For us OBD1 guys If you want it to light up connect the center green bulb with wires to an extra yellow bulb you will plug below it. Also there’s pics of this on bimmerforums. Totally worth it!
OK I installed it. The 4 screws to remove the back cover of the cluster are T10 torx. The gauge strip thing is indeed hard to get out. Take time and be careful. I ended up picking it from the left and right edges to lift from the pin - the strip overlaps the left and right sides a bit so a fair portion of the edges aren't visible from the front - so if you happen to slightly scratch or bend the strip it won't be visible. I cut off the old M logo straight across at the same height as the rest of the strip - three passes with a new exacto blade cut it off cleanly. I had to enlarge the hole on the new M logo a tiny bit to get it to fit... but once it fit it's squared up pretty well left-to-right to center the logo nicely... then you'll just have to get the rotation perfect and then screw the back on. When screwing the back on make sure you put the screws in the right place... I put a couple screws in the wrong hole and they disappeared inside the cluster - had to take it apart again, align M logo again, and close again. For those of you w/96-99 US spec M3 with the small M3 logo with 'ACS' below it this new logo replaces it and the M will backlight when ASC is deactivated. Lastly, the suction cup is genius! I know from previous experience the cluster is actually 'very' difficult to remove otherwise. I bought the cups linked below and stuck one on each side of the cluster and pulled out. www.amazon.com/gp/product/B077QP2QG5/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Thanks man! Tooootally hear you with the faded M. Brett "MSportParts" is about as particular as they come with quality parts/refreshing cars properly...it's not surprising he came out with this! Yup, just razor blade off the old M.
Nice Video! Thanks! I'm seriously thinking of replacing my steering. I'd love that. Do you have a Video on replacing the Steering and Original BMW Part # please? Thank you!
It looks like you are just missing a bulb in the backlit ///M spot. Try grabbing a working bulb from one of the slots you don't care about and twisting it in there.
Yes, they are capable of being illuminated on ASC clusters. Non-ASC clusters you can rig up a powered bulb off main cluster illumination. Jordan has no bulb in his 95 M3 so that is why he didn't have the backlit feature shown.
So on cars w/ ASC where the M logo in on the top half of this area and the "ASC" lights on on the bottom half of this area.... when I replace that one w/ this new one the M logo takes up the whole area and when ASC is engaged it lights up?

Doesn't look to be available any more, not on their website anyway. Real shame, I'd love to refresh my cluster! Nice video

Link or an explanation how to wrap the wires cause I can't seem to fund the thread on bimmerforums?
The cluster M logos are now active on my website.
Thank you Jordan for making a video on them!
I like the little details that add up to a clean , sharp look. Great stuff ! Keep em coming!!
Me too!
Whoa, this is something we would do, fellow e36 M3 owner!! Thanks to Brett, what a great idea!
love all the parts that brett makes for today's e36 community
Seriously! Do you follow him on IG? The work he does on BMW’s is seriously top notch.
@@jpetro yeah I do haha I mainly just read all his journals and wish I could do the work he does
THANK YOU!! I HATE how the M logo gets faded, and I was curious how to fix it. That looks SO much better!! 👍🏻👍🏻
Right!! I’m stoked he came out with this!

Nice man! Glad to hear this worked out!
That faded M has bothered me since day 1 of ownership. Thanks for such a great video. How did you cut the old emblem off? Just use a razor blade?

Ended up ordering half way through the video. Your car is so tasteful. Do you have an ig?
Thanks bro, I really appreciate it! Yeah, IG is @JordanPetrovich_
Very nice. Very nice indeed.

That may not be accurate on your 1995 actually.
@@peter15walsh Correct, not accurate for non-ASC cars. There are custom solutions you can make to get it to illuminate for these older cars though.
This is probably the first ever vid on this thing haha @3:50 epic genius moment!!!!
Haha! I was actually asking Brett what to call this piece, lol!
Nice my man 👏🏽
I may have missed it during the vid, but will this illuminate when the asc is engaged or is ur cluster a bit different?
Yes, they are capable of being illuminated on ASC clusters. Non-ASC clusters you can rig up a powered bulb off main cluster illumination. Jordan has no bulb in his 95 M3 so that is why he didn't have the backlit feature shown.
What exhaust are you running?, sounds really nice
Thanks man! The S54 has euro headers, SuperSprint center section and Stromung rear🤙
mmm.... opening the guage cluster and cutting the factory sticker means the odometer could be seen to be tampered with eh?
Eh, I don't think so. The odo isn't manual like oldschool cars. To tamper with that you'd have to do it with software I believe.

Oooh, that would be a question for MSportParts.Com. I would reach out to them, they'll be able to tell you for sure.

How do you know if you have a backlit M anyway?
I believe the 96+'s are backlit but I'm not sure.
You don't have to have a backlit, ASC equipped car to use this. It still looks stunning off.
Can you do this on a non M?
Yes! They fit all E36 clusters.
I don't see these emblems on the site. What's your IG?
My IG is @JordanPetrovich but if you meant Brett’s, it’s @Braymond141👍
