Our pricing system in India is really strange. Here in Ontario, which is supposed to be the most expensive for Whisky, in Canada, Monkey Shoulder is only 3000 IRS equivalent. At the same time, Talisker 10 is about 6000 IRS. Jameson is exactly the same price. The best market for Whisky is the US. And states like New Hampshire across our border have no Sales Tax. The duty-free shops across the border are fantastic. I got a bottle of XR21 for just 94 USD. The trouble is we can bring only 1 bottle and if you are in the US for less than 24 hours then nothing can be brought across.
You are absolutely right about our changing palate and tastes. Since I started with Scotch I still like only that. I just don't like the taste of Bourbon or Rye. Irish too I cannot enjoy.
My Favorite Whisky this year is something called Hepburn's Choice Benriach 7 Year Old by Hunter Laing & Company Limited. Hunter Laing is an independent bottler.

India does not what Indian's to buy foreign whisky. How they are achieving this is by putting crazy duty on foreign whisky.

I find teachers highland much better than teachers 50. I think teachers 50 is over hyped and no point in paying that small extra money. I wud go for highland cream, it's better than 50 any day.

I agree Jim Beam and Teacher's 50 are the best value for money, and it's not even close compared to the rest. It's a shame we don't get more Bourbons here. Would really love to try Blanton's or Elijah Craig.

Glenfiddich 12, Amrut fusion, Bowmore 12, Teacher's 50, Black Label and Ballantines 12 is my favourite Whisky in terms of price and taste ratio..
Glenfiddich 12 is overrated in my opinion.
Amrut and teachers, yeah its worth spending the money.
Balentines 12 is by far the best whiskey in terms overall experience!
ALL are good , imported. Please give a try to AMRUT SECTION Starting " AMAGAN" and "FUSION". and another good to taste "SOLAN GOLD- SINGLE MALT. ALL Indian, I hope you will love the the taste, with right way of tasting. Thanks

Great Choices.....mine favourites are Ballentine, Glenfeidch, Grants, Jameson. Recently one of my friends gifted me a bottle of a Japanese whiskey 'Nikka'. The bottle is damn beautiful. I am not in the mood of opening the same. It will be open on some special occasion. Can you shed some light on the flavor of Nikka.
Bro is it a squareish bottle? If its Nikka from the barrel? I had it once and ive been looking for it eversince. Its kinda smoky iirc. Very good
@@ledheadzeppelin Yes it's a thick squarish bottle. All glass and minimal artwork. My friend who gave me the bottle resides in Lisbon, Portugal.
