Crisp veg and sweet tomatoes set against the natural saltiness of capers, kalamata olives and creamy feta cheese. Akis Kitchen Yeah, but by slamming the knife down on the board this way, you continuously break the edge of the knife. Of curse that matters less, as Global knifes only have a hrc of 58, but it still causes wear on the knife.

+curlywonders not every greek salad is like that and there are just a few twists-changes. We use dried oregano usually and not fresh. Also if you don't have Kalamata olives then you might want to skip adding olives. My grandma also uses parsley instead of basil, thin horn shaped green peppers instead of thick bell peppers and also skips the capers because you already get saltiness from the feta cheese (it's about how salty you want your salad and having a balanced flavor)

Use normal tomatoes, never cherry tomatoes
Many people don't like the green pepper in the Greek salad, it's optional
Only use salt,olive oil (pepper optional) and put the oregano on top of the feta before you cut it
The washing of the onions routine is absolutely not necessary
FORGET ALL the "secret" ingredients he's just playing the "i am a chef" card but not for the better good of the youtubers
In Summary
He putted so many unnecessary staff so i have to say what you should actually put from all these
tomato, cucumber, onion, olives, feta, salt, olive oil, oregano(dried is just fine) // Optional: pepper (seasoning), green pepper

φιλε ο ακης απλα προσπαθησε να δειξε την πιο extravagant εκδοση του πιατου. εμεις οι ελληνες που τρωμε χωριατικη καθε μερα μπορει να βαλουμε μονο ντοματα και φετα και να το πουμε χωριατικη. το βιντεο ομως προοριζεται για ξενους που δεν εχουν ιδεα απο ελληνικη κουζινα. επισης πιστευω οτι προσθεσε πολυ ομορφα υλικα και απογειωσε το πιατο του.

I have been to Greece many times, they don't normally use cherry tomatoes and peppers in their greek salad, they use big tomatoes. However, the Feta cheese in Greece is delicious
While it's true that you never see greek salad with cherry tomatoes, it is often not the case for green bell pepper. Greek salad often has or should have green bell pepper

I made it today. So simple and so delicious. It does not compare to the fake greek salad that American restaurants are selling. I have greek friends and they had a good laugh when we went out to eat and we ordered a greek salad. LOL! They said it had nothing to do with greek salad.

A friend once visiting in Greece asked a waiter for a reek¨ salad. Beildered, the waiter eventually answered: Sir, in Greece, ALL salads are Greek. Apparently there are specific names for these salads....notice how this fellow refers to the usual sort off Hellenic salata at the beginning of this video!!!
You're right! This type of salad is called 'χωριάτικη' (hori-ati-ki) loosely translated as a village salad :)

Another great video from food tube and from Akis! I have never tried the trick you do with the onions. I must give it a try! In mu opinion one of the best part of eating this salad is when you dip your bread in the bottom of the bowl, where all the flavours have mixed together with the olive oil. Refreshing and revitalizing!
Your next video should have mousaka, pastichio ot even gemista since those are traditional greek dishes and I would like to see your twist at them! Can't wait for your next video!

Haha I mean that it takes a lot of energy for your body to actually digest foods that are high in protein, which causes the body temperature to increase. This I do like to avoid in 38-40 degree weather. :)
