- Torch down roofing is made of rolls of bitumen that lay on top of one another on the roof to create a water-tight seal. The membrane layers of a torch down roof are made of an asphalt compound called bitumen that is modified with either rubber or plastic. The main strength of this type of roofing is that it can expand and contract without melting or cracking. It has a high tolerance for both the heat and the cold it will experience on the roof during the change of seasons. There are different types of torch down roofing including two-layer and three-layer systems.

Needed a torch to light his torch rather than a lighter or striker
Didn't round the corners
Left dirt on the old roof first
Didn't step it out to attach anywhere
And didn't heat the old roof at all he kept it pointed at the mod bit.
I hope this is the new guy because this is day 1 level torching.

A lot of people hit there laps at the end with a rolled and a torch . That’s the best bleed out honestly . Not sure if that’s what’s he’s doing though . Should have a trowel in his hand and not a bottle torch lol
@@michaelweney1225I agree but to do that you need to not tac it so far back. And actually need to properly tac it because this will just blow heat out the back if torches the edge and uses a trowel or roller.
I don't much like the roller option because it's way more work on the wrist for less control, though I will admit skill-wise it's much easier to apply without a lot of training or experience so I like to start new guys there sometimes.
I remember a historical church was burned down during a roofing repair or install..

Bro wtf🤦🏾♂️ first off who gave this man a torch? 2nd I’m not a roofer nor know anything about it but based off my experience with sealing engines and tanks, I think I would just pour some high grade weather resistant sealant before I laid the roll. That roof is not lasting 3 years😂😂😂

Done completely wrong, yes I do this every day.
I need to do this for my mom's house in Puerto Rico , I wanted to try and cut cost and do the install myself sigh. The cement roofing was never leveled correctly (lots of sunken spots where water accumulates) and eventually water puddles penetrated the cement roofing. Ofcourse I need to fix those low spots first - what a night mare.
