Firstly great video! Please treat the following as observations of a millennial photography enthusiast:
- Photography is a niche profession because it demands professionalism and creativity. Due to the proliferation of cheaper gadgets and popularization of the art form in other media platforms(like cinema) the profession seems to have been taken up by a wider range of people, thereby gaining more momentum and people have the most accessibility now.
- While I’m at the risk of being considered a purist, what I’ve observed to happen is the quality of the work being diluted by the newer photographers and people’s preferences just going towards the flashier cinema like style.
- In popular south Asian events like marriages, people and expectation management are critical. There are rituals and ceremonies followed by people of all religions, as byproducts of customs and traditions followed for ages and thus are to be captured to elevate their significance.
- Most of all, like any other job this needs professionalism. If you truly get to know your customers, their expectations, know your location, subject, etc and if you can simply show up 10 minutes before the event, that can take your business a long way :)
