After all these years, I do understand how this seems crazy, don’t try to just play it all along with the video, make sure to take breaks between each section so you don’t screw up your chops, but you got this!!
On those Stamp warmups at the beginning, you should add the next chromatic step down to end on the Low F the concert Bb. It’s not technically playable on Mellophone, but you should do 1st valve and lip bend your way down to it.
I would not say I play powerful, but playing with a full tone is more what I aim for. Playing with a relaxed embouchure during long tone and note bending exercises with good dynamics and good air will help. Playing along to this video of the blue devils warming up is what kind of showed me what that sounds like. m.ua-cam.com/video/SE753X8h5b8/v-deo.html
i’m a junior in high school. i switched from the trumpet to the mellophone my sophomore year. is this too challenging to start with lol because by the looks of it, it most definitely is.
Nah this shouldn’t be too bad to play. There are some parts of course that are pretty hard like the chromatic exercise that’s towards the end, but by then you’re pretty warmed up. What parts seem the most challenging.
amgoro wattimena yeah it is possible, their called pedals tones and they have helped me play better than I used to. Here is the cross men using them to help warm up, ua-cam.com/video/o9hW4F9MRM0/v-deo.html
amgoro wattimena just remember that it takes time to hit these tones and that you will have trouble figuring out how to play them, just remember to drop your jaw a little bit to help to hit those tones use A LOT of air to help support.
I’ve been playing for about a year, the pedal tones honestly not that hard to hit. It’s mainly just air and jaw (my mello is also as old as me so it’s def not the mello 💀)
This is a whole brain, finger, and mouth exercise
Gotta be a really hard warmup but if I wanna join dci looks like I have quite a lot of practice ahead of me😅
Thanks for the video!

How the hell does your mellophone sound bold and powerful, and mine sounds like a screaming bird?
