off for a while so keep this in your mind. I do my work myself in the driveway in the AZ heat. Thank you BMW fans for helping each other out. Ps. Sorry for writing a book haha.

Thanks bigboyboucne for your time and concern. I will definitely try that. I felt like it was some kind of safety shut down. With it now my mechanic thinks it’s fuel pump I never had that problem until I left bmw dealership it shut down on me. I felt like they did some funny shit! Bc I wasn’t paying that high shit. Send me your email or number I may sell it. It’s clean in and out

I haven't had any problems. Yes it was expensive upfront. But it's also dealer maintained 🤑
Don't buy one unless you can afford it. Simple. 🙂

5:23. Stop giving excuses! BMW BUILDS 💩 PERIOD!! It ain’t got nothing to do with “so much technology” or any other lame reason. Even their cheap models are unreliable pieces of💩. That 1 series was terrible for reliability.

actually contrary to your opinion, those cars are actually shit, engineered motors even the straight six beemers are crappy motors. even if you maintain it one day the motor will overfuel and wash out a cylinder and blow, never buy bmw.

Not all used cars are problematic, if the previous owner was neglecting it, that is likely why some used cars are falling apart.....I know there are brand new cars that have more problems than used ones....so stop deceiving people with that crap!!!!
