    We spent 12 months full time on the road. We missed nothing and enjoyed everything. 45000km and close to $65000. Think that worked out at about $1.40/km. Really think the $1/km that so many talk about is running a very economical tow vehicle, and not spending anything on tours or entries. So double your 6 months expenses and your close to what we spent in 12 months. Dont worry about about what it costs, just enjoy it as you might never see these place's again.

    • @Travellingcampers
      @Travellingcampers  2 роки тому +1

      Agree mate and thanks for sharing! I find for shorter trips the $1 a km is a touch closer but not so much the longer your on the road. Right in the ball park mate so perfect and of course, but if you are wanting to live on the road for a long period of time it’s not a holiday anymore and do have to be half smart with your money! Legend mate cheers!

    We have been on the road 9 months now, finding our overall costs at about $1000 per week. That's total costs for all food, van parks, fuel, maintenance ect. Was more than I had anticipated but that's van life. Loving every minute.

    My partner and I both 25 just spent 3.5 months travelling in a rear fold campers. close to 20k spent and nothing was spared always ate proper food and did all the sight seeing we could!
    I think people underestimate the running cost/repairs on their set up.

    Yep. Did it in 2013. Sold the house and took off for 6 months in a motor home. Both of us took long service at half pay and it was $1000 a week to free camp, diesel, food, some caravan parks…. We lived comfortably because we had no bills except storage for furniture at Kennards which was f#$k all at the time. Newby’s would be surprised at how it ads up. Add in repairs on the way. You can’t live a good life travelling on the dole anymore. Totally agree with your calcs.

    Thanks for the vids really information by real people , I’ve done a lot of travelling alone , even just travelling for work , traveled from Darwin to port Augusta to broken hill across to Coffs Harbour stopped at manaparinka Ayres rock all the pubs , the salt lakes and so on , I took 4 weeks to travel home from Darwin, I lived simply but didn’t starve, I free camped the whole way , little gas burner stove and a small fridge to keep meat fresh along with butter and the usuals , all up around 2k including fuel and beer and national park entry fees , I was in a Nissan Pathfinder gas/petrol, but it didn’t matter which I ran it on still worked out the same cost for gas because u just don’t get the ks of petrol! Best attraction was Ayres Rock and the old pubs , this was in 2016 , even with fuel prices now I really think if u simplify and are happy enough to go rough it a bit u can do it under 500$ per week !

    As one of the “oldies” you mentioned, surely the biggest expense in you doing your trip is the one you haven’t covered, and won’t discover until you do finally stop and get a base. Now be that land or a home, it’s going to cost you a lot of money to get back on the housing ladder. The average 4-2-2 home in Brisbane has probably gone up 250-300k in the last 18 months. Something that your average working Joe has to consider when deciding to “get off the couch” and just do it. 99% of the population just can’t afford to or afford to take the risk as appealing as it may be.

    • @Travellingcampers
      @Travellingcampers  2 роки тому

      The video is for travelling expenses mate to give people a guide on roughly what it may cost to get out for a few months, 6 months or 12! We sold our house and don’t plan on getting another any time soon and travel full time, but that’s just us we aren’t saying you should do that the purpose of the whole video is to give a rough idea of costs to help people decide what may suite them to get out and explore Australia! Having a mortgage and being locked down isn’t appealing to us! Thanks for your input mate and hopefully can get out for a holiday soon ☺️

    • @andytee5677
      @andytee5677 2 роки тому

      @@Travellingcampers I understand exactly what the purpose of the video is. However, unless you intend being nomadic for ever then at some point a land or home purchase will be required. At this point you will find out how much extra being out of the loop will cost on top of the “travelling expenses”. Another UA-cam traveller spent six months touring, they didn’t sell their home and their costs were over 120k including their mortgage repayments.

      @@andytee5677 Nice mate! This video is all about OUR experience and expenses not someone else's, putting a future house into the spreadsheet from someone that may want a rough idea for a 3 month trip doesn't make sense. Was just about to subscribe as we have been enjoying your videos to help plan out trip and then the comment about never going back to Victoria while Dan Andrews is there. So unnecessary making political comments in this platform.

      Hey mate! When you experience it yourself, have friends and family that have lost businesses, took their own life from the crap that’s gone on the last few years, it’s quite natural to have a bit of a sour taste. We are going back to Victoria this month, we love Victoria but personally won’t live there and that’s totally fine we can have an opinion based on our own experience which is basically what our whole channel is about as we travel around, nothing but our experience and journey! Glad to hear you guys are enjoying the videos, see you out there one day!
