My daughter asked if you could make a lasagna from dollar tree ingredients. I'd love too see that too. I'd also love too see copy cat recipes from popular restaurants using dollar tree.
Rebecca has made a lasagna with dollar tree ingredients by layering the frozen ravioli with sauce and cheese I tried it and it works ( I would add some vegetables or meat to it. Sausage or hamburger or even canned chicken!
The Knorr "Last-Minute Lasagna" recepie can be made with dollar tree ingredients- and she did that in a 'back of the box' recipie series a while back- and that came out super good.
I appreciate your ongoing honesty about the effort, the quality, your own likes/dislikes in these. Makes your work very useful and sometimes hilarious.
For anyone else who is diabetic, I make Dalgona coffee with no sugar. The coffee whips beautifully with just water. You can also add sweetener when you are whipping it.
Thank you so much for this comment. I was wondering if the sugar was necessary to get the whipped consistency. I do agree that this is more of an afternoon or dessert coffee. I'm looking forward to trying this.
Can’t wait to watch this evening! A fun challenge idea, send the family’s “non-cook” into the store with a budget and then have to see how far the “cook” can stretch what they bought.
Or do a pantry and freezer cleanout challenges, like the show Chopped. It might be more fun to have the non-cook pick, or to grab blind from a shelf with all veggies or all proteins etc, or even to have a child grab one of each protein, carb, veggie, and wildcard? We play that game each season to clear things out and try new recipes or combos. Some of our favorites have been BBQ pork topped sweet potatoes, sweet potato falafel, pasticcio, moussaka, chicken thighs over rice with a honey ginger sauce, steak and cheese filled egg rolls, cheeseburger egg rolls.
Something I grew up with was taking left over pancakes and we would tear them up into bite size pieces in our bowls and fix pancakes and milk. I would see it as a clever April Fool video while still providing helpful ideas on what to get beyond the food section at Dollar Tree.
Great video! I found it funny when dalgona became such a trend since I knew pretty much the same thing as greek frappé for a couple of decades. The difference is frappé tends to use cold water instead of hot and I definitely make it with less coffee. You can also just pour cold water into the foam instead of milk (or mostly water with a splash of milk). I feel like it's more refreshing that way. Really quick to make (like the second method you did straight in the glass, I just use simple milk frother). Nice to drink during hot summer days.
@@mariafentis My family first learned about it when we went to Greece for vacation one summer when I was a kid, and we have been making it since. It has been a fond memory for us too!
Thank you for the dalgona coffee recipe ! I've had several unsuccessful attempts at it in the past, but you made the recipe so easy and approachable I was finally able to make a successful version. The brown sugar with vanilla version was fire!❤
I bet you could put them on parchment on a sheet pan in the oven. It would dry them out so they would stand up to the milk. You could add the syrup to the batter to give them a hint of flavor and sweetness???
I was hoping you would say the pancake cereal wasn't worth the work, now I have to make it😂 For a recipe idea what about 3 ingredient desserts, 4 ingredient dishes or 5 ingredients?
You can, but the non-conical shape of zipper bags and the typical thinness of the plastic will not give you anywhere near the same control as a piping bag. The better alternative is to keep some parchment paper on hand and learn how to make piping cones, which are easily fashioned out of triangles of parchment paper, and take just a bit of practice to get the hang of.😃
Would have never guessed in a million years I could get salmon from Dollar Tree! I honestly never really thought about getting actual groceries from there outside snacks. I definitely will try cooking with DT ingredients now! Those look delicious!
Hmm... maybe the sanity version of pancake cereal would be to make regular-sized pancakes and cut them into bite-sized pieces, and put warm milk with syrup in a side bowl for dipping.
With the sushi dish, it is still a low cost meal by doing exactly what you did. Getting the majority of the ingredients at dollor tree so that you can splurge a little on the seaweed paper at the grocery store. Imagine how much more expensive this dish would be if you were to get ALL of the ingredients at a grocery! It's all about knowing where and where not to compromise.

I love dalgona coffee!!! It is a special occasion coffee for us...I usually do it in afternoon on the weekends so I use decaf instant coffee. We also make cold foam to put on ours and layer it. We bought one of the milk frothers from Amazon that can make hot or cold foam (they look similar to a coffee grinder) and it makes it easier to do. These videos are so fun! I love when you recreate things using DT stuff (or really anything you do)...like the Crumbl cookies ones are great! Thank you for doing such informative, useful and fun videos!

I love your videos! A thought on the pancakes, could you make bigger pancakes then use something, say a pill bottle, to cut out smaller pancakes? Thank you for providing another great video!
I think you could! Although the caveat is that you wouldn’t have as many crispy pancake edges, and they would get soggy faster because they would have more porosity for milk to soak in
Well done per usual! Here's a thought: mashed potatoes from a variety of DT plain/flavored Potato Chips. They're "all the rage" on YT, and I think the origin may have been Tik Tok.

I tried it for 5 days, replacing Maxwell House instant and I took naps every day and got caffeine headaches. 😛 I'm not sure if I'm the only one, but wanted to suggest that the DT instant coffee is really only good for the taste, not to fuel yourself!
Keeping in mind that these coffees use 6 servings of instant coffee each they are quite strong. I have to be careful when I drink them or I won’t sleep for a week
Fun video. For what it is worth, the Dollar Tree butter flavored pancake syrup to me had more of a molasses taste vs buttery or maple flavored. It was okay but not great. But we are kind of spoiled in Maine with having real maple syrup but it is still pricey! I don't use it a lot but nice to know they do have real maple syrup in the Dollar Tree stores.
Rebecca! I just learned you had bariatric surgery. I've been watching you for about a year, and today, I went back to the beginning. I had bariatric surgery 5 months ago. I visited my local dollar tree and saw seasoned beef crumbles. They are shelf stable. I have never seen this on your channel and thought this may be something you would be interested in. I may be late to the party and this is a well-known thing who knows?
I actually just saw those as well and I posted a review of them on tiktok! they are a pretty well rounded brand, they offer a few different shelf stable meat products. You can usually find them at most grocery stores for around $4 to $5 a bag, so at dollar tree it's quite the deal if you need some emergency/hurricane/no cook meal options
Every time I see small pancakes I think of "These Pancakes Are Tiny" Very interesting recipes. I didn't like the coffee one in quarantine but I also don't like coffee so... Should have known better.
Not only are these recipe ideas great, but they inspire me to think outside the box since I'm not able to stand for longer periods of time to cook. Nuke rice (or use rice cooker), open can of tuna or salmon, pop open small can of peas or carrots and that - along with canned fruit - is dinner done for me.
You are adorable, so sweet and kind. You put so much effort into very interesting content. Did you ever think of making a cook book using Dollar Tree items? I'm always looking forward to each video. God Bless. Hugs, Rebekah
A couple of years ago I tried the coffee foam and it never did whip up. Maybe I'll try it again. I like your idea of whipping it in the canning jar. The pancake cereal would be fun for toddlers and anyone. If someone really liked it a lot, they could make a big batch, then package in single servings and freeze. Thanks for sharing, wonderufully thought out video as always ! 🥰🌱🍀💐🌷🌹🌞🌛💗✝
I just blend my coffee mixture in a large mason jar so I am not blending it in a bowl. I usually whip mine further so it it is a bit frothier. I bet you could use tuna if you didn’t have access to salmon and get a similar meal. We are lucky - my dollar tree always has the seaweed packets. Great as a snack or in a recipe.
Considering the $5 salmon fillets give you 3 in total, perhaps you can divide it into 3 separate meals... so $1.66 compared to $1.25 for the pouch isn't a bad cost difference! I'm sure it can be prepared in an air fryer, too, to make the process a little faster. I'd love to try this for lunches one week. Might not be enough for dinner.
I was thinking realistically you could split the salmon fillets between 2 bowls but I think you could definitely squeeze a third out of it if needed! :)
Recently found your chanel and have been enjoying all the good videos and ideas. I have a quick video request in a pantry filling video from Dollar Tree. Things like oils, spices, cream of mushroom or chicken soup, flour, sugar, and a few freezer items. Things you buy that last a while and can be used as a base or added to meals with other items from Dollar Tree. Keep up the great work.
FYI frozen salmon is very microwave friendly so the rice bowls can be microwaved using the frozen salmon.I do a lot of meal prep for work and one of my favorite meals is simply seasoned salmon or tilapia with steamed veggies and a little rice cooked with bouillon. I do use Better than Bouillon as I prefer the flavor and it has fewer objectionable ingredients.
The Dollar Tree squeeze bottles are remarkably thin, which makes them super-easy on hands. (I have issues with my hands, and I use these bottles for a conditioner that I love but that comes in the hardest plastic bottle ever and even people with normal strength complain about how impossible it is to dispense the stuff.) Bbut you're absolutely right about the piping bags being even easier. They also give you loads more control than using a squeeze bottle, because with a properly filled piping bag, unlike with a bottle, there's no air either pushing the contents out or sucking it back in. (Air pockets in a piping bag full of frosting or batter can cause 'blow-outs' or 'spitting', which is why bakers and decorators always 'burp' the piping bag first, squeezing out some product into a bowl, before piping onto a baking pan or cake or cookie, in order to remove any hidden pockets of air.)♥
Thank you for the video. The mini pancakes looked amazing but I would not have the energy to make them. I wonder if you could do it using normal sized pancakes and chopping them up? The coffee would have to be a 'day off work' treat for me! Thank you for the video!
The coffee thing here where I live people tend to make huge batches and store it in the freezer (it doesn't freeze, just makes it last more), then they take a spoonful at a time and mix with milk
I make the “sushi bowl” with canned tuna and it’s delicious. It’s like a spicy tuna roll bowl. I don’t personally think it needs to be salmon. Edit: (to clarify) for the microwave version. Also great job on the video, it was very enjoyable!
Michael suggested the same that it might be more cereal like to dry it in the oven but that adds another step onto an already time consuming process for a single bowl of cereal 😂
I'm pretty sure i made dalgona coffee but used my own mixing power.😊 Also loving the salmon recipe i have leftover nori sheets and now will use it for a deconstructed salmon sushi. Fun video! 🤗
A lot of the spices and flavors that are common in India are not sold at dollar tree, that would be the hardest part. But I’m always open to suggestions if you have any ideas on how I could make Indian food from dollar tree, they do sell lentils at least
I might have to give the pancake syrup another try. We recently threw ours out. Both my son and I thought it tasted "off"... not tasted bad, but "off." So maybe we did have a bad or spoiled batch.
What a fun video to watch really enjoyed it love this for everyone who wants to try new things you can do it so much cheaper at Dollar Tree than going in painful price at the regular grocery store and making fun things really hard to do with your family you're doing a great service to the community
I have to say all 3 recipes looked great! I am going to definitely try the pancake cereal first then the other two. Thank you soooo much for all the work and thought you put into you videos for us. They are high quality, very informative and helpful. Love your channel❤
Not the closest one to me, but the next closest DG just got a fresh produce section, which is great, and gives me hope that the one that’s just a mile down the road will get that as well.
I've made my dalgona coffee with cold water and a handheld milk frother. You can also use sweetner intead of sugar, or no sugar, it's not needed to make the foam.
Hello, I’m a new subscriber, loving your channel, more realistic, simple, cheap meals. I would love to hear your list of the top 10 or 20 cheapest foods to cook with like rice beans and maybe you can think of some other items that other people would use. Thanks.
maybe an easier way to make the pancake syrup is to just make full sized pancakes, then chop them up. sure, it's not as pretty, but it could be easier to repeat
Love those mini pancakes! I can think of so many uses for them! Going to use them as an alternative to lady fingers to try and make a dollar tree 'trifle" dessert. No seaweed at Dollar Tree? You can get a similar flavor profile by heading to their supplements section and grabbing some spirulina powder. Add some to a little water and you have an instant seaweedy-tasting paste!
I've gotten seaweed snacks at the city Dollar trees twice now a couple of weeks ago. So it may just be out in your region. I buy snacky foods to keep in my van for my daughter since I drive her to and from college and a lot of time they are hungry or want to supplement their lunch.
The final dish is literally 'scattered sushi' but without what turns rice into sushi: rice wine vinegar (either seasoned or plain plus a bit of sugar). Seaweed is an absolute must in my opinion, and especially delicious if you use seasoned nori snacks like you did in the video, but vinegared rice is what gives sushi its most distinct and authentic flavour.♥
My daughter asked if you could make a lasagna from dollar tree ingredients. I'd love too see that too. I'd also love too see copy cat recipes from popular restaurants using dollar tree.

Want to try the coffee, and the sushi bowl! Yum!
I haven't seen the seaweed sheets in a while...I kind of forgot that DT used to have those! I would love to see a review of the gluten free pasta!
I always regret not making more meals with certain items while they are available, I’m always trying to be more opportunistic 😂
Your Dollar Tree has so much more than mine does.
The coffee thing here where I live people tend to make huge batches and store it in the freezer (it doesn't freeze, just makes it last more), then they take a spoonful at a time and mix with milk
Fantastic channel 💖🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
I make the “sushi bowl” with canned tuna and it’s delicious. It’s like a spicy tuna roll bowl. I don’t personally think it needs to be salmon.
Edit: (to clarify) for the microwave version. Also great job on the video, it was very enjoyable!
I never tried the pancake cereal, but it seems like it should be cooked longer so it's more dried like cereal or oven dried
Fun video! 🤗
I feel like you show try some Indian food recipes and recreate them using dollar tree ingredients. ❤
@DollarTree sponsor this woman! #budgetmeals #dollartree #creativemeals
Interesting and I was surprised about the dang pancake cereal getting ranked a 9 outta 10…a fun idea and thanks for showing it to us…
I was expecting to be like “yeah just make pancakes” but it was surprisingly good as a cereal
Fantastic video I absolutely love this great job. I love all your videos
I love those white bowls!! Thanks for the tips. Never tried Nori but now I think I will.
I'm always looking for coffee ideas those are good ones.
❤😋 I like rice topped with canned chicken, drizzle bbq sauce and Sriracha on top and finally sprinkle with onion powder/granules. Mix. Enjoy!! ❤😋
I've made my dalgona coffee with cold water and a handheld milk frother. You can also use sweetner intead of sugar, or no sugar, it's not needed to make the foam.
for the coffee! in the cup you can spin/roll a whisk between your palms for a mixer free option :)
I’ve absolutely done that before, it does work but my arms about fell off 😂😂
@@DollarTreeDinners valid it is definitely a workout 🤣
I wonder if the dalgona coffee could be done in a blender or using an immersion blender in a cup so you don't have to get a bowl!
The Pancake Cereal is a 9/10 for me. It's addicting ❤ but texture-wise... you have to eat it like really fast because it turns soggy really quickly.
I'm absolutely gonna try that brown sugar coffee. Looks quick & tasty.
I’m glad that you made the dish with and without sea weed as I’m allergic to seaweed.
I'm so jealous of your Dollar Tree! There are a bunch in Miami, but every single one of them looks like a bomb just went off.
This was a great idea Rebecca!! I love this. Please keep these and the depression recipes coming. Love your channel❤
Our girl just made sushi affordable!!! With every video I'm more impressed with her skills!
I've gotten seaweed snacks at the city Dollar trees twice now a couple of weeks ago. So it may just be out in your region. I buy snacky foods to keep in my van for my daughter since I drive her to and from college and a lot of time they are hungry or want to supplement their lunch.
Its probably on top for aesthetics, but i find putting the whip on the bottom for the dalgona coffee makes it easier to mix :)
When I make the coffee I pour the froth at the bottom and use Almond vanilla milk it great
The final dish is literally 'scattered sushi' but without what turns rice into sushi: rice wine vinegar (either seasoned or plain plus a bit of sugar). Seaweed is an absolute must in my opinion, and especially delicious if you use seasoned nori snacks like you did in the video, but vinegared rice is what gives sushi its most distinct and authentic flavour.♥
I buy the big nori sheets and cut them into six. Goes a lot further. Is thicker so holds up better. And less oily and salty.
I love watching your videos. I feel that the content is very relatable and inspiring. Thank you for making these. 😊
